Went ahead and withdrew from UTSW yesterday. It was a very hard decision for me as UTSW is such a good school. Good luck to everyone who's still waiting! (and I'm IS, if it matters, and as of today, I still hesitate to post which school I will likely be going.)

BTW, it appears UTSW knew which other schools I had been admitted into, even though these schools are not TMDSAS schools, and UTSW is a TMDSAS school. Quite strange to me.

Not strange at all. AAMC makes a list available to all medical schools with where candidates have been accepted.
 
Got in this afternoon. Email today at 6pm.

Excited(!), but this changes everything. Decisions decisions.

Same here. Where were you planning on going? I was going to go to UTH and put a deposit down on an apartment and everything. I'm from Dallas though, so I'll probably end up at SW. I'm super excited!

oh, and in-state, in case anybody cares!

Same situation. IS, was going to UTH, had an apartment all lined up, but it's looking like SW for me. I loved what I saw at UTH, and although UTSW sounds slightly terrifying, I just don't think I can turn down such a highly regarded school.
 
Do you guys mind me asking your stats? also did you guys send an update letter?
 
I just got in this afternoon too. So excited. I had a 34Q and a 3.9. But now I'm trying to decide between Baylor and Southwestern. Any opinions??

Congratulations! I'm a first year here at UTSW, and me and many of my friends were in the same situation as you were.

If you want to know more, you can PM me if you have specific questions or just want to know more.

I prefer PM to avoid starting a Baylor vs. UTSW war on the thread 😀
 
Same here! I'm another first year who struggled to decide between UTSW and Baylor. I love love love Southwestern and I have never regretted my decision (though thats not to say I wouldn't be equally happy had I chosen Baylor). Let me know if you have any questions about the school, why I picked UTSW, etc!

I'm also a first year (second year as of tomorrow afternoon) at UTSW. I was in the same situation at this time last year...I had put down a deposit on a condo at UTH, got accepted to UTSW a little while after graduation, and had about a week or two to decide. I've had the greatest time here, so feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Got in last week with an almost-full-ride scholarship offer off of the waitlist. Will withdraw tomorrow, so that'll open up a spot. OOS. Good luck.
 
I just got accepted via email!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IS, 34 MCAT, 3.9 GPA.

I'm accepting it, should free up a seat at UTMB.

Yeah I did send an update letter.

I just withdrew however for another school.

Damn, maybe I should've sent update letters. UTSW tricked me with their email telling all interviewees not to send them any more materials.
 
Just to provide some closure and maybe some hope to next year's waitlisted applicants, I did finally receive an OOS acceptance here at the end of June. UTSW was my first choice throughout the process, and I was so excited. Looking forward to starting in a few weeks!

Getting off the waitlist so late is really a mixed blessing (but a blessing nonetheless 😀).
