Thanks TheFlashMD
Yeah...that is so true.. I heard about people getting in with much lower MCAT scores than yours. The admission process to Med School is sooo subjective especially when it comes to the interview part (unfortunately).

Good luck to all of us waiting! 🙂

Definitely. I'm already in elsewhere, so at least I'm not sweating it as much as I was last year. But damn... my own state schools shows no love.

Jesus... That's cutting it kinda close to May 15th deadline. They also going to put out financial aid reports in that time frame too?

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. Maybe we'll get an email around the 16th giving us a heads up. I'm not sure about the financial aid though.

O rly? I've never heard of that... interesting.

Yes, UT has been doing this for many...many years. The summer program is called the TIP program(Tennessee Institute of Pre-proffessional's program). It is for minority students who are below their GPA and or MCAT requirement, but have excelled in other areas. I think this program is only for instate minority students (I maybe wrong). Anyways, u take med school classes over the summer; if u meet their min GPA requirement, you're in. They choose people for this program very carefully.

Good info. Thanks for clearing that up.

I heard that UT tries to make sure they offer spots to students from one of the six schools of Tennessee Board of Reagents. Can anybody confirm?

Geez, Shadow14. You sure killed the conversation on this thread. And no, I cannot confirm.

This long wait is so painful. Are we gonna be that lucky to hear smtg before April the 23rd? I think that is when we will know for sure if we are WL, accepted or rejected. :scared:

I doubt it... April 23 seems SO far away though. :scared: X 2

Good luck with the wait! Are there updates you can send in? Papers published, new classwork, really awesome grades (even if it's just the midterm grade) in science courses, a new hobby, awards, etc seem like they'd be relevant. I think they really do continue to review the people on hold if new information comes up, so it can't hurt. 🙂

Hey guys, I WITHDREW my acceptance today so hopefully one of you lucky dogs can take my place! GL!

Wow! I thought I saw one of your previous posts in which you said that you would definitely attend UT in the fall. I may mistaken your SDN name for someone else's.
Anyway, hopefully some of us will benefit from the open spot!🙂

Sorry simodk, I called it already. You can take the next one.

Does anyone have an idea on how many slots there are still left for this year's incoming class? Thanks

Haha No I never said that but there are two other rocknactions on sdn with practically the same name lol we all had the same avatar at one point too... on purpose of course... lame I know. Anyways, good luck!

I dont think anyone knows the answer to this question. Some people try and guess but they can be way off.

Final committee meeting will be April 23rd. Final decision letters will be out no later than April 30th. Happy Waiting, all.

speaking of avatars, yours creeps me out.

I never said that either though.

Haha yeah I looked through the thread and there was no rocknaction that said that...

Once people have decided which school they're going to, they should all get the same avatar. That'd be sweet!

I just received an interview invite from UT and was wondering if anybody interviewed with Dr. Ramasubbareddy Dhanireddy and James Edward Farris? This is my first interview, so I'm a bit nervous and just want to know any experiences with these interviewers. Thanks!

When are you interviewing BCT? I'm interviewing with Mitchell Watsky and Gerald Presbury. Anyone know anything about them? This is also my first interview, but I only applied to 3 places and UT is my top choice so I am nervous and scared as hell.

I did interview with Dr. Dhanireddy last cycle. He is a very laid back and easy to get along with interviewer. I did my non-academic interview with him. We talked about the status of the health-care system in the US, etc. As I recall he is a neonatologist, and once you get him started on his field of choice, he will talk your ear off about it. He was by far my favorite interviewer.

well what about Dr. Owen Phillips and Dr. Raymond Walker?

Owen Phillips is one of my absolutely favorite people, both as an admin and as a lecturer. She's incredibly funny, very laidback, and just a great person. You should have an awesome interview with her.

Nice to see interview invites are still going out. Anyone receive any decisions recently or just the "we haven't made a decision yet" letters?

