I have heard, and they have told me, that UNC tends to be notoriously slower than they would like to be... I just interviewed 12 days ago, so I may not even get reviewed for a few more weeks... who the heck knows. You can call and ask where they in the process tho.

What time do they call??

I've been waiting since mid-november and I'm starting to get really frustrated. Though with my stats and in-state status should have gotten me in a while ago. So frustrated, in fact, that I just joined SDN (even though I swore I never would) and posted here. 😡

well... let me tell you if it's anything like my experience here it's not going to make you less frustrated and in fact will probably have the opposite effects! you start getting a little obsessive with checking.. haha
AHH oh well.

we still have a good month before we really have to start worrying/giving up hope

It could be worse, I had an early October IS interview I'm waiting on. I still feel like it was my best interview I've done and my stats are good. I went from being really confident about my chances to frustrated and now I'm just hoping I don't get rejected in April. On the bright side, we are getting close to the end of the interviews, which hopefully will mean things will start speeding up.

last night I had a dream that they had hidden cameras in that little waiting room to secretly film us and used that in the admission process. It seems like this whole process is a psychological endurance test and that they are so tricky about everything, the MCAT - tricky, the interviews - tricky, say this don't say that, wear this, don't wear that - for the love of... I think because I am still laughing I passed the test, but what a weird dream!

This is extremely interesting, and I have news for you (and anyone else interested). When I interviewed, I was in the waiting room and was looking around at all the pictures on the walls. The picture of the Dean on the wall, incidentally, has a small hole in it about the size of a pencil between the Dean's crossed hands. I believe this actually IS a camera or microphone!! :ninja:

As soon as I saw it, I died a bit inside... I was looking inside of the Daily Tar Heel they gave me as Jodi was talking to all of the applicants and I'm sure that made me look a bit aloof/uninterested/rude/etc. Even if it is a camera, however, I'm not sure if they use it in the admissions process, but then again, why else would it be there?!?

Now I'm paranoid. I took 2 bags of left over chips after lunch and put them in my purse since I would probably not have time for dinner with multiple flights and drive home. Great, now they think I'm a hoarder. lol

I believe that it is actually against the law to film and/or record people in this country without their permission, unless of course the Bush administration managed to slip in an emergency exception we don't know about yet.

I only hope, because I said a couple of things after my interview that were probably inappropriate...

What are the laws for audio and video?

It is against State and Federal laws to sell any covert type hidden camera containing a microphone to the general public. Hidden Cameras with built-in audio are only for law enforcement personnel and individual with special licensing. It is your responsibility to check local, municipal, and provincial laws before ordering or using any of the products in this site. Without the consent of at least one party to the communication, it is a felony to willfully intercept, endeavor to intercept, or get any other person to intercept any wire, oral, or electronic communication or to use any device, which transmits by radio, wire, or cable, to do so. N.C. Gen. Stat. § 15A-287(a)(1).
In interpreting the meaning of "consent," an appellate court determined that implied consent to interception occurs when one party is warned of monitoring and yet continues with the conversation. North Carolina v. Price, 170 N.C. App. 57 (N.C. App. 2005).
It is also illegal to willfully disclose or use the contents of any wire, oral, or electronic communication, knowing that the information was obtained unlawfully. N.C. Gen. Stat. § 15A-287(A)((3),(4).
"Electronic communication" does not include any communication from a tracking device. N.C. Gen. Stat. § 15A-286(8).
Any person whose wire, oral, or electronic communication has been intercepted, disclosed, or used has a civil cause of action against any person who intercepts or discloses the information. The violated party is entitled to recover actual damages (but not less than $100 per day or $1,000, whichever is higher), punitive damages, and reasonable attorney fees and litigation costs. N.C. Gen. Stat. § 15A-296(A).
No cause of action exists against a party who merely endeavors to intercept a communication. Kroh v. Kroh, 152 N.C. App. 347 (N.C. App. 2002).

Also, UNC is a state building... not private so the laws are probably stronger.

