Waitlist letter today. Interviewed 11/18. My preference was Navy. It was a little bittersweet with the Navy already being at capacity and this being my best case scenario...but it's also not an actual acceptance and there's more waiting to be had. I'm also worried because I'm waiting for the results from my physical and I'm pretty sure I have a disqualifying condition. It's true that you need to be medically cleared prior to being pulled from the waitlist, right?

Only after April 15th. Keep them updated on anything you do, if it's your top choice send a letter of intent. The waitlist doesn't have numbers they just pick the best candidate off as spots become available. Good luck and I hope to see you in June! :xf:

Just got my conditional acceptance letter in the mail yesterday. Whooheee! Every step of this process makes me more nervous and excited about military, school, and the rest of my life!

Can anyone post a link to the Facebook USUHS c/o 2015 page? I can't find it via the search option.

Sorry to hear about the waitlist and rejections that has been handed out recently. I hope you will either gain entrance to USU after May 15 or have an acceptance elsewhere.

Can anyone speak to getting a blood pressure waiver, I am almost positive ill be needing one. Does anyone know if that is a deal breaker for USUHS (i am watlisted navy). This is one of my top schools and I would really hate to be DQ'd for that one thing. Any info helps thanks!

I think it just depends on whether it can be controlled through meds, diet, exercise, etc.

Hey everyone! I have a question. A while back a group of us received an update letter from admissions that said they had reviewed our file but were postponing making a decision until later, and that we would get a phone call from them by Jan 15. snowjunkie, kitty222, ald88, joloeo, I think you guys got the same letter I did. Anybody hear back yet? Anyone else out there in the same situation? I called the admissions office today a few times but couldn't get through. I was thinking of flying out there and ringing the front doorbell... Hope everyone's doing good, happy new year and best wishes!

Alright, so, I interviewed 9/30 and was placed on hold until January 15th. On 1/3, however, I received a fall grades request, and promptly obliged. Since then, I have received NO word and tomorrow is the 15th (a Saturday and holiday weekend). What's the deal?! If anyone has any insight as to what might be going on, please reply.

I received a letter from dodmerb, I am medically qualified. I am glad to have that out of the way. I was a bit nervous... Now for more waiting.

Still no word here.

No word here either. From posts in the past year, it did seem as if calls were made during the weekend. Who knows if that applies this year...but this is a three day weekend so that may be a different case. Sigh...I have resigned to the idea that I may be waiting until next week.

Hi - I'm interviewing next week, as a ROTC student, do I need to bring my cover to the interview in uniform? I heard that no one wears covers on the facility?

Thanks.

Per the student manual,

"The area within the walls and central courtyard of the USU
complex is a no-hat/no-salute area; outside the walls (i.e., off the bricks in
front of the USU building on the university grounds), officers in uniform
will be covered and render/return salute"

I got my unconditional acceptance in the mail this week. It feels so nice to not have anything *pending* any more.

Got the kiss of death today, guess I won't be rejoining the Air Force after all.

You can still do HPSP with the AF and a civilian school, have you applied to any civilian schools?

Schedule an appointment with the school and talk to them about your application if you are thinking about reapplying.

Bottomline, find another way and make it work! DO NOT GIVE UP

I got my call on a Saturday, so yes they will call on weekends.

Those who already had the interview, what was the format of your interview (open or close)? Were you notified that they would only have your essays to look at?

They have your essays (amcas and from your secondary) and your list of activities from amcas. Most of the interviewers don't really look at them (I interviewed at USUHS last year and this year and only one of my four interviewers looked at any of my stuff). They don't have your grades or mcat scores.

I got the same grade request via email on that day and i sent them as asked.

Dr. Calloway called me on the 15th, leaving an ambiguous voicemail (when I got to the phone a second too late) saying she would try to reach me again on the 18th. Does this mean I'm in or does Calloway call applicants for other things?

Quick question to the women who have interviewed at USUHS (or for guys who have observed this...) - how did you wear your hair on interview day? Up or down? If up, bun or ponytail?

Thanks for your input!

Mostly up in a bun from what I saw

I think it was mixed, down, pony tail, bun. I wore my down both times. I don't think you have to adhere to any military standards (aka bun). You're not in uniform. Where what's comfortable and make sure it looks professional.

