Not really, but my heart jumps every time I get a call now. This will probably continue all day... I'll be at the movies in a little bit too, so not really the best place to anticipate a phone call which sucks.

i have no idea, but i doubt senior faculty are being "mandated" to make calls today. but i suppose it's possible.. sorry, i just don't know and can't really find out.

This is getting intense! I actually received an email from my interviewer last week asking if I was still interested in the school to which I replied: YES!! but still no call......Did anyone else have that happen?

So far only 2 people have posted acceptances. If they were mandated to call, more people would have posted by now. 🙂

I didn't get any sort of e-mail. I would take it as a good sign though. This is too intense!

I feel like it would only make sense for them to call before we could possibly hear by mail. So do you guys think it's safe to assume we would hear before Saturday?

I think it could be the case that all e-mails go out at a certain time and interviewers are welcome to call before or after the e-mail goes out. This has been the case at other schools and also for other types of competitive grad schools...

It is entirely possible that some of us may not get a call at all and still get admitted or get calls long after learning about the acceptance. I was accepted to a school that customarily calls immediately after deciding and I never got a call but received an email. This happened more than once.......maybe people dont like talking to me on the phone

I broke down and called a bit ago. David answered the phone and told me that when/how we hear is dependent on 'a number of different factors." clear as mud. but he said we would definitely know our fate by the end of next week. I hope I dont have to wait the whole 8 days but if you think about it, its not that long (most of us have already waited several months).

Seems like there's some inconsistency in the messaging..didn't someone yesterday post that a lady in the admissions office told him/her that e-mails were going out by today?

End of next week? Torturous... more so because it could be any day next week versus Friday (or a set day) of next week...if y'all know what I mean!

Good point. Because acceptances may go out earlier. Whether it be snail mail or e-mail we have no idea.

I have gotten e-mails from Columbia between 4:00-5:00PM so I wouldn't totally rule it out. I highly doubt Columbia would give interviewers only one day to inform their interviewees of acceptance so I don't think it's likely we will get e-mailed, but not impossible. I don't know. Driving myself mad. They are my #1.

Yes. After he said that I said, 'so how you hear depends on the decision' to which he replied 'yes.' I wanted to get more specific and ask how rejected and waitlisted people would hear but I couldnt bring myself to do it. I was scared

Well someone mentioned earlier that they saw letters being sent to the mail dept yesterday. Which should mean that if you're accepted, priority mail envelopes are only a day or two away (I'd think by Monday?).

No decisions will be transmitted from the office to you. They probably don't even have that information easily accessed on file, so please do not overflow their phones and email address with requests for decisions 🙂

Agreed. 👍 At this point, I would say no news means no news, and not much else. I'd also say I'm not a huge fan of snail mail. I appreciate the sentiment and formality, but I would be perfectly happy to receive my news informally and in the most expedited manner possible!

Got the acceptance call about an hour ago. My interviewer said that the acceptance letters were sent out yesterday by overnight mail, so even if you didn't get a call today, you should know your status if you are accepted by tomorrow at the latest via snail mail.
