I got the status change email too, but I can't create an account yet. "SQL Server Error." Is everyone getting the status change email, or only the first email?
 
What letter do all your last names start w/?
 
QuesoandFromage, are you getting a "SQL Server Error?"

I got two emails, the initial one and the status change one (but I can't see what the status update is). I'm in the second half of the alphabet.

I believe I get the invalid birthdate/AAMC ID error. My guess is they are still inputting all the info from applicants? I really have no idea what order its done in. Maybe its by ID number or submission date? (I submitted 6/10 if that counts for anything, verified around 6/20)

Well, as long as you got verified before 6/25 I think your app would be among the ones transmitted by amcas on 6/25 (the date fo the first transmission). So my guess is that all of us who got verified before 6/25 are basically in the same boat. Mine got verified on the 15th, I'm also getting the invalid aamc ID error.

I was getting this error as well when trying to create an account. My problem was that I was using characters in my password that weren't allowed. When I just stuck to using only letters it worked. Congratulations to all who are already screened in!

Wow thank you so much! Yes, that was the error, make sure you use no numbers in the password. Screened in as well. 🙂
 
aw theyre already screening people too? Should those of us who cannot create an account yet be worried? I figured I am good enough to pass the initial screen haha

No, it just means that UCSF hasn't received your AMCAS application yet..or hasn't downloaded it yet...No big deal...so we'll be a bit later in the cycle..not detrimental!
 
Yeah...I don't think any screening has occurred yet. Being able to make an account just means they're starting to take a look at your app now.

Haha, not impressive enough to figure out you're not supposed to use letters in the PW. Thanks again so much. I was verified 6/14. Not sure what the initial screening criteria is.

Easiest secondary ever, especially after slogging through Brown's 6500 character essay.

As a non-traditional I keep chuckling every time I get the "invalid birthdate" error. I hope it's not because I'm too old. :laugh:

Hey, can someone post the email address that these invites/messages are coming from? I wanted to set up a Gmail filter to do extra special handling on these emails.

Don't worry. I'm IS and verified the morning of 6/2 and in the same boat. It'll come eventually.

The email address is [email protected]. I got mine last night but some people got it earlier. Don't worry, I'm sure they are just taking time to process and download all the apps. :luck:

Only optional essays relating to 1) if you're interested in their special programs, 2) if you're going to be out of town for any days during the interview season, and 3) if you want to update anything. They request you return it within 4 weeks. Pretty sweet.
 
Am I the only one who only got 1 email instead of 2? I'm still at the welcome message stage.

still cant create an account 🙁 i know they get A LOT of applicants but I hope this isnt a sign of bad things to come (like a rejection)
 
I don't think we should be worried about not being able to make an account unless we were invited to make one and couldn't...The system is designed (in theory) for those that UCSF has designated, which are those that have their downloaded AMCAS apps in UCSF database.
 
Are secondaries appropriate places to talk about things happening in the future?
Does this fall under the realm of updating activities?

Also, does anyone understand the rationale behind pictures?
 
From last year's thread and from this year's so far, it looks like people who screened in receive 2 emails at once. But I only received 1 email since yesterday...is that not good?

Out of the people who received emails, is it always 2 at a time if you're screened in?

Some students receive a sort of "auto" secondary, though no one knows for sure what the criteria is for this. You'll see this at most UCs where a secondary comes in immediately with the AMCAS received email. Don't worry if you didn't receive this; your application will go through a review and then it'll be decided whether you are offered a secondary. Is it nice to get a quick secondary? Of course, but don't read much into it because admission depends on everything in your file and not just some initial screen.

Just got the double e-mail. It's funny how these emails are coming at such late times in the night. They must work some serious over-time at UCSF.

I noticed that when reading last year's app cycle thread. Lots of emails/invites happening after 8pm pacific time.

I just got the status update email as well. I wasn't following this site so I just thought it was a quick rejection. Nope, secondary request, yay!
I'm OOS, verified 6/8, btw.

From being on the other side of the interview desk, I can tell you that having a picture with a file helps a lot in remembering exactly who the person was, what they said, and how you felt about them overall. I'm sure that this photo is just a way that the adcoms can better make use of their time when they are discussing who to invite for interviews. It's much easier to scan over a picture to remember than it is to look through the file for salient details. It is in no way a beauty contest. The only way I can see the picture being someone's downfall is if they obviously don't take the process seriously and send in a pic with a 40 in their hand 😉
 
Does it take really high numbers to automatically receive 2 emails instead of waiting to be screened in after the initial email? I am IS with pretty good numbers and this is kind of freaking me out haha.
I wonder what differentiates between the people who receive 2 and those who receive 1 and wait.

I am OOS with numbers above UCSF mean GPA and MCAT, and I received the first email this AM:

got the secondary invite last night at 11pm.... Yay!

This means i have a shot at having a shot...

UCSF was/is definitely on of those "ya... its never gonna happen" schools for me...
 
Has anyone in this thread not received a UCSF email stating receipt of application? I just hope my gmail isn't acting up...
 
I still haven't. I'm an OOSer applying to the area because my gf lives there. Too bad that doesn't qualify me as IS 😉

I think the autosecondaries are all pretty much instantaneous or within a few hrs. Anything later probably involved some human oversight.
