Accepted by mail today (10/19)!!!! 😀 OOS Florida...My first acceptance! I interviewed Sept. 3rd.

Good luck to everyone else!

<<< accepted IS 10/19 😀

P.S. The envelope was about 1 cm thick.

Accepted! OOS (Rocky Mountain region), interviewed mid-September.

I literally ran from the mailbox to my house to rip open the envelope and screamed when I read it. I still haven't calmed down enough to read the rest of the packet.

I'm so glad that I don't have to worry about getting in the rest of the cycle. I might not hear from my state school til March, and this definitely takes the stress out of that.

Yay!!! I'm so happy for you!

Mom called and I got in. First she felt the need to tell me that it was about yea thick and cost them 60 cents (How is there not a cents symbol on my computer?????) to send. I was like... "thanks for the incredible detail, Mom. How about you just open it?" 🙂

Rejected. 🙁 🙁 🙁

I just don't get it.

Good luck to everybody else though!!!

Sorry. Best of luck with the rest of your schools 🙂

Accepted 🙂

Great school. Not sure if I'd choose it over Vandy, but definitely an incredible place with incredible people. Congrats to all who got in!

ACCEPTED! I guess this means 4 more years at the U for me- Wahoowa! There is no doubt in my mind that this is the place where I want to be for med school. Now I just gotta make sure I don't get arrested or fail one of my classes, which is entirely possible haha (hence the username).

*Jasmine I noticed we both got rejected from VCU beforehand which was making me really nervous, but it doesn't matter cuz UVA is way awesomer!

And GL to those who weren't accepted, I hope you all get in somewhere👍

(it just occurred to me that most of you probably aren't familiar with the phrase "wahoowa". We are known as the Hoos or Wahoos at UVA, and wahoowa is just a spirited expression, don't really know how to explain it better than that.)

In hindsight, I wish I had applied to UVA. It's close to home, p/f all 4 years, no research requirement, top 25 school, sends decisions in a timely manner, AND the interview lunch is supposed to be one of the best (definitely reason #1 I'm beating myself up). So dumb! Of course, I could've been rejected pre-interview, so who knows if it would've mattered.

ACCEPTED. after freaking out that no letter had arrived yet seeing as i live 2 minutes from the med school, my dad called to say it had arrived to my home in nova. sooo incredibly excited, probably going to attend here.. looks like that uva 2010 will be changing to 2014! good luck everyone still waiting!!

Yeah it is!!!!! I am sooo excited about UVA, I've wanted to go here for school since I was a kid! Congrats medslacker and everyone else who's gotten in!!!!

I was really worried about getting rejected from VCU too, so I emailed admissions to ask why I didn't get in. They said it was due to my lack of clinical experience and they really look for that in their applicants.

Oh well, as you said, UVA is awesomer!! I hope financial aid works out so we can afford it!!!

congrats to all those who got in!

i've been sitting on a complete file since july 16 and have heard nooothing. IS, 33S, 3.46 undergrad (@ UVA), 4.0 master's biology (@ VCU).

should i call or just sit tight (ugh)??? this wait is killing me

I have remarkably similar stats to you and have been complete since the same time. No interview, no rejection...crickets.

how do you add your mdapps to your profile on sdn?

For those who have had completed files/interviews..how quickly does UVa go from receiving the application to marking it as complete to offering interviews?

..and is there a status check?

If you go to your profile, there's a slot to put in your MDApps #

No status check. I submitted my application one day, and I think I got a complete e-mail two days later. I had to e-mail the admissions office, though, because I wasn't sure if I had saved and submitted payment, or if I had actually submitted, and it wouldn't let me back in to the application to check. I was in the first batch of secondaries, and got an interview about a month after I was complete. My interview was a little over a month after that. Hope that helps.

Thanks. That gives me a decent timeline to work with to figure out when I should be hearing from them.

..btw..anyone rejected from UVa pre-interview?

After nervously checking my campus mail for several days, an envelope from UVA finally arrived.

Accepted.

I'm pretty stoked. UVA is not only a very good school, but Charlottesville might be the happiest place to spend four years.

I'm not sure how many schools can offer that total package.

Congrats KMFDM!!!!! 😀

I SOOO agree that this would be such a great place to spend our four years! In fact, I'm seriously considering having my little sister pose as a prospective undergraduate just to be able to take the grounds tour and visit UVA again 😛

They told during interviews today that they'll meet tomorrow morning and have our decisions mailed out in the afternoon. Insane turnaround.

yeah I know... I was there earlier this week and told us that we should expect something in the mail early next week. crazy awesome ...

So I was accepted and I'm looking at the conditions of acceptance and I'm a bit perplexed. What is #7?? We have to "provide proof of current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification." I don't have this certification since I never took such a course... so does that mean I can't go here?

i think you do it before you start school bro, isnt it basically a CPR + etc cert?

Thanks Brooklyn. Yeah, I think it's just CPR stuff. lol, I should have Googled prior to posting. It's like a 4.5 hour online course. I just thought it was odd that it's a requirement for matriculation but no one ever mentioned anything about it.

Also, congrats on your first acceptance!! I'm sure it's just one of many more to come. I'm sitting on my hands waiting to hear back from UCSF and Northwestern. Unfortunately, it won't be until November and December for those schools...

Are decisions mailed to your home / permanent address?

Are decisions mailed to your home / permanent address?

Yep. My mom opened mine for me and nonchalantly told me "You got accepted at Virginia... which one is that?" lol, I should have put my current address on my AMCAS.

People should get some starting tomorrow. They sent out last week interviewees letters yesterday. There was a delay so they weren't sent out on Friday.

Could people post links to where they went for their online BLS certification?

How'd you find this out, you called?

Yeah I called on yesterday. She said they weren't sent out on Friday and would be sent out in the afternoon. So I'm assuming some people should get decisions in the mail tomorrow latest Thursday. Patiently waiting....

Can I bump this? lol
Anyway I would probably prefer a non-online class if they exist. It just seems like there are a lot of different courses out there, I don't want to sink 4.5 hours and find out it was some unofficial certification that doesn't check out...

Thanks

Can't you just go through the Red Cross for CPR and AED certification?

Sorry hadn't seen this yet when I posted. They say they want a BLS card scanned on both sides I think. Maybe they just give a BLS card to you if you can prove you've completed CPR and AED?

Accepted. The envelope was mailed to my local address, not my permanent one. Good luck to everyone else!