Cool, thanks. 🙂

So i posted a few weeks back about how I got a strangely ironic phone call from the admissions office confirming my address so that they could send me a hold letter (never actually received that letter). Over the weekend I got the "recommended for selection..and approved by Dean" waitlist letter. Still ALIVE!!!! I chose Navy.

I think that might mean for some of you still waiting that they are a little backed up. I interviewed 10/28, and if I didn't get that phone call this would have been the first thing I've heard in over 2 months.

For those of you interviewing at USUHS on 20-January (and future Thursdays hopefully), a group of us MS-1s have to decide to offer a common meeting ground for the Wednesday night before for any and all interested. A slew of us are going to try to make it to Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery to grab dinner and answer any questions you folks might have ~6:00 pm. This is a completely informal and not-all-sanctioned event, but something we thought would have been nice when we were going through the interview process. The food is good and could be a cool opportunity if folks are able to link up. (www.rockbottom.com/bethesda)

Good luck to everyone interviewing.

Go Navy (yes my login is my old alpha for you USNA people...)

I wore my hair down, and I got accepted on October 16th so I really don't think it matters they are much more interested in what you have to say and how you answers their questions. 🙂

Anyone else here besides me trying to get a medical waiver? Id like to know how things are going on your end

Long and stressful? I was medically Dq'd for vision but then they requested a remedial. I promptly sent that in and then waited. Eventually I had to call them before they sent that up for review. They then informed me over hte phone that now I need two other remedials for completely differnt things....It is a terrifying and disheartening process.

How is yours going?

How long after waiver approval does the unconditional acceptance come?

Hang in there. It came down to a lot of persistence and a little bit of luck to get my hearing waiver. It's only January; there's still time... 👍

I got my conditional paperwork in the mail yesterday, 6 days from the acceptance call. This is more a time capsule post for those stalking the forum next application cycle...

I really liked Bethesda, the school, being close to DC and NIH...I think I'm in 😍.

Hey guys anybody from Dec 2nd hear anything? Do acceptance phone calls come from private numbers?

I haven't heard anything yet but I thought they only did the 1st and the 15th of the month? I am starting to get really nervous!!!

I am not sure about dates; with regard to security clearance do they let you know if you have "passed" (ie as they do with DoDMERB??)

I believe you will receive your unconditional acceptance once you're cleared for your security clearance (and physical).

They just check to make sure all the info is there on your security clearance and they might run a background check or something, but they don't tell you anything about your security paperwork unless you missed something and you won't get a security clearance until sometime around when school starts. (I seem to remember hearing/reading that somewhere but cannot remember where). I have my unconditional and they have not mentioned anything about my security paperwork to me. If you want to know about any of that stuff call the security office and they should be able to help you. You won't have any problems unless you have a criminal record (not just a speeding ticket), if you do I would probably try and figure out if you'll even be able to get a clearance sooner than later because you may not find out that you are not eligible for your secret clearance - and therefore usuhs - until you have already dropped other offers.

The only thing I know for sure is that they won't contact you about your security stuff unless there is a problem before your uc comes. The rest of the stuff is based on something that I think I read here or heard at the interview... but I'm not 100% on that. Either way, if you have no record you don't have to worry about it at all, if you do than be proactive and figure it out as soon as possible just to be safe.

Man. This wait feels indeterminable. Did anyone hear some news this week? Last I heard they started sending notices for the 11/18 interview date. Also, has anyone received a wait list for the AF yet?

At the interviews this week CAPT Calloway said that the class
was not full yet, for what it's worth...

I havent- still hoping army has spots... fingers crossed!

Is it possible to bring your carry-on bag with you on the day of the interview (or do they have a place for you to leave your luggage)? I want to check out of the hotel the morning of...so wondering if this is doable

There was a bunch of luggage sitting in the admissions office, so I guess other people were doing the same thing. That's what it looked like anyway. You might call admissions just to check.

Yes, you can leave your luggage in the admissions office. I did and a lot of other people did.

Does anyone know when the second look is this year? I couldn't find it on the USUHS webpage. I noticed in previous years it was in April. Just wondering if anyone had any specifics on it. thanks

Don't hold your breath for them actually having one. My application year (2 years ago now), was the very first year they ever had one, and yes it was in April. Last year they didn't have enough money, so there wasn't one. This year, who knows

Anyone know?

It depends, they send the unconditional acceptances out in batches. Mine came after about one month and I was already medically approved when I got my conditional, but I've seen that some people have gotten them slower or faster than that on here and last year's forum.
