Interview invite around 2:00 pm today. Complete fairly early. They are only allowing me to select from Mondays and Tuesdays in September for an interview. This conflicts with other interviews. Does anyone think they will allow me to push my interview back into October? I'd hate to decline, but I feel obligated to the other schools at this point.

They will open up October dates 4-6 weeks ahead, so maybe you could wait a couple weeks to schedule? I don't think there's a deadline to accept the interview

I would defiantly call and tell them of your situation. It may be dangerous to assume they will automatically allow you to select an October date without letting them know why you can't interview in September. At the very least calling will not hurt your cause, while not calling until later on might.

Same here. I'm busy every Monday, and Tuesdays might not all work.

All my other invites have shown September dates only as well.

which airport is closer to SLU. the downtown one or Lambert?

Downtown airport? I lived in St Louis for almost 20 years (and actually worked at SLU hospital in a lab for 4 years), and never heard of anybody flying into there on public airlines (only private planes and flight schools). Fly into Lambert, even if you have a choice, because its a much larger airport, and has better transportation. If you arrive during daylight, you could take metrolink from the airport and get off at Grand. That leaves you about half a mile from the med school (on Grand). I would not take this option at night, even during the day, it is not a good neighborhood. A taxi wouldn't be too expensive. Its about 20 min from the airport to SLU by taxi, though I never take taxis in STL, so I don't know how expensive it would be. Are you staying at the Salus Center/Watertower Inn or elsewhere?

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Close safe neighborhoods.... The thing about STL is that driving distances are short and traffic is good 99% of the time. If you are looking for a place to stay for the interview, you might look at hotels in Clayton or in the business district of downtown (Washington ave area by the arch). Central west end is nice to live, but I don't know if there are really any hotels. Dogtown would also be nice to live

For general living, I also forgot to say the area around Lafayette Square is really great, and some of the stuff by Kingshighway near Tower Grove and the Botanical Garden is nice.

Dragonbush, Webster Groves should only be about a 8-10 minute drive to SLU medical wouldn't you think?

I would probably say 10-15 depending on where in Webster Groves and how close you are to I44. Which also reminds me that there is some nice stuff (and bad italian food) in the Hill which is really close...

Thanks a lot. I was thinking of staying with a student cos i dont drive. is that a good idea?

For those that have received interview invites, when were you complete? Upon first glance, it looks a bit random "end of July, mid July, late June, etc". I'm guessing the interviews aren't going by "order of completion"?

Are you complete asyouwereatrio? I haven't received a complete email yet.

I was complete, at least according to their website...after I submitted my app. I never received a complete email, nor did they ever have a "status" for my LORs (I don't think there's an option for it, so everyone should be complete after paying/submitting their application)

ah same here. yeah i was maybe thinking there is another email we eventually receive.

Anyone think it's too late to apply to STLU? I didn't initially because I have an issue with the pre-reqs, as in I don't have a 2nd sem organic due to my undergrad pre-med advisor's advice (long story) and STLU doesn't accept a sub of biochem in place of it. But I've been thinking, if I get in I can just take that missing class before matriculation right?

I'm just on the fence though b/c my stats aren't that amazing and applying now would put me behind. 28Q 3.6 BCPM 3.8c. with MS in bio. what do you guys think?

Does anyone know if we have the option to stay with a med student when we go to interview? I'm having difficulty finding information about this.

I believe you can; there is a form to fill and you need to send them $25.

Interview invite, submitted on 6/28

Congrats! It doesn't' seem like they're going in a particular order then..assuming you got the invite today. I mention that because a handful of previous posters were complete in random dates--late july, late june, etc.

Thanks! Oh sorry, I should have said that I got the invite last Wednesday but I posted today because I didn't have internet access last week.

Aww, okay..well...never mind about what I said then haha. Guess I'm just not liked by SLU.

Interview invite today as well...complete as of yesterday lol

Anyone know what the format of the interview is? E.g., 3 to 1, 1 to 1.

Secondly, how many interviews are there?

Thanks!

Congrats on the invite. When you set up your interview, you should be able to view your itinerary, which will show you when your interview is, and who it is with. Assuming this is the only one (and I may be wrong) then I would guess that it's a 1 on 1 interview. Anyone, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks! Yeah I didn't bother to click any of the dates yet as I am still trying to determine what works best. Thanks for letting me know the specifics ahead of time.

My interview isn't until the afternoon, and the tour isn't until 11:00. The itinerary shows no activities prior to the tour, so does that mean I don't come in until 11:00? Are there no morning activities?

I think it says arrive 15 minutes before your first scheduled activity so make it 10:45am.

I've been complete since July 20 and I haven't heard anything from them. Should I e-mail and ask?

I'm in pretty much the same boat as you. I'm not going to email though cause on the login page it says it may be several months til we hear anything from them.

Same boat FWIW. I too am not going to call or email due to stated long processing times.

Plus, the interview invites from this school have seemed bizarre and out of nowhere. Seems like a mix of people who are just done and from long ago. It also doesn't seem like there have been a ton.

Really testing my patience but also hoping for the best.

Haha yeah....I live in St. Louis, and sometimes I am just really tempted to march into their admissions office and demand to know whats taking so long!

Somehow I don't think such an arrogant display would win me any interviews in the long run. 😀

Does anyone know if we can leave our luggage at the admissions office on the day of the interview?

I think I read that somewhere, but I can't remember for sure...

Best Taxi Service is Laclede Cab. Cheapest from the Lambert to St. Louis, and around the city as well.

You can ask if you can join one of the tours. That will show you are interested and give you somthing to write about if you need to write an update letter.

Hi guys, how long did it take to receive a 'complete' email after you submitted 2nd app? I submitted mine on Aug. 14. and still haven't heard anything back. Should I be concerned???🙁

No complete email I belive.

Hi dragonbush, which neighborhood in St Louis is safe and not far from SLU by driving? Thank you very much in advance!

Most of the med students live in Tower Grove, The Hill, and Central West End (though a few live in downtown or by the Botanical Gardens). Each have their pluses and minuses, and safety is really a tough thing to judge. Saint Louis is odd in that you can have a really nice, upscale neighborhood one street over from a very sketchy neighborhood. I live further out in Crestwood since it's a quiet, safe area (about a 15 min. drive usually.... unless there's major road construction or an accident or something).

Does anyone know if we have the option to stay with a med student when we go to interview? I'm having difficulty finding information about this.

You can definitely stay with a med student (for a small fee... they'll give you info when you set up your interview), and I would highly recommend that. Make sure to ask them about recommendations for housing and such if you do.

On another note, don't get too stressed out if you don't have interviews yet. My interview offer came in Dec. for a Jan. interview. After an acceptance offer, I came and toured SLU (I had done a regional interview and hadn't seen the campus yet) in March, and interview season was still in full-swing (and I know of at least one of my classmates who interviewed that day). If any of you guys have any questions about SLU, feel free to message me.

You can login and check your status on their site.

Can you? Cause once your application is complete it says all future communications will be made by email. Am I not at the right place?

This is what I thought too but maybe there is a separate website? 😕
