Have any December interviewees heard anything yet?

does anyone know what the waitlist movement is like here at UR?

It varies from year to year, but historically there was not too much movement compared to some other schools. The main reason for that is they over-accept to start with. Again, no one knows what situation this year will be yet.

People coming to Rochester, be prepared for snow! We have received about two feet of non-stop snow in the last 4 days with no signs of stopping in the next couple of days. Prepare accordingly and drive safely...good luck at interviews

Non-stoppppp past few days. Ah well... nothing we haven't seen before.

Give yourself extra time if driving in!

hey for those of you who have gotten in, have you received the email from certiphi?

gl to all those still in the hunt

LOL...Exactly, I love the snow personally. I don't know about those downstate people. They complain about the little we get at Binghamton. I can't wait for the interviewers to ask "Why Rochester?" "Well you see... I love wegmens and the snow so its a perfect fit."

Quiet so far for me. When I interviewed they warned us that the Holiday break might delay any new decisions until mid-January.

They told us the same thing. Interviewed on the 10th and Dr. Hansen said my file will be discussed "in January" in a recent email so at least I know that I will know something within the next few weeks. :xf: (Hopefully sooner than later!)

I took classes this fall and want to send them my transcript for them. Should I go through amcas? How have you guys been sending updated transcripts?

I interviewed 12/18, and I'm pretty sure they said that we would hear in 8 weeks. I hope I'm misremembering though! January would be way better!

I just sent them my updated transcript and update letter. I send it through snail mail because I am not sure how long it takes through Amcas and I wanted information there before my interview.

Both my interviewers are doctors...is that normal? I was under the believe that one was a physician and one was a current med student. Did anyone else have two doctors?

Perfectly normal. It can be either two faculty members, or one faculty and one medical student. The faculty members could be physicians or PhDs (basic science professors). GL! :luck:

Like said above, normal. Getting a student interviewer all depends on who is available that day (for example, 2nd years are only available to interview on Friday afternoons) and if any students signed up to interview. I had 2 faculty members when I interviewed, so don't worry!

I am pretty much assuming that when I hear "an interview decision will be made by 1/15"...and it's 1/7, I'm out of the picture. No luck. Right? 😕

I am in the same boat and starting to assume the same thing....

Oh okay... Well it is nice to see they placed me with physicians that practice the field of medicine I am interested in. 😀 ... 4 more days

And rejected, pre-interview. Good luck everyone!

Sorry to hear about the recent string of rejections. Good luck on your other schools.

lstone13 and herestohoping were your rejections via email? I am very curious to hear from Rochester. . . and, when were you all complete? I was complete 9/22..have heard not a peep. one week couldn't go by any slower...

complete mid august and rejected today; maybe someone told them how much i don't want to live in upstate NY

haha well thats good then..if you dont like snow, rochester ain't the place. was your rejection via email?

yes, email this morning, good luck to anyone who might be still waiting to hear

Wait a second....I thought they would let you know whom you are going to interview with only 3 days before the interview? Sounds like they gave you the info one week in advance? That's great (more time to prepare)!

Pre-interview rejection today as well via email. Complete mid-september.
Oh well.

there was this one morbidly obese Flinn scholar who went here from UA. I think he lied and told all his friends that he got into Mayo in Rochester, when all along it was University of Rochester.

Lol. I don't know if they include weekends into those three days. If they don't, then it is three...Wed, Thur, Fri, and then the interview on Mon. Whatever, I'm just happy for interview to be almost here and like you said more time to prepare.

Seriously, don't try to "prepare" too much. It's so low key here and no one expects you to know everything about your interviewer. They give you the names to try to calm you down, not so you go off an read their bio!

PM me if you have any questions before you come!

Wanna sneak into the admissions office and put my file on the top of the pile to be reviewed? 😉 Thanks 😛

Thanks for the advice Lacrosse. From my understanding, Rochester is one of the most stress-free schools to interview at. I just really like the school and want to preform to my best abilities.

Do people attend the interview with a briefcase or folders of information... or is this type of interview ("Blind" that is) encouraged not to bring any additional information and documents?

You will get a folder when you come to interview. It will have info in it about the school, your interviews/locations, etc. I brought one of those little zip up folders just to keep my stuff in so I didn't have to lug around a purse. But no one brings anything to give to interviewers or anything like that.

haha I wouldn't have to do much sneaking to get into the office... but nudging up any type of committee meeting as well as knowing where the yet to be reviewed files are might be difficult

yep, via email. I was complete 8/25.

Thanks for the reply. "herestohoping" the rest of the cycle goes well for you!! :xf: check the rejection thread; trust me, i know how tough it can be!!

Thanks🙂.

Great more snow for another week... Oh Rochester😛

Anyone else here interviewing 1/18?

:/ Not here. Just waiting ... 6 days. Will there be an interview offer?

Good luck!👍 Let us know how it goes. 🙂

Thank you. I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous. I'll definitely post some feedback on the interview. Good luck on yours.

It's okay to be nervous!

We *really* need a facebook group / class thread for the 2014 U of R class. 🙂 Because I need to be able to share my happiness with like-minded folks.

For those on the waitlist, have you written a letter of interest/intent? if you've written one or are planning on writing one, to whom did you address it?
