Can a current student or someone who has previously interviewed please tell me a little about the curriculum. Are you tested frequently? What do you like, what don't you like? Thank you!

Any recent interview invites?

I was given the MAY status on 9/23....PLEASE GIVE ME AN INTERVIEW...

I'm from the area (I go to VCU undergrad). If you have lots and lots of money, go to the Jefferson Hotel (Its 5-star), but if you are like me, there are Holiday Inn's and Mariot's around with taxi services to take you to and fro

Hey guys, what's a hotel you recommend? Also how did you work out transportation from airport to hotel to vcu and vice versa? Thanks!

Hey, how come you're not taking advantage of the student host prog? I just had an interview elsewhere and stayed with a host and it was awesome. Got picked up from/dropped off at airport. Driven to interview and my host even gave me a tour...plus you can ask ANYthing you want! So I'm planning to stay with a host at VCU too. Just curious.

Ha nice. Yea I would, but my interview is around noontime and they have class in the morning or so I would assume they go. Also, I think it's relaxing just doing your own thing in your room. And I don't want to bother some of them. But yeah no doubt good choice on staying w/ a student host.

Hi (possible) future M1 students! I'm a 1st year pharmacy student in the dorms but moving into an apt next year and looking for potential roommates. Private message me if youre interested. I'm a guy so preferable other guys.

Also cross posted in the Dental forum but it seems dead over there.

'on hold' status. IS interviewed 12/8.
looks like they had an adcom meeting today, even on a national holiday

Withdrew from my interview invite today. Good luck all!

You have to report to the admissions office at 11 am for a talk with the Dean and the financial aid director. After which you have a tour and lunch with students at 12 pm. So interviews are held from 8 am to 11 am and start again at 2 pm. There are some students who do not go to class and some like me go to class but don't always make it to 8 am session😴. I do host students and sometimes will go to class late if their interview is later. It also depends on what the class schedule looks like. We don't get paid to host. We do it because we like to. So no bother at all.

Maybe? You'd think that stuff would be automated though, right? I looked up my email for the survey and it was sent about 2 weeks after my interview.

interesting.. i guess ill call vcu tomorrow and see whatsup

I really liked VCU when I visited. Since the 2/1 date is approaching, is it worth it to send an update/interest letter at this point in time? Or is it better to wait until 2/1 and send it if I don't get accepted this round?

Thanks!

I was under the impression that update/interest letters don't make a difference or influence the score they give you post interview. It might help in the case you get put on the waitlist though.

That's what they told me when I called. Won't affect your rank on their list.

Perfect! Thank you doremi & Dmannn for your responses. 😀 I'll hold off on the letter writing.

i interviewed the first week of November

i interviewed the first week of November

that seems so late! did you ask them why they haven't reviewed your file yet? i also interviewed the first week of november (11/8) but i got the interview survey email on the next day (11/9) and the "your file is complete" email 10 days later (11/18). but then again, i didn't get in on 12/15 so i don't think how fast they review your file determines the probability of you getting in. perhaps it's b/c you're OOS? i'm instate, btw.

I also interviewed around that time (11/9) and got the survey very soon afterwards as well as the complete status, but I'm OOS so I don't think it has to do with residency? I didn't get in on 12/15 either so here's to :xf: for Feb, 1st!

But jjwoo, I would try to find out why they haven't reviewed your file yet.

Most likely it is b/c jj's interviewer has been unavailable to attend the committee meetings. Unfortunately, this happens quite a bit and is just the luck of the draw.

Just withdrew from interview invite, which was on Feb 1 so a spot might have opened up. This was probably the most difficult thing I have had to do! Good luck to all applicants! :xf: 🙂

During the interview day, the dean mentioned that before being accepted your status might change to show you're on the offer list. Has anyone who's been accepted in the past had a status change post interview? Has anyone who interviewed on 1/13 had a status change? The dean mentioned it would have been about two weeks after the interview but I havent gotten anything.

everyone who has been accepted gets a status change post interview. soon after you interview, your status will change and you will find a survey. then, at some point after that (1 week for me), you receive this message:

The Admissions Committee has met to discuss your file. Your application is being placed on hold for action at a later date. We anticipate making offers October 16, December 15, February 1, and March 16.

You will receive no further communication from us concerning your hold status. The next status change will be to offer you a position in the class, to notify you that you have been placed on the alternate list in late-March, or to notify you that the Committee will no longer be considering your file.

We thank you for your interest in our school.

it's basically a hold message and the school will only contact you on the above dates if you have been accepted. after March 15, its off to the waitlist or you get rejected.

if you haven't heard anything, i'm sure they wouldn't mind if you gave them a call just to see what's up.

I think they said if you get rejected or waitlisted, they'll tell you pretty quick after the interview.

if your priority score is >3.5 then you get automatically rejected post interview, but you don't find out about the waitlist until after March 15.

^^^^welcome to richmond?

yea it generally takes about one or two weeks to get a status change indicating whether you are placed on hold or rejected (NO acceptances given except on certain dates). has your status changed since your interview? if not and it has been some time, you may want to give them a call.

👍

remember that the next acceptance date is Feb.1 so if you think you are eligible for this date, contact them ASAP so you have a chance to receive an offer. otherwise you have to wait until March 15.

not much longer, ladies and gents!

i'm not very optimistic about this round (since I didn't get in Dec. 15), but i'm obviously still hoping to get in.

plus, it didn't look like many SDNers got in on this date last year, so that just adds to my worries.

aww, keep your head up for the sake of the rest of us who are also waiting with you! i think we have more chance of getting in 2/1 than we do 12/15 since the 'standards' are lowered as the cycle continues, no? at least that's what my interviewer said to me since i didn't have stellar grades/mcat score but still liked me supposedly. so yeah, i didn't get in 12/15 either but that just makes me more excited about 2/1! :luck::luck::luck:

Richmond is not that bad, it would take effort to find yourself in that mess of stuff. You would be surprised at how great and safe Richmond is.

wow, guys...no activity in this thread on this *possibly, yet unlikely* special day.

:luck:

What makes today an unlikely day to get good news versus any of the other dates they make offers?
