I was marked complete on 8/24, and haven't heard a peep from them. No "further" status or anything, just:

Your M.D. file is now complete. The Admissions Committee will now do a comprehensive review of your application. Once the review is complete, your file will be prioritized, and interviews will be granted based on your priority score and the date your file was completed. Please do not call the Admissions Office requesting special dates.

Am I being rightfully impatient or is this normal?

I would call, they are really nice

Any either know or have a educated guess about when VCU generally sends out interview invites? I thought it was after 6pm (EST) on Sundays generally, but it seems like some people have gotten status updates during other days of the week.

Bump. Anyone know?

It's a possibility. Does it really matter though? Probably will just cause more anxiety. Just sit tight.
I have had emails from them just about any day of the week and yea does not really matter. they send emails after 6pm anyday your status changes

Status update...they have 'reservations.'

🙁

I wonder if its possible to call and give them an update? If they have reservations, maybe my updated list of activities can help with that.

If you have substantial activities to update on, maybe, but it seems a little early right now to send updates? It'd probably be best to call them to see if they accept additional info, too.

Status update to the "further status" (finally!)

Complete 8/31

Is Richmond International Airport the closest airport to VCU SOM? Thank you.

same boat as you. did you ever call to figure out if that was normal?

Does anyone know how long an interview reschedule might take at this point in the season?

does it make any sense to apply here with 26 MCAT and 3.6 GPA with 2 years research experience and great volunteer and LORs?
thanks

Probably no. Especially with a low MCAT. I believe their average is 30-31. Your GPA is also average for this school. Your only chance would be to apply early and be a Virginia resident. Good luck.

Anyone recently invited for an interview? Do you know what dates are available now? Hopefully it isn't booked through Dec like some people claim for Temple

I interviewed at VCU on 9/23 (this past Thurs) and I absolutely loved the school! Had a great M4 interviewer. Interview was very conversational and low-stress. The tour was great and we spent like 20 min in the clinical simulations lab which was beyond cool! I'm reeeeally hoping to get good news from the school once Oct. 15th rolls around.

Good luck to everyone who has interviews coming up. Don't be stressed out about it. The interviews are relaxed and you'll most likely end up enjoying your day as much as I did. 🙂

Did anyone mention during the day, what the avg GPA and MCAT scores for the MSI class that just started a month ago were?

Nah I haven't yet. I figured it would just annoy them and what happens happens. Just gotta be patient.

No one asked or mentioned it. I would imagine it would be pretty close to the numbers for the previous years (they're probably listed on the website but I'm a little too lazy to look right now 😛). It's very unlikely that there was a huge jump or huge drop between 2009 and 2010.

Thanks. I am not Virginia resident. I was thinking to take a chance and apply there. but if they would not even look at my application due to a low mcat score, it does not make much sense to apply there.

could someone post the link to the secondary?

I done goofed BIG time, and accidentally deleted the email containing my link. I already emailed them explaining but given my deadline is approaching VERY rapidly im in big big trouble

somebody help me!!!

Good luck with the secondary!

I say give it a shot. I graduated from MCV a few years ago and I personally know of 2 people who had lower MCAT scores than you do that got in (and people really don't talk much about MCAT scores in med school). I'm going to be honest, your chances of acceptance aren't all that high, but if you have done some interesting things, you may get a nod for an interview and then it's up to how you interview.

The MCAT averages tend to be right around a 29-30 so that means they have to let in a bunch of people below and above that.

I say go for it, I know someone who got in off the wait list 2 years ago with a 26. My stats are close to yours, i am OOS and I received an interview! don't lose hope!

Oh wise SDN'ers... I've had the interested status since 8/8. OOS but at a Virginia school with a 31Q and a 3.68 GPA (3.76 sGPA). Good ECs but no word since August. Should I get in touch with VCU and try to see what's up or would that be fruitless? What do you guys think?

Same here, it seems most people with interested status received invites 3 weeks - one month later. I'm nearing the 7-week mark. I think I will call tomorrow and ask if sending an update letter will help me get an interview. I seriously think VCU forgot about me 🙁

All the best guys.

This is not true. I received the interested and "May" interview status on 08/05, and received my invite on 09/19 and that's exactly six weeks. Don't let SDN get to you, while what you see here is helpful it definitely does not set the rule. If it helps, I'm international (Canadian), grad student, MCAT 32S and cgpa 3.73

Got the "may" status today, was complete on 9/22

my file still says incomplete even though it shows everything as complete. is this happening to anyone else?

I'm interviewing this week and will have a car. PM me if you need to be picked up from the airport, need a ride to campus, or just want to meet up for dinner

I say go for it! I have very similar stats except lower MCAT and higher gpa, and I received the "very interested" status a week or two ago. So why not try especially if you have something else that stands out.

Hmm, another "Would Like" Completed 8/24 - OOS wonder where this will go.

Interviewed there today. It was amazing! The school is great, cool facilities, nice people, good board studying program. My interviewer was very cool we discussed athletics for a long time! haha

Hope to be admitted! :luck::luck::luck::luck:

can someone who went to the VCU interview to share some insights of the process? how was the interview? the tour? what should we expect during the interview? any surprising questions? what to be aware of when visiting the school and the area?

if someone have the time to share what they think about VCU in detail, that would be great! My interview is coming up next week

The interview, tour, and day in general were amazing. Don't stress at all for the interview. It was a conversation and half the time was spent selling VCU as a school, which I appreciated. I got no grilling questions, just questions about my app to genuinely know more about me.

Make sure you visit the fan and Monument ave, those are really nice parts of Richmond I thought. Also Shockoe Bottom had some cool restaurants and shops. I was really impressed overall. Just have a good time.

I've had the "very interested" status for nearly a month. Starting to wonder if I've gotten "lost" in the shuffle...

Sorry if I missed it earlier in the thread (actually I'm not really that sorry), but what time does the interview day end? I have my interview scheduled for 10am. Can I leave after the tour ends at 2 (like the website says) or do I have to stay for some second interview between 230 and 330?

The second interview is random. If you are selected, then you stay, if not, you leave around 2pm.

Just got an interview invite, was put on hold (may status) 9/26, got the complete email 9/22
