Just so you guys know, the invites can take some time to come in. According to MedOneStop, last year, I completed my application mid-late July, and got the invite late October/early November?, but had to reschedule for mid-December. If you're not getting any replies immediately, don't sweat it too much. I'd say give it a few more weeks.

Thanks for the heads up c4e.

Any acceptances today from the last round of interviews? Dr. Manuel said that group would be split, half hearing back today and half next wednesday

I am eagerly waiting. It appears no decisions from our group are up. I remember him saying they'd get around 30ish applicants reviewed, and there would be over 40 files to do. So yeah, some will bleed over into next week. But if no one's got their decisions......

Yeah, I've heard nothing yet. They said they would have 36 decisions for us this wednesday (3 groups of 12).

does anyone know if the tuition at this school changes to instate after one year for oos ? thanks

Yes. It requires you to become an Ohio resident first and has several requirements that are reviewed quickly during the financial aid talk on interview day. Dr. Dan Burr at the financial aid office at the med school is quite knowledgeable with regards to this and is very good at answering any questions on financing medical school, if you have any.

It does, as long as you take the "Proper Steps."

Where the "proper steps" essentially boil down to living in OH during the summer after M1, taking out at least 50k in loans to pay tuition, getting an OH driver's license/state ID, and registering your car in OH if the title is in your name. Essentially proving that you are not dependent on anyone outside of OH.

There are a few ways around the guidelines above (like showing you've had the money that you're paying tuition with in your personal account for at least a year before you start school), but for the most part plan on following them if you want to pay the in-state rate... A bit annoying, but then again it's 15-25k savings a year, so you can't really complain. 😛

If you have questions feel free to ask me for specifics. If it's anything too complicated you might want to just call the UC registrar, the number/guidelines are on the Financial Aid page.

thanks for answering the question about tuition!

So is it pretty safe to assume that those of us from the 10/30 interview group will not be hearing from them today?? Bummer

Has UC rejected anyone yet? I've been complete since July 1 and haven't heard back. Since UC constantly reviews applications they feel are competitive, rather than giving an application a one time look like other schools, is this a good thing?

what's the usual turnaround time between interview and when they let you know?

I'm not sure what the usual turnaround time is, but when we were there (last Friday) the dean said that the adcom was all caught up so we would hear either today or next Wednesday.

Just withdrew my interview here, good luck to the rest of you!

Okay so I've been checking my UC status page on and off, and I just released they added "Application Complete July 22" to my page. This wasn't there earlier. The only date on my status page was "UC Secondary Complete July 1." Has anyone else experienced something similar?

i've had that for awhile. i think you just might've missed it before.

You're probably right. When were you complete and have you heard anything? I wondering if anyone has been complete since late July like me but hasn't heard back. It seems like that would be plenty of time to make a decision since a lot of people have already heard back that were complete later than this time period.

i was complete the same time, i think july 2.

i'm patiently awaiting and a little bit frustrated that i haven't heard a peep.

I talked with a lady (Sera) in Admission office & here's how she explained it -- as long as adcom thinks you are a viable candidate, they wont reject you. They'll keep the file, to compare with the whole pool & then make decisions. So if you are not rejected you are still in the running. No news -- is good news.

No news here either. I totally feel like I'm being led on though. UC stop being such a TEASE!

I interviewed on 10/16, and Dr. Manuel told our group the same thing about being notified on one of the two upcoming Wednesdays. However, the first decisions weren't released until 10/23, so expect a decision tomorrow. I checked at 10:30am on Friday and saw the decision, but didn't get a status change e-mail until around 2pm. Good luck!

Does anyone know if this school responds to "In the Area" emails? Has anyone tried sending one?

no, havent tried it but i should have. I'll be in this area twice in a 1 week time span. just never thought to ask. not gonna try to reschedule my interview though, not worth the risk.

Well I sent an email, so we'll see if it works. 🙂

Keep in mind with your "in the area emails" that UC only does 2 interview days a month. The chance of them even having an interview day during the time you're in the area is lower than most other schools.

And on an unrelated note...

No decisions yet for the 10/30 group?

So by "compare with the whole pool", I'm guessing she meant 'leave in the corner to languish and gather dust'?

No word here still, unfortunately.

anyone know where i can find a match list for this school? thanks

Well, might be just a coincidence, but just received an interview invite for the exact week I said I'd be in Ohio. Very happy. 😀

Just noticed we have to fill out a bunch of questions to confirm the interview date. In the question where it asks you to please explain any grades lower than a "B", does that include B-? Or are they mainly referring to C and under?

have the 10/30ers slipped through the cracks? I was so excited that we were supposed to hear last Wednesday...I knew it sounded too good to be true.

Hope not! I was pretty bummed about not hearing last week too, but maybe we'll hear tomorrow...wishful thinking?

When were you complete? Also, did you email admissions and tell them you'd be in town and wanted an interview while you were there? How does that exactly work....

My brother is currently an M2 at UC and I'm getting no love 🙁

I was complete at the end of August.. so it's been awhile. And yes, I just emailed them asking for a status update and mentioning that if I was eligible for an interview that I'd be in Ohio during X week in December. That was last friday and I received an interview today.

Congrats!!! So much for an easy initial secondary right? I was thinking they're referring to C and under. Good luck at your interview! I hope you'll love it as much as I did!

Thanks, I am very excited about the interview. Heard great things about UC. 😀 Yea I was reading more about the MMI format. It's a trip. Not sure how to prepare for that, but hopefully it'll be fun. Seems like people either love or hate it.

You really can't prepare for it at all. I'm sure you hear this a lot, but just go in there and be yourself. I actually had a lot of fun with mine!

This wait is excruciating... its 2PM there what are they doing?!

Guys, it's Veteran's Day.

I'm pretty sure the university is closed, so you're wasting your time waiting for a decision today.

I forgot about that, my school doesn't get today off though so I'm hoping just maybe it will come out later

Bad news guys...this was a holiday for us at the medical campus, so no students or non-essential staff (i.e. probably nobody there to upload decisions...). I can tell you that my decision came on a Thursday around 10 or 11am...not on a Wednesday. Good luck!
