Just so you know, if you got your speeding tickets in Ohio, they're considered to be misdemeanors and so they'll show up on your CBC.

One speeding ticket and one at-fault accident - both 6 years ago in Ohio. Off my record now, I would assume. Thanks for the heads up with regard to other schools though - that is, if they don't say "excluding traffic violations." My third was 2008 in another state.

Your speeding ticket from six years ago will definitely show up your CBC for all schools to see - it may have disappeared from your driving record but will still be on your criminal record. When I applied last cycle I had an Ohio speeding ticket from six years ago show up on my CBC.

I have received an e-mail about the parent financial support from the school, you can now pick no and put you are in Ohio

Do tickets from other states which consider their moving violations to be summary offenses, not misdemeanors, show up on the CBC?

Speeding tickets in Ohio are only considered misdemeanors if you were going so many mph above the speed limit (i think it's 21mph over, not sure). If you call up the BMV they'll let you know if a ticket is on your CBC.

This is wrong. Check titles 4511.01, 4511.21, and 4511.99 of the Ohio Revised Code and you will see that (unless the community in which the ticket was received has established otherwise) all speeding tickets are considered to be minor misdemeanors in Ohio.

Quick question!

I haven't been verified by AMCAS yet, but I already got a secondary from UC. Has that happened to anyone else? I'm not sure if I should wait to submit until I've been verified or go ahead and submit now since it's not very long. I submitted my primary about 2 weeks ago....did everyone else have to wait this long to be verified?

I turned in my primary 7/1 and I'm still waiting to be verified. If you check out the official verification thread: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=734116

you can see how fast they're verifying. According to the thread, hopefully I'll be verified sometime early next week :xf:

I received the U of Cincinnati secondary too and have already submitted it (on 7/15 I think). There was no indication that you must wait for your primary to be verified first. Some schools will require you wait (like Boston U, but it specifically says you can't submit the secondary until your primary is verified or else some sections will be blank).

So, I have received the like to the secondary, but its not working...i havent been verified yet, and i have tried 2 browsers as well...anyone else have this problem?? Thanks!

I am having this same problem! I just want to finish it and send it in! I wonder if maybe too many applicants are trying to access the same thing?😕

I'm having the same problem! I attended a summer program with them, so I've used this system before (username and all)... would that have anything to do with it?

I think it probably does, I applied to the ROSE program and when I went to submit my secondary I was having a bit of trouble. I had to end up using my old username and resetting the password.

Just received/submitted secondary--good luck everyone!

I submitted my primary 7/1 and I was finally processed by AMCAS this morning. I also received my secondary from Cincy about 1 week ago, my understanding is that you can submit the secondary whenever, but the school will not consider your file until your primary has been verified and your application fee has been paid...

I just submitted my secondary, godspeed application.

Hope this helps, best of luck everyone!

Anyone know has fast Cincinnati is in terms of correspondence?

has anyone heard anything about interview yet?

does anyone know from the msar what the school median mcat was for last year's class? and the range? i have an older version and was curious as UC is one of my top choices.

33... 11s across the board. 3.7 GPA/3.7 sGPA

quick question regarding the traffic violations, if i got two tickets but they were both reduced, can i put only the amended charge?

quick question
What do we do for the recommendation section?

I sent a packet from my undergraduate institution to AMCAS in primary, got verified, seems like other schools already have received my letters.

What do we do here? it seems like there's bunch of information and not much "selection" to be done

As long as i've done it through AMCAS, am i all set?

12: 52 -- interview invite from Dr. Manuel! 😀

Edit @ texasholdem: you should be fine. Confirm the receipt on your medonestop status page.

this school doesn't seem too friendly towards OOS applicants and there was no place to indicate that half my family went to uc and my grandfather was a professor there. this is the only school that i have any affiliation with but there isn't even a chance to mention it the interview because its MMI. should i send them an email or something?

It probably wouldn't hurt... although the fact that they don't ask about family/affiliations might indicate that they don't care about that factor as much as other schools do.

Does anyone's status page say complete but also this message:

We require one (1) packet from your pre-professional committee or three (3) letters from individuals who can properly evaluate you.

Yes. And then lists the letters of mine that they have received (4).

@Diallelus: are you in-state or OOS? Stats?

I'm ready and waiting for my invite to this school :xf:

In-state, good stats compared to class avg., and EDP. I probably should have mentioned EDP before, as I think only EDP students interview on Sept. 17.

I am an M1 here right now, and can give you some insight from my experience last year. The school is very aware of the fact that the MMI doesn't allow for discussion of a lot of personal information, therefore, if you receive an interview, you will be given a "tertiary" application which includes spaces to fill out all the information that you would like them to know in addition to your primary application. They ask about all the standard stuff: research, extracurriculars, other interests, legacy information, and of course an extra space for anything you else you want them to know.

