nburnett: when they sent you the link to schedule your interview did they provide you with username/password info. I have tried my AMCAS ID and my password for U of L's site and it is not working. I enabled cookies, have tried different browser's, etc. Tried calling admissions office, however they are closed for the weekend. Any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem, so it's not just you. There's probably something wrong with the system. I'm going to call them on Monday.

I tried to call before 5 and it said the office was closed so I sent an email. Will let you know if I get a response as well. Felt kind of silly not being able to login, makes me feel better that I'm not the only one.

I'm not sure about the username/password screen. Whenever I got my email it didn't come up--it just took me straight to the interview page without having to login. I wish I could help you guys more, but I think your best best is going to be calling or emailing the admissions office on Monday when they are open again.

Well I have a question. Im just about to submit my secondary. I have a few more hoping to get done by the weekend. Am I terribly late? I def had money problems not to mention I just got let go from my job.

Most people on SDN encourage a one week turnaround for secondaries, two weeks at the most. However, given that not everyone who applies to med school is as neurotic as SDNers, getting your secondary in early September probably won't put you at a huge disadvantage.

Did SDNers interview today? What'd you think of it?

I interviewed yesterday. The interviews were pretty low stress, just like the interview feedback says. Prepare for questions like the ones referenced and you will do fine.

Hi all, I'm new and glad to see this thread is short and un-intimidating.

Congrats to all that have already had an interview/gotten an invitation!

My secondary was complete at the end of August, so I'm still waiting to hear back. Have any OOS students received interview invites yet?

Yes, of the three weeks of interviews that ULSOM has been conducting, several OOS students have been interviewed.

No, sorry. The school doesn't release that type of information. It's still a bit early to be worrying about not having received an interview. But, just to cover your bases, make sure that you've submitted every single thing that the school requested for in order to review your application. If you haven't, it will just sit there until the end of the cycle without being viewed.

So you suggest calling/emailing to ask? I know I certified my secondary, printed and mailed what they wanted w/ my check, and all my LORs are in. My status says my app was submitted 7/13 and fee received 7/16, which leads me to think it's all there but I guess you're right that you can never be too sure.

Yeah, it can't hurt to call the admissions office in order to make sure everything is in.

Has anyone's status updated to reflect that they've had their interview? My application page still just says they've received my secondary, but it hasn't updated to show that I've had my interview. Is it something I should call the admissions office about?

Mine was like that too, but now it says secondary requested, secondary received with dates, and then committee decision and seat request deposit(both blank)

I think it unlikely that they'll change it until a decision has been made regarding your application. So, while I don't believe that it would do any harm to call the admissions office, I also don't believe that it would be necessary.

Ok, I'm willing to believe that. 🙂. Thanks.

Mine updated to this today as well.

Very happy, I got an interview, scheduled for October 🙂

Does the University of Louisville organize/arrange for student hosts? I e-mailed the admissions office to ask about it, but I never heard back. I may try calling to ask, but wanted to ask here first to make sure I'm not missing something on the website. All I could find were the suggested hotels in the area, but no contact numbers or names of student hosts like I've seen with other schools.

They do, but we've only been asked to submit our names as potential hosts as of last week. So, they might not have the information organized as of yet. Since you haven't received a response via email, I think a phone call would be appropriate. Generally, it's well understood by the faculty and staff that the website can be difficult to navigate at times. As long as you're polite, I can't imagine that calling each and every day would negatively effect how your application is reviewed.

I got an interview invite today! Im really excited; I really wanted one from this school. And its my bday so its that much better!

Interview Invite Yesterday! I was given the option of Sept. 30, Oct. 5, and Oct. 20. I am stoked. I actually interviewed here last year and was heartbroken when placed on the waitlist then never got in. Hopefully this year will be better.

I am a little behind b/c I was on MCAT hold...but I have a quick question...may be a dumb one...

On the question "What determined your choice of college(s)?" Is it referring to medical colleges I am assuming or my choice in undergraduate.

When I checked my status today, the interview part was gone, usually there is secondary requested, secondary received, interview, committee decision, and safe deposit received..... kind of freaked me out, maybe they just decided to change the site, or did they say "ehhh, we don't really like her so we will just take that part of the check status page out!" Hahaha..... 🙂

Undergrad.

Thanks! I called, and they said they don't have a formal program "per se" but that they can give your contact information to the students that showed interest in hosting, and then one of them will contact you if they are willing and available. So I put my name on the list and hope I get a host!

And ArmyWife, those status features also changed on my secondary, so don't worry, I think the website just changed.

I am interviewing October 28, in the morning.

Do you know how Louisville does acceptances? By email or mail.

Do you know how Louisville does acceptances? By email or mail.

In the past, notice has been sent via snail mail. However, there is a rumor going around that this year's notifications will be sent via email. The school has typically had a very strict policy of to whom and in what manner notification will be distributed. I expect that will continue.

When you go in for your interview, they will answer all of your questions about when you will be notified, and they give you a nice sheet of paper explaining it all (which I'm looking at right now). They do not give out acceptances before October 15, but when they do, they will send an e-mail on the Wednesday after the committee meets (which is on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month). They will send out the e-mails by the end of the business day on Wednesday, and will also snail-mail an official letter to you on that day (although you probably won't get it for 3-5 days after you get the e-mail). They will e-mail you to let you know either way, if you get accepted or declined, or even put on the wait list or put on hold to be re-visited at subsequent admissions meetings. During my visit the admissions director said they were notorious for being slow in the past, but this year they are trying to communicate better with students and be more timely in informing them. 🙂 I LOVE this school! For everyone going to the interview, don't be nervous! Enjoy your time there, and definitely stay for the tour and go to the optional class if you can. Fingers crossed, I hope to hear back from them soon :xf:

I am interviewing here at the end of October (late MCAT retake held me up).....very good program, I visited with a pre-med program this summer. I have met and talked to a few of the people on the admissions committee all of them super nice I do not think interviews will be stressful at all.

OMG October 15th is almost here. Anxious much?!

I start to freak out a little each time I think about it. Although, based on one of the pre-allo threads, schools aren't supposed to let us know until the 16th this year (more specifically midnight on Friday). I'm not sure how many schools will actually follow that since it's only a day difference, but still.

Has anyone's status updated here? When I interviewed they said your status would update to show that a decision had been made, but it wouldn't say what the decision was until Oct. 15. It hasn't happened for me, and no one else had mentioned anything, so I'm curious.

how long did it take after everyone turned their secondary application in to find out about whether or not they received an interview?

I can't believe Oct. 15th is one day away! I hope they really email us tomorrow like they said they would

Unfortunately, I do not get to find out tomorrow. My interview is in 2 weeks...retook the MCAT in August.

I wished everyone the best of luck tomorrow though!!!

Wow. Worst night of sleep ever. Except the night before the MCAT, of course. I hope we hear something today!!!

Rumor is emails aren't going out till Monday. Anyone want to call and confirm?

Yep. I called. It's true. 🙁

Thats a load of BS. You can't tell people they will let you know on the 15th and then change their minds without telling anyone. More proof that the AAMC is worthless

Apparently they are /not/ waiting until Monday. Just got an email about 40 minutes ago with my admissions decision 🙂

"I am pleased to inform you that the Committee on Admissions considered your application and conditionally accepted you to the 2011 entering class."

The first acceptance feels so... surreal. I keep wondering if maybe they made a mistake. Congrats to everyone else who was accepted!
