I interviewed at penn and I am a Canadian/American Citizen and have done no school in the US.

So I'm not sure if thats the case
 
Long time lurker, but I just created an account for the sole purpose of subscribing to this thread.

Unlike many of you, I'm still waiting for an acceptance (still have interviews coming up....). Columbia's my top choice, so FINGERS CROSSED. Good luck to everyone!

All of their e-mails to me have been between 1:00-4:30 so we will see!!!! Have an exam in an hour though and can't stop thinking about this school!

It looks like he tried too hard to make it look young though... Maybe he's a Columbia spy!
 
Are we positive they are coming out today? Someone want to volunteer and call? I'm in class :/
 
I'm at work too and can't call. I'm watching my email like a hawk. Someone please please call so I don't have to press refresh on my gmail all day haha

Just called. They said decisions will be released via paper mail and email within the first week of March. No definitive date yet. I'm DYING.
 
I guess that rules out the decision coming out today. The e-mail part is reassuring though.

I can't wait any longer. I might lyse with anticipation. I still cannot believe I had the opportunity to interview here! So on a positive note, I feel very fortunate to be among those anxiously refreshing their inbox constantly. :luck:
 
This reminds me of when I was waiting to receive my MCAT scores.

Wait, what about medhopeful's no later than march 1st? I guess Columbia changed their mind. Going crazy!!!
 
Ok so I work at CUMC and walked down to the admissions office like the creeper I am. They are sending all of the envelopes down to the mailroom to be stamped and processed today, and I was told that the snail mail will go out tomorrow (I "jokingly" said they could save a stamp and just hand me mine, to no avail). I was also told that since I live in NYC I should "find out on Friday"....meaning I will find out when I get the snail mail....meaning email wft? I guess unless Dean Nicholas is the one sending out the acceptance emails we'll all just have to try and relax and wait for the mail? Bah

it's a reference to "extras."

i called the adcom office and they said that stuff would be going out next week. are they playing mind games?
 
I think there must be some serious miscommunication going on in the admissions office...
 
I called as well and they said "decisions will be sent out the first week of march by mail and email." this "first week in march" business is the key. Does that mean this week or next??
 
the mail is definitely going out tomorrow - I literally saw a guy from the mail room come and pick them up. when will the emails be sent out is the question.
 
argh! i hate you guys lol

I was doing just fine and dandy then I decided to take a gander at this thread for the first time in months. The possibility of an email being sent out today propelled me into a state of anxious neuroticism. Now with so many conflicting stories I don't even know what to believe anymore but I'm still flipping out :scared:
 
I'd be more than happy to write the emails for them lol. Well at least the acceptance ones!
 
Looks like I'll be spending spring break in front of the mailbox sitting in a beach chair.
While refreshing my e-mail on my iPhone.

friends, i'm very sorry about what probably feels like a terrible injustice (i mean this unironically).. at this point i can't tell you much, but everything i said initially is still true; in the mean time, get off this odious website and self-medicate with the poison of your choice (even if that means work.. or beach.. or whatever).. trust me this thread'll drive you nuts.
 
Slightly off topic, but I remember hearing something about how Columbia saves spots for those who are waitlisted and don't have other acceptances.

Does anyone know of anyone getting in this way/if there is any truth to this?

Don't rejections go out by email? Maybe that is all there is to the email bit... and the rest have to wait for snail mail. If so, looks like the wait could drag on past Monday, if the letters are sent tomorrow. Decisions have been made if everything is being sent out.... our fate has already been sealed, hopefully in a priority mail envelope! lol

I heard that's also true. But the thing is if you get an interview at Columbia, chances are that you'll get accepted somewhere if you apply broadly.

That's a good question. Don't schools begin to see every applicants acceptances beginning in April or something like that? So they might just know (someone else should confirm, though).

I say 'definitely' going to be a doctor is a stretch. They waitlist like 600 people (mmm or unicorn is this correct?). It just maybe gives you priority over other waitlisters. But I would imagine that most people on the waitlist have other acceptances. I hope I am accepted but right now, waitlist doesnt sound too bad either!😀

lol this seems like a good recipe for failure. Columbia might save some waitlist spots for those people, but I'm sure they don't guarantee that they'll take everyone who doesn't have other acceptances.

haha I only saw small but they were in the middle of moving them, so maybe the big ones went in first? 😛

geez I really hope we get emails tomorrow, I'm not sure how long I can handle being this wound up

Good advice! I never considered myself a neurotic person until I checked this thread haha :scared: I was really perfectly fine until I read about the possibility of an email being sent out today. Though it seems like I will at least find out by the weekend which is a lot sooner than I originally ever expected. Anyway, since I'm literally at home with nothing to do it's been tough keeping my mind distracted but I just started to chill out, relax, and watch some movies. Also hitting up some friends to hang out with. It'll happen when it happens.
