Personally, the lack of rejections here make me feel like it isn't a very small pool -- and that almost everyone gets into this pool. I might be wrong though.

edit. POOL = ON HOLD. IMO.

It is true that the pool for UVM is fairly large. I seem to remember a statistic someone mentioned which was about 2/3 of the applicants get pooled. But this means that 1/3 get rejected off the bat. So it's better to be in the 2/3 than the 1/3.

Also being pooled is similar to being placed on hold, but applicants for first round interviews will be drawn from the pool so there has to be movement in the pool at some point, unlike a hold list which (theoretically, at least) could remain stagnant the entire cycle.

I wish they would start giving out interviews! (and give me one.)

Another pooled applicant. It's better than getting the boot you guys!

Even though 1/3 of the applicants get "the boot"... we haven't heard of any yet on SDN. You think it's sampling bias? Like those who got rejected doesn't want to post it? The alternative is, like someone said, "pooled" is their version of "your file is now ready for review."

Look at previous app cycle threads.

Pooled.

Happy that I wasn't rejected.

Do a lot of pooled people get interviews? Has anyone been invited for an interview yet or does it begin after the pooling process?

I got an e-mail.

37R, 3.76 sGPA, 3.77 cGPA

I'm out of state, but went to Middlebury College in VT and spent a summer doing community mental health work in Burlington when I was in college, so I wrote about that in my supplemental essay.

I'll post my impressions from the interview day when it's over.

Good luck everyone!

WOW!! Great stats! Congrats!

...What supplemental essay? LOL

interview! 3.83/29R (double degree/non-degree grad student is probably why i stood out)

interview invite for 9/14! OOS, 3.57/31

sooooo excited.

Wow. Congrats to all the invites. Can you post when you submitted 2ndary? (Please do an edit to avoid this thread being spamtacular).

When were you guys complete?

yeah it only really matters when your secondary app is complete and not partially complete.

I guess we can't all worry too much, since a handful of us submitted on the "first day" and were subsequently "pooled" all around the same time..but I want an invite! lol.

Congrats to all those that got interviews.

Did you get emails telling you to check your status or did you just happen to look and see it had changed?

Thanks

I wasn't pooled until much much later... so I'm not expecting an invite any time soon... if at all. 🙁

You should get an email about the interview invite.

I got the interview invite a few days ago (last thursday I think) but forgot to post!

:hello: from day one of orientation. you guys are gonna love it here!!

dean waterman is the man 😎

I think I remember reading in last years thread that the adcom meets every week?? Can anyone comment on this? If so, I think we might expect a fresh batch of invites sent out in the next few days which would be...legit.

sorry, i'm new to this. what does it mean to get pooled?

After reviewing secondary applications, UVM puts students it might interview in a "pool"... the status update you should get will say "you are placed in a pool of applicants from which an interview MAY be extended" and that it doesn't guarantee an interview.

Is anyone else's app on hold for a speeding ticket or something similar?? Mine is, and admissions is being really annoying about it... I find it really weird that they put that in the secondary in the first place.

Really? I have a speeding ticket too...I hope that doesn't hold me up. That's such a weird thing to put an application on hold for.

Did they send you an email about this or something?

Mine's actually an accident, but I really don't get why they're so concerned about it. Weird.

Hmm. What do you mean by on hold? I had to put down two speeding tickets from over a year ago, but I got that "pool of applicants blahblahblah" update.

burninating the peasants! man, i haven't looked at that website in years.

Nope. I went to look at my status and it said "Your application has been put on hold because of an adverse judgment. Please email so-and-so to see about completing your application." I emailed the person and they wanted a police report (which doesn't exist), and they haven't responded since. I'm sort of surprised - UVM is generally a very nice school. The Dean of Admissions came to talk to us at my school and seemed pretty cool and laid-back...

Just got the email that they cleared everything up. I'm pooled now too, so apparently they're not discriminating too much 🙂

First interview invite!! 31/3.35, OOS (but Middlebury College alum - they looooove us). Guess they didn't care too much about the car accident incident after all, haha.

So you just got this update? I hope they are sending out more invites! Email?

Yep. They send you an email with the date that they scheduled you for, then there are links for you to confirm, reschedule or turn down the invite.

Yay! I've been pooled, again. I'm sitting in so many pools...looks like a year of trying to stay afloat. I hope I get pulled out of all of them. I interviewed here last year and was waitlisted, needless to say I did not get off that darn waitlist! It's a great school though, hope I get another shot! Here's to hoping this year'll be different :xf:

Small-pooled AND invite on the same day... Wow, they must really love you!! Congrats! At this rate, I'm sure they're all ready to hand you an acceptance as soon as they verify at the interview that you're not a psychopath.

I know you said your 2ndary was put on hold, did you submit the 2ndary on the first day possible or very shortly thereafter?

Ugh I submitted my secondary on 6/29, and was probably complete around 7/20 - wish i'd hear something, am still in the "reviewing" position

I know the process is draining. If any of you have any questions, please let me know. I'll be glad to answer of them.
