I got this too. Pretty depressing, especially now that I know the whole 1-5 score thing.

yah even if we are deemed "ok" for an interview, it will be low prio ones like number 3...the whole may grant you an interview thing....not looking up for VCU 🙁
 
Oh no, I'm such a loser. I just realized VCU needs 2 science faculty letters. Ugh, when I was reading the LOR requirements I was thinking in my head a clinical letter could replace one of the science letters (instead of the third letter). I'm so lame. Guess I'll have to go muster up a science letter since I already paid for this secondary.

VCU's rating scale is pretty interesting though. Good luck to those still waiting for news.
 
So once VCU has downloaded your LORs, how long did it take you guys to be marked complete? I submitted the secondary and paid the fee on 7/14, and VCU downloaded my LORs on 7/24, but my app is still marked as incomplete. 🙄

I submitted my secondary and fee on 7/25.
Just got marked complete today.
 
Do you guys think it's too late to add VCU to my primary. I got verified a while back, but thinking of applying to this school.

2. may be able to grant interview
3. would like to further review your file
4. reservations about granting interview/ goes to sub-committee

Status #3 for me today.
 
Still no status change for me. One more day this week, and then it's a long weekend wait. This is the only thing I hate about weekends... at least on weekdays you can hope for something to change.

Complete 7/23, no status changes before 6:00 pm today.
 
Interview invite - but forgot when I was complete... VCU doesn't tell ^-^;;;

I think I was complete last weekish- I can't quite remember >< I think I was complete last friday or last monday or something. 20? (my best guestimate!)

For those of you who got the invite, what was your post-secondary status category/tier? Also what time of day did you get the email?
 
seems like they're giving IS interviews
and the OOS, they're putting people on hold.
 
im a bit annoyed!! they counted my premed letter as a nonscience!! so i guess i need to send in my sciences =(

but their pdf says i need to send in the premed adviser letter if i have a committee. now im all confused..and they wont pick up

Definitely ask them about it. They had on my status page that they'd received one nonscience LOR for me when I'd sent them a premed committee letter. I wrote an email to them about it and got a really nice reply back saying that it was a mistake and they fixed it and made me complete.

I'm totally confused as well. The info says if you don't have a premed committee, you have to have 2 sciences. UVA doesn't have a premed committee, per se, just a premed advisor. Does this count?? Do we get out of the two science letters? I'm sure they have tons of people applying from UVA; wish this could have been more clear.
 
I'm marked complete and only have 1 science prof rec. Guess I got lucky

The committee's file review indicates that they would like to consider your file further. We are now in the process of scheduling interviews and will continue to do so through February. Unfortunately, the committee indicates interest in far more candidates than we are able to interview. Since we are dependent on the Committee member's schedules for interview spaces, we are unable to predict when or if we will be able to schedule you this year. Please continue to check this site to learn when further action has been taken.
 
I'm complete. I only added my LORs like a couple of days ago. It seems like they update stuff on Fridays.

I check my status at least 3x a day just in case they updated it but somehow the automatic "notification of update in last 24hours" email didn't get sent... I'm turning in to some kind of status psycho 😛
 
when i called the lady said..they read the letters and determine what type of letter it is..if the letter writer uses "I" a lot and says "I would like to recommend" blal bla..then it is considered a non sciennce letter..but this is weird because even sceince letters would eventually say this..

and the lady and the pdf document are contradictory..because the document indicates that we need a letter from premed commitee/adviser and it even goes on it say our file may not be consdiered if we do not have this letter if the school provides it..and now im really confused because..they counted one of my non sciences as sciences..and my premed adviser one as non science..

the lady also said that that amcas takes 24-48 hours to send to vcu..but after that..they are sent in batches of like 700..and so thats when they assign the letters..she said it takes about a week for the letters to go through...


i tried to call them many times after this convo once i saw the pdf document..but got a busy message for like na hr!! and trust me i called like atleast 20-25 times..so yea i guess i will call monday morning..

i just dont want to be disqualified for not getting a rec from a premed adviser when i did get one..

not so calm- are you a 2008 or 2009 uva grad?

The same thing happened to me when my letters appeared today. I'm not too worried about it as my premedical advisor is technically "non-science". Are some people seeing "premedical advisor" as the type of letter?
 
i just wrote them a letter about this..

it seems that someone is reading all the letters and seeing what type of "feeling" they are getting from it...


because one of my nonscience is sicnece..and my premed is classified as nonscience..

i hate being ocd =)

well the reason it matters is to be complete u need 2 sciences/1nonscience OR 1 premed advisert letter..so if the premed adviser is classified as nonsicience..theoretically one could never be complete..unless u send in 2 sciences..
 
Oh okay. I guess I just got lucky and happened to send in two sciences and a nonscience in addition to my "nonscience" premed advisor's letter.

I check my status whenever someone posts something about their status changes. It's making me very crazy.
 
i just want to make sure i'm not missing something - so VCU is not marking files 'complete' until they read through LOR (individual OR packet) and determine that the letters meet their requirements??

they've received my fee, secondary, plus LOR packet yet I am still INCOMPLETE and I want to know why.
 
Just got #3 as well. They sent me the check status email around half an hour ago.

Haha I read your comment, so I went to check my email. I was so excited when I saw 1 new email but forgot I had sent myself an email from lab earlier today. =[
 
Just got change of status email - interview! in-state, complete 7/24.
So. excited.
 
I just got #2....quick question. Is #3 better or #2???