And also, I absolutely loved the MMI because it is low-stress (even though you might not believe me right now) and actually kinda fun. You get 7-8 quick interviews with all different types of people about all different topics and are even told that if you mess up one, just take a deep breath and do your best in the rest. It FLYs by and you dont have to worry about being all informed on health care issues, prove that you researched all about the school and why you should be in, know ANY detailed scientific information, or answer stupid cliche questions like "why do you want to be a doctor?" or "what 5 words best describe you?" <----because they KNOW those answers are all scripted anyway. Its all about communication.

I already love this school and program and everyone in my class that I've talked to (which is most) really likes it too. And I think that speaks loudly for the quality of the school.

BTW, I swear I'm not a rep from U-C or anything, I just couldn't be happier with this school. 😍

wow, i really appreciate your effort in responding. i wanted to go to uc because most of my family is there (i'm in va) but it sounds like an amazing school. our stats are pretty similar so i'll just have to wait and see what happens

Has anyone tried to reschedule an interview? I got an invitation today (or rather, a status update email, which turned out to be an invite once I logged into the system) but when I click the link for "reschedule," it's giving me this message:

You do not have the necessary permissions to use this application. If you wish to apply to the University of Cincinnati's College of Medicine, you need to first submit your application to AMCAS and then submit a On-Line Secondary Application to the university at www.MedOneStop.uc.edu.

:/

AFAIK, only EDP people are getting interviews already, and we must interview on Sept. 17.

I am non-EDP also, IS and interview invite today for Sept. 17th.

That's what makes others easier to prepare for. MMI still seems kind of scary.

and f*ck michigan

The point is that you dont need to prepare for it. If you are capable of having a conversation with someone for 5 minutes, and just do it 7-8 times over about a different topic, no other preparation is needed.

Believe me, I was scared of it too, but it gives the applicant a better opportunity to prove themselves, by eliminating the dependence of an interview on "getting a good interviewer". Because your interview performance shouldn't depend on your interviewer, which is a lot of times the case when you only get to talk to 1 or 2 people total. If you dont mesh with 1 or even 2 of them, no problem; im sure you will with most of them, and they understand that here.

f*ck OSU 😡

The elimination of the "getting a good or bad interviewer" problem does seem nice. Thanks for more info.

P! botha

ps. Ann Arbor is still a wh*re

Interview invite 8/27 for 9/29 😀 Super excited !!
GPA 3.26 (long story, but last 4 years of undergrad were 3.98 and s4.0)
MCAT 39R
I'm a re-applicant and had no interviews last year - re-took MCAT and went up 5 points, took almost 50 credits in 1 year to raise my GPA even more (personal situation from 6 years ago that is pulling my gpa down) and prayed A LOT!
I'm nervous, but the MMI seems like a lot of fun so it's helping to keep me calm 🙂

Also, does anyone know what hotels are nearby? I've been mapquesting, and so far all I've found is the Holiday Inn but the reviews say that it's in a really bad neighborhood and it's making me a little nervous! Is there a website I should be looking at that deals with stuff like this? Or maybe someone can recommend a hotel? I'm not really comfortable with staying with a student host, so I'd prefer to find a decently priced hotel if possible 🙁 Any help/advice would really be appreciated 🙂

no, I was out of the country when I got the invite and just got back last night so my checking of the site was apparently shoddier than I thought - not sure how I missed that! Thanks so much! 🙂

Stay at the Kingsgate Marriott. It's literally across the street-ish from the Care/Crawley building which is essentially the heart of the med school. Plus, it's really nice.

Good luck on your interview!!

Thanks! (for both the hotel advice and good luck 😀)

I got an interview at Cinci for Sept 29th  and I have a couple questions about the extra questions that they throw your way when you go to confirm the application.

"Outline your work experience by year and semester, including number of hours. If you were involved in any pursuit that took up a large amount of time (examples include, but are not limited to, athletics, orchestra, student government, etc.), outline it by year and semester, including number of hours. Do not include work or other activities stated on your AMCAS application."

For this question, I don't have any additional things that I didn't put on my AMCAS. I only filled out 11 or the 15 possible spots on the AMCAS. Should I just put N/A.

Also, for this question:

Discuss science grades lower than a “B”, semesters or years where your science GPA was lower than your average GPA, withdrawn (“W”) courses, and unusual course selections or changes in major.

Do they want me to go class by class> I don't know a way to answer this without making excuses.

I guess my overall question is why are they asking these questions and who is seeing the answers?

Call and ask the admissions office. They can give you the best answer for those.

so I paid for my application on 7/29/10, but somehow i noticed my app wasn't submitted still, so i did it today 9/5/10. Is there any point in submitting it anymore? If so how long does it take to get a response from them?
