Sigh...my interview here seems like it was so long ago, as well as my deferral. I was so hopeful and naive then. 😛 One month to go before us December deferrals get news...stay cheerful folks! And for those of you holding multiple incredible acceptances, think of those of us with fewer options and try to narrow down your decision if possible. ;-)

I interviewed here a while ago an was sadly waitlisted. I really enjoyed my visit. Have many others had a similar status? The status pages says that I can be accepted at any time. Can I really be accepted at anytime or is it pretty much waiting until the spring?

they did waitlists? or do you mean deferred

well, they said some people could get called today!

Their twitter page says that the admissions meeting is over and that all decisions reached today will be communicated on Monday.

Boo.

Yeah, we won't find out until Monday. Long weekend eh.

Omg! I'm in! I'm in! I'm in! Best acceptance letter ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats! I remember the night I got the acceptance video, I just about died. 😀

You just found out today?

I interviewed last Friday. Perhaps I'll find out today as well :xf:

Whoa, really? Where did you hear from? email? what day did you interview?

Twitter page said Monday. I interviewed last Friday, haven't heard anything yet.

"Full day before the holiday break with AEC meeting 11-2. Quite possible we may have our highest rated applicant ever at Michigan today!"

What does that Twitter mean? They're interviewing their best applicant ever, or...?

I'd guess Best Application Ever (at the post-interview review).

Congrats guyski79! They are notifying interviewees from last Friday too apparently...

Still haven't gotten any emails... sadness

how is it a lie?

Twitter: "AEC meeting complete - all decisions reached today will be reported on Monday. The quality of our candidates as good as I can ever recall!"

Not "by Monday." Sorry, I'm anal.

haha yup, as written it is a lie (technically). however, i got chewed out the last time i criticized michigan's tweeting habits so i'll shut up. congrats again to everyone who got in today!

New twitter msg:

"In the holiday spirit we reported some decisions today--we are done-lights are out and all remaining decisions by Monday, 5 p.m. Eastern."

Congrats to those who got in!

Out of 100 interviewees this month, surely there must be more than 2 SDN members here who got in?

i wonder what this best applicant ever has done/achieved...sounds really impressive to be labeled the best applicant ever..lol

this bothers me for some reason 🙄

I bet it's me. How else would you explain the fact that I've been "under review" for 3 months? I guess it takes them a while to tally up all my points.

I'm in too!!!! I got that amazing email right before I was getting ready to leave work today at 4pm. Totally ended the day on a high note 🙂

Cheesy video, yet endearing. Michigan surely loves their students. Received congratulatory emails from my interviewers. And excellent feedback!! Glad that this will not loom over me on monday.

About the highest rated applicant. Michigan has each interviewer rate each applicant on a scale of 1 to 5. 5 means exceptional candidate for medicine and will be an exceptional physician. My guess is that this applicant wowed the interviewers and got highest pointage.

It's cool when they twitter...tweet..whatever about how the applicant pool is really strong this year. That means it's ok that I got waitlisted because I'm part of a group that's really special! But when they twitter that there are specific other applicants who are way stronger than me, that makes me really sad! And disinclined to continue following their hashtag.

web 2.0 what what

for those who interviewed and heard back, how long did it take? i read you get a decision within 1 week, but the the director said 10-14 days in the september chat.

Just look at when they have AEC meetings. It is on their website somewhere. They notify people of decisions usually that day.

SwineSue,

This candidate was not way stronger than you. He/She made an excellent impression on their interviewers. Probably had a lucky day or prepped hard for their interview or was very personable. I imagine that to interview at Michigan, they already think you are great.

Naijaboi: They rate you on more than your interview. Ruiz meant that the complete review of such an individual was high. The final review is on a scale of 0 to 50. The interview was only a small part of that rating. On a side note it is always nice to see a fellow Nigerian having some success. Keep it up.

Decisions from 11/13 & 11/20 interview days will be reported by Noon Eastern time tomorrow via status page.

-and i was having such a good weekend not thinking about medical school

Does anyone know if Michigan will respond to an in the area update on the secondary application page?

I will be visiting family in Novi and Hamburg in January (and catching the Red Wings game!) which is right by Ann Arbor. Since I'm from Colorado it would be a huge money saver.

Not in my experience, but YMMV.

Status Page:

"Highly Desirable - December decision"

Oh well... From last year it appears almost none got off "highly desirable."
