I checked both the main campus and trover boxes on the application, but during the interview I think it became pretty clear that I wasn't a good fit for the Trover program. Got accepted, but never heard anything one way or the other about Trover.
 
The weather here has been going back and forth. I think meetings were cancelled due to the inclement weather. You will probably hear good news real soon!!!!😍
 
I love the south, cant wait to interview! Any words of advice from those who have already gone through it?
 
Wow they are still sending invites....The interview was casual, and I love the feel of the UofL town. I wish you luck :xf:
 
Hey everyone. I interviewed back in October and am out of state. I received an 'On Hold' decision at the beginning of January (not sure why they didn't review my file until then). I was just wondering if being on hold was generally better or worse than being waitlisted. I loved the school when I interviewed--trying to remain hopeful!!
 
well, finally got the official acceptance letter in the mail today, a month and a half after being notified via email. they are still trying to unsubsidize my seat though. 🙁 sigh. i'm about ready to just give in.

Well look on the bright side at least you have your seat....there are still people on hold or interviewing...🙂
 
Has anyone gotten a scholarship award yet? I remember the email said the letters would be mailed out in mid January...
 
I haven't either. I guess no one has...sometimes I begin to wonder if it's just me. On one side of the coin, I shouldn't be expecting scholarship money, but on the other side of the coin I fit within the description of who they award. We'll see.

What exactly do you mean they are "trying to unsubsidized my seat"? Is the class already full?
 
She means they are trying to count her as OSS
 
No, I haven't heard anything. I wonder if they already sent them out or not. I can't attend pre-orientation, so those of you going please let us know if they mention something. I'm so excited about Louisville!

I also have not heard any updates on scholarships, although as an OOS student, I don't know if I qualify.
 
I want to attend the pre orientation but I might not be able too. It would have been great to meet everyone.

As for the scholarships do they let you know even of you do not going to receive anything? Maybe they have not gotten to the scholarships due to the occassional bad weather and other admission duties.

I know I keep asking, but I am hoping for an answer.. Is there a specific laptop that we should be getting? Is anyone taking advantage of the Sprint deal being offered to UofL medical students?

Nothing has been said so far about a specific laptop. They have plenty of computers available to students in the classroom building. I think the only tech purchase that will be required/useful will be software for PDAs/smartphones. Feel free to correct me if anyone has heard differently.

If you're not the biggest fan of Sprint but are looking for a deal, AT&T offers a 10% discount for students. Not sure about Verizon, but I would bet they have a discount as well. U of L medical school provided deeply discounted smartphones in the past with plans through Sprint, so I think that is the nature of the advertising on Blackboard.

They just don't believe i moved here for personal reasons rather than to fake residency for med school. and if they can get me to pay twice in state tuition for four years, that'd be awesome!

yeah... i'm pretty sure they still have in state seats. i was accepted in december and the class was not near full then.

I know you said in the past, but is there a way to find out if they are still giving big discounts on smart phones please?

Not sure about that, but that article made it sound like they were Windows Mobile cell phones. I hate that OS personally and would much rather have an iPhone or android based phone. If you wait until June, you could probably get an iPhone 4 for $99 if Apple does what it usually does.
 
I don't think that any specific laptop matters. I know a 1st year that has a Toshiba satellite running W7 and another student with a MacBook, so Id say anything goes.

Yes, a Toshiba A85294BZ. No other laptops will work... Seriously, though. If you want to make sure everything works, get a PC. If you want to risk one or two things not being compatible (aka, not a big risk), get a Mac.

However, I would call or email the admissions office before buying one to discuss reimbursement (not brands or models tho plz).

Reasons:
1) You said "this week," instead of next week. 😉
2) They seem to like an alternating schedule... 1 on, 1 off - wrt meetings.

Reimbursement??!?!?!?
 
Well, I used the term "reimbursement" loosely, as it would be in the form of additional loan money (for the amount of the purchase as listed on the receipt). UK does this--well, at least it was in their COA last year... UofL may not do this at all. I have no idea. 😕 Hence the calling to see if they do. Sorry if the connotation gave anyone's hopes up..

I broke down and called admissions today. The scholarships information has not been mailed out. I was scared to call for nothing the lady that answered the phone was so polite.

In my experience with the staff (at least over the phone and at my interview), they are SUPER friendly. No one should be worried about calling them. Thanks for the update though!
 
I meant I was scared to call because I know right now they have so many other things they have to deal with.🙂 In addition scared that it also meant I did not get a letter because "you aint gettin no money from us":laugh:

Thank you so much for calling! I felt the same way and I didn't want to be a bother. That's great news because I was starting to wonder if I was going to get anything at all. I wish they would have let us know that though. By any chance did they mention when they might be mailing the scholarship info out? Thanks again! I'm so excited for U of L in the fall 🙂

I am sorry I did not ask that question. i did not want to be greedy and hog all the questions. 🙂 I am joking...I forgot to ask that one I was just so relieved that maybe there was still hope for me to get a thin slice of pie.
 
Put on hold AGAIN! UGH. I am so sick and tired of getting all worked up all day and then finding out at 4pm that they still haven't gotten around to discussing my file.

EDIT: Not actually "on hold", but just no decision whatsoever at all.

Same here... It's getting ridiculous.
 
Buckeye girl and Sid, I am in the same boat and know the feeling. I interviewed back on November 3rd and they still have not gotten to my app yet... Kind of frustrating.

I know it is frustrating, but keep hoping. The good thing is at least it is not a rejection.
 
Got the no decision email yesterday. I called today and asked if the class was full. They said it was 🙁 I'm crushed.

I wonder if anyone got an actual decision yesterday. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out if someone belongs on a waitlist or not, right? Ugh.
