Systems-based approach is the best: is increases medical retention. Residents who have been through this systematic approach tends to fare better on their boards as opposed to others. This info. comes from many doctors who have seen this difference in approach. Yay, to OU 🙄
At a recent dean's lunch for first year students (they do these things a few times a year), the deans told us point blank that there is no evidence that implementing a systems-based approach has improved board scores at any school. That is not the goal with the new curriculum (although I am sure they would be tickled if that did occur), they told us it was simply a more "student friendly" curriculum that helped the student to learn and integrate the information - which is probably true.
Granted I am not even close to taking my boards, but I think that your board score is really a function of the quality of your learning in the first two years (read study and effort) and the grueling process that is board prep.
