Did anyone who was accepted receive an email about establishing a UB Person Number? I would like to pay online, but I didn't get this email and am unsure whether I could just use my SSN instead.

:luck: to everyone on the waitlist and congrats to those who were accepted!!

To people who are accepted, I'm sure you're all waiting to hear from other schools still too, right? If I send in my deposit, does that mean I'm saying I absolutely will matriculate? I mean, I can't really make this decision yet. To people who were waitlisted, I'm sorry, I know this just makes me sound awful.

(Correct me if I'm wrong on this!) According to AMCAS/LCME guidelines, schools can collect a 100 dollar deposit to "hold your place" in the class. While this does express your intent to attend, you can hold places in as many schools as you would like up until May 15, 2012. If you get in to another school, you can either turn down Buffalo, or hold places at both schools (as many schools as you are interested in). After May 15th 2012, you can only hold a place at one school and must turn down all other schools to which you have been accepted... though you can stay on as many wait lists as you want. If you decide to forfeit your place before May 15 all (most?) schools will refund the 100 dollar deposit you made. If you decide to attend, that 100 dollars will be applied towards your first months tuition.

Does this help?

As far as I know, this applies to all LCME (US MD) schools.

I'm back and still confused. The email that we were sent, are we supposed to log-in and confirm the acceptance to hold our spot, or is that only when we decide to matriculate?

Yes, log in and confirm your spot as soon as possible. If it isn't working properly (UB recently switched over to a new system), call admissions tomorrow morning, and speak to Mr. Rosso. Congrats!

You do not need to decide where to matriculate until May 15th.

Ah, thank you! This sentence in the acceptance letter they sent me greatly confused me: It is our assumption that acceptance of this offer constitutes a commitment on your part to complete your medical education here after you matriculate and that you have carefully considered all factors in your personal and professional life that would affect this decision.

I'll probably call them tomorrow anyways to make sure I didn't screw anything up lol.

Right, so the commitment is sealed when you matriculate. If you show up on the first day of orientation week, you may not back out and attend another school.

Did you ever get the UB Person Number? I confirmed my acceptance with the Username/PIN that I was sent. I never got a UB Person Number though. I tried paying with my SSN, but it doesn't work. I'll give it a few hours to see if it just takes a while to go through the system. If you ended up getting the number, please let me know where I'm supposed to find it.

I actually found it after I paid my deposit, whoooopsie. I used my SSN. Anyways, you know that email they sent with log-in info? If you log-in on that site and go to "Status," it has your person number there.

I'm really hoping for an interview here. I interviewed last year but was waitlisted and later rejected. It's actually my top choice because of how much I liked the school and it fit my plans. I'm crossing my fingers for another chance.

accepted today via status change!

Hi guys,
I was wondering what makes this school stand out among the other med schools? And what is the grading scheme for m1 and m2?
Thanks,

Thanks,

the first question you have to answer for yourself. the grading is honors/highpass/pass/fail

thanks a lot, withdrew from interview, hope that opens a slot for someone here, gl!

Um, I confirmed my acceptance and paid my deposit a while ago, but I haven't committed to this school yet, so why did I get an email today saying that "Your University at Buffalo eBill is available online"? Anyone else get this?

It's been about 10 weeks now and I haven't heard anything post-secondary. Anyone in same situation? should I call Mr. Rosso and check?

yep, I'm with you. Complete in July, actually. Haven't heard a word. :(

Complete very early August. Same here. Actually a bit worried, since I'm pretty sure my status went from "under review" to "secondary application received." Does that mean I am on some sort of hold? :(

I got this too...did you ever end up figuring it out?

ii today.........complete 09/15.............I guess I am shuffling off to Buffalo

If you don't mind me asking...what were your stats? Complete 9/6 and still haven't heard back.

I talked to Mr. Rosso in admissions today and he told me that they don't really do anything based on time. I was complete in July and he told me they haven't even looked at my app yet, not because I suck or anything, just because they haven't gotten there yet. They don't screen anyone out with an automated system (based on MCAT score or GPA) post-secondary...time doesn't matter as much here as it does at other schools, I guess.

Good luck son, you might want to check the interview feedback for Buffalo. I didn't think that the unusual questions would come up but they did so you might want to give them a thought.

Thanks "Son". I noticed very interesting questions in interview feedback section for buffalo. I am going to assume you are Korean based on your handle? KamSaHapNeeDa was it?

waitlisted as well.....

I think this was mentioned previously in this thread but some of the current students said that most of their classmates got in off of the waitlist.

Yeah I know A LOT of people who go to UB who get in off the waitlist. Also, Mr. Rosso said at the interview that they get pretty significant movement.

Completed my secondary on Oct 10th. The status page still says secondary application received. Is anyone on the same boat as me? :(

completed mine late october. I had to email mr. rosso to find out why it wasn't complete. It turned out I was missing something and I sent it in and it was later changed to complete. Try shooting him an email. He is very responsive.

I have tons of respect for you reading last yr's thread. it def shows your dedication to UB, and that's the similar vibe i got from students i had a chance to meet (albiet very briefly, as i was first to interview).

do you have tons of respect for me reading this year's thread?

How are applications brought up for review here? I emailed Mr. Rosso about my application that I submitted in July and he said that my "application hasn't been brought to the committee, yet." Is there a method to the madness?
