thanks again for everyone's input. does anyone know when they plan on starting to reapply for the next cycle?
Top 25.![]()
Congrats Flash.
Is that top 25 alternates or top 25%? Either way is great.
Also, how did your experience this year differ from last year (i.e. your feeling after the interview and with talking with the committee and any differences in the waitlist letter or what not).
Generic Student said:Got my position as "the lower half" which is probably a euphemistic way of saying near the end of the list. It seems they give the best news they can and lower half sounds a lot better than the 4th 4th. I'll stick around on the alternate list and see what happens. Statistically I think I may be struck by lightning while winning the lottery when my acceptance call comes. Good luck to you all.
I called Nelson a couple of times today, but he didn't pick up or it went straight to voicemail. So what are everyone's plans for next year if this doesn't go through?
does anyone know how many have been accepted off of the waitlist so far? hoping to hear some good news in the coming weeks. good luck to everyone!
I missed a call from Nelson Strother yesterday (!), and since I was in the boonies where my phone didn't work I didn't get the message til this morning. So now the waiting game begins til Monday. He left an ambiguous sounding message just asking that I call him back. Any thoughts on what this might be? Folks who've been accepted off the wait list, was your notification by phone?
Thanks! 😱
Talked to Nelson the other day and I'm in the top 50!
He said they've already made about 9 offers off the list.
Let's hope it keeps moving
Good luck everyone
sure: 3.59 science gpa, 3.56 total gpa, 29P mcat, 1 year as a full-time research tech, 2 summers of volunteering and shadowing, 2nd time applying...
Still keeping fingers crossed for acceptance
That mystery phone call was an ACCEPTANCE!! Got an email from Diane Sunday evening telling me my acceptance packet was in the mail. What a blessing!
I'm currently holding an acceptance at Quillen. Anybody know how long we have to respond to the acceptance offer? And anyone else trying to decide between these two great schools? I'm having a hard time choosing bc they excel at such different things. Thoughts?
You can get the best of both worlds by attending ETSU and doing your 3rd and 4th year rotations in Memphis. So you will attend the better school and get better clinical experience.
Thanks VitalArmor, that's my breakdown as well. You say go to ETSU then do clinicals in Memphis - how would I do that? wouldn't I have to transfer to UT to do my rotations with them?

Talked to Dianne today, she said that "30-odd" people have been offered admissions (as of this Tuesday) and that most people offered admissions have accepted - My analysis is if you're not in the top 1/4th or so, chances are looking rather iffy of getting in.
Thanks for the update!
I have a general question..is anybody here on the waitlist at UT, but accepted to another school, started filling out their loan apps? Or are you just waiting to see if you'll get offered an acceptance to UT? I'm just wondering because it's getting late and I'm scared that I will have trouble getting loans before classes start..
Actually I am only clear on how UT works. You can do every rotation in chatanooga-now that they have a psych rotation available (yes this means core rotations and elective rotations-I know because my wife is an M-3 and in rotations at UT). I was unaware that ETSU forces you to do rotations only in Johnson city, I had not heard that. You may want to ask. Thanks VitalArmor, that's my breakdown as well. Well bananastand, if eqiuos is right you might not have any trouble getting in this year. If they take 60-65 people from the wait list and you are in the top 50 the math is with you. Always has been. lets say that out of 30 people 25 have accepted. If every person they ask accepts from now on they could get all the way through 70 on the wait list. Just let us know when it happens. I would be curious to know how many people have accepted by the time they get to you....might give us suckers lower on the list some more false hope to cling to🙄Any update on waitlist movement or acceptances offered?

Thanks everybody for your helpful responses. Quillen does require cores to be done "in-house" so to speak, that's why I was curious about VitalArmor's comment.
Medgal, Diane told me I have 2 weeks from the day I receive the acceptance packet, but could have extra time if I need it.

For what it's worth, Medgal01, accepted students at UT have yet to receive any news on financial aid as well due to adjusting to the new SAFRA regulations passed with the health care reform bill.
When I last spoke with Nelson he said there are usually significant movements on the wait list the first week of june and the last week of June into the first week of July. After that....who knows? Also it is the first day of June that UT contacts other medical schools of students already holding acceptances (at other schools) and lets them know they are about to offer an acceptance. This promotes movement on the wait list I assume. 🙂It seems that there hasn't been a lot of WL movement this past week. I wonder if there will be any significant WL movement coming mid-June...
