Okay guys... I just called and apparently there was a computer glitch (!!!). I don't know about everyone else, but they said that I was NOT rejected, and everyone whose file had been read was sent a rejection because of this glitch. I was told to check back in a few hours, and that the problem should be fixed by then. GL to everyone that all these rejections were just a result of the computer goof, not because of actual rejection!
You are right. I recently received the following via e-mail:
"
Greetings-
I am writing to alert you to the fact that our admissions system has been experiencing technical difficulties that is causing an incorrect message to be displayed when you login to the Online Applicant Center. The message currently states that your file is no longer under consideration and this is incorrect. We are working with AMCAS on this issue and the corrected status should return shortly. I apologize for any confusion or concern this may have caused.
Your status should read:
"Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months. Interviews are held on most Tuesdays and Thursdays between mid-September and mid-April. You will be notified via email if you have been selected to interview."