So... it is highly unlikely! BTW I am not paranoid, I am just very curious and wondered what the actual laws are about this.

Well it's their property though. Store owners have cameras all over and film us so I guess it's possible that a school could also do it.

Interviewed 10/23 and STILL waiting... out of state but went to UNC and have lots of family ties to NC, ahh i was surprised even to get an interview being OOS and now that i have a (slim) chance this waiting is killlllingggg me..

but i think the fact that the school gets state funding trumps that and makes it more like a public (oops hehe) place. i really dont know but yeah i kinda doubt that they can...

I don't actually know the laws on that either. Whoever interviews next needs to inspect that picture. 😛

I feel you. I interviewed late september and am still waiting too. AND I'm a reapplicant...so really, every other Monday for the past 1.5 years has been torture. I think I'm taking years off my life.

Oh and PS, I find this discussion about hidden cameras kind of funny. Smile, you're on candid camera? If yalls suspicions are true, I just hope I did some random act of kindness that day that I can't even remember. Maybe it would help them to overlook my mediocre stats due to my natural compassion and kindness...one can only hope.

Well that settles it. Would have been too late to do anything about that now but I guess worrying about silly things distracts us from the torturous wait.

You "feel" us? Wow. I don't think so. 👎

Wait, I'm confused...Somebody said they interviewed in October and the wait was killing them, and I said "I feel you," meaning, "yeah, I've been waiting for a long time and the wait is killing me too - I know how you feel." Was this offensive to you for some reason, mooshika? Um, why? Isn't this kind of the sentiment most of us express when we post on here?

No kidding, really? Maybe of you're a gang banger or in a movie...

Maybe I'm not reading the posts correctly, but I don't see any need for animosity. Seem we're all just frustrated of not knowing the unknown or when we'll finally know.

OK just fooling around here, really.

The snow is awesome, the best way to celebrate my Birthday!! although i hope it goes away i need to work on Monday lol

Hey guys, do you know when

1) they send out invites usually?

2) when do they meet as a committee ?

>.> I need to keep a track of that stuff better, i know someone said it may either be in 2 weeks 👍 or 6-8 weeks...:scared:

Happy birthday! The snow is crazy, but it won't keep me inside!

I think they meet every other Monday and send out invites on those days or the following day. It could take longer than 6-8 weeks (it already has been for me, and I know that there are people who have been waiting even longer!). Just stay optimistic - no news is good news! If you haven't been rejected yet, then you're still under consideration.

Best of luck to us all!

Yes, no news is good news, but good news is GREAT news!! Let's hope we all all get some good (great) news soon 😀

Accepted via snail mail letter, no call, interviewed beginning of October

For those of you accepted via snail mail, with no call, who were your interviewers?

Zacspir57, congrats! When did your letter arrive?

Wow Congratulations! Must've been a long wait for you. Hopefully we'll all hear something soon. I interviewed back in October as well, but it was closer to November than October.

anyone know how full the class is? I feel like it's almost there 🙁

The facebook group already seems to be growing pretty fast...I assume they are filling it as fast as ECU is. So probably a little over half the class is full by now.

Damn, fastnfurious you still have not got in? You have great scores.

my letter came on saturday, said it was sent out thursday. good luck to everyone, hope to see you next august

As awesome as it is to get in, I would be kind of bummed to not get a phone call letting me know of my application's success. Maybe I am nitpicking.

I wouldn't care if they wrote me a letter saying my application was complete dog ****..as long as it was an acceptance letter!

Again, maybe I am nitpicking. I just want the full monty, so to speak 😀

I wouldn't care if they wrote it out in dog sht, as long as there is an A on the paper.

I am not an applicant this year, and I hope no one gets on my case for asking, but what does UNC's financial aid package look like? Are they known for giving scholarsips? Anyone who has been accepted and has any info on that would be great.

Hey is there anyone that can answer this question, I'm really worried (well since my interview anxiety>worry~stressed)

Seems like UNC keeps a pretty tight lock on information like this. I've called the admissions office multiple times and I haven't been able to pry any information out of them.