Hey! I had Dr. Presbury and I loved him! I was freaked out by last years forum when I read that he once made a girl cry in an interview, but he and I got along wonderfully. The 3rd year students that took me around told me that he likes to intimidate interviewees and that he has a tendency to be non-conversational (just kind of a question asker that makes you uneasy). But, he and I had a great conversation. He was very nice...we even laughed and joked! He was my academic interview so we went through my AMCAS and then talked about my life. He even made me feel more confident when he told me my MCAT score was JUSSSST fine (I was freaked out because I had a sub 30). I think he just wants you to be yourself. Go in there and showcase your true love for medicine! So needless to say, I had a great time interviewing with him and I got in! 🙂 GOOD LUCK!

Uh oh. How did your interview go auburn? Did he bombard you with questions and what kind of questions did he ask? Thanks guys. I am so freaking out.

I just got the "your letter is on the way" email. This means that I'm not accepted...right?

It was the dreaded rejection letter.
Good luck everybody!!!

Sorry to hear that, GL2814. Has anyone from the "final decision has not been made" heard anything recently. Obviously, I have not. Good luck to everyone who is not taking up my spot.

I withdrew my application and my interview invite today. Wanted to wish you guys the best of luck in the rest of this cycle!

Cheers!

Negative, I'm still waiting too. Is anyone considering applying to the Masters in Pharmacology program? I interviewed with a couple of people who are in the program this year, but I don't know if they were accepted to the med school or not.

Did anyone interview yesterday (March 22)?

No one from the pharmacology program has been accepted at this point. After interviewing, letters said that the committee was waiting for final grades from two classes ending in late Feb. No one has heard anything since then.

Has anyone even gotten an acceptance in the past 2-3 months? It seems like from reading the forum that everyone has been put on hold, and that they have just been interviewing for the waitlist. I just received my "letter is on the way" yesterday e-mail.

Hello everyone. I have been watching this thread for a while. I interviewed in January and am in the hold category as I see many of you also are. I am also planning on applying to the Pharmacology Masters program for next year if I am not accepted. However, I must say that it is disheartening that none of the current students have been accepted yet and it is almost April. Seems some of the other similar programs might be a better choice at this point.

Anyone know how the current students did in medical pharmacology with the M2s or have any insight on what they think of the program so far? Although, they might be hesitant to give any negative feedback if they are still waiting to be accepted.

The masters program is new. This years crop is the first year to have gone through it. I think after April 30th we'll have a better idea of how these applicants did.

Just joined the "no decision has been made....." club...sigh....at least it's not a rejection. Do people still get rejected after the "no decision has been made" letter or is this simply the waitlist? And does anyone know the difference between "on hold" and "no decision" for UT? This waiting is going to be painful....

Same thing. They review your file periodically and may or may not accept. I interviewed in Dec. and they have looked at my file twice since then. At this point, I think they probably won't look at old files until the final decision meeting on April 23rd. Everyone should know their decision by April 30th.

Clearly we will have a better idea about the Pharm program after they hand out the last round of decisions and I have sent in my application. However, I would have thought at least one or two would have been accepted by now. Xslim said above they interviewed in Feb. and the committee was waiting on grades for two classes that ended in late Feb. So I would assume the committee has received their grades for those classes by now and would have been able to make a decision on a few, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I am definitely interested in seeing how their acceptance rate compares to other similar programs around the country, but at this point I doubt many people are overly eager to start the program.

I don't think Inkpen meant they are literally interviewing for a waitlist spot, but that it appears they aren't handing out hardly any acceptances at this point so it appears people are interviewing for spots that aren't available and therefore for a spot on the waitlist. I think they are probably going to wait and comparatively review all of the remaining applicants and people in the "no decision" category together at the end of April. Hopefully, they hand out some acceptances then as well as form the waitlist. The waiting continues...

I see. Thanks for the input. Do you know whether anyone ever gets rejected after the "no decision" letter or is this simply the waitlist if they decide not to accept you come April 23rd?

when did you interview?

last week; i was informed that we were not interviewing for the waitlist from my interviewers, but i get the sense that there are not too many spots left which essentially equates to a waitlist
