^ man same here.. I'm not sure if they send out rejections or not, but the e-mail did say they review applications till March 31st and the last interview day is at the end of April. Their e-mail also said that application updates will not help you until post-interview 🙁.

HOWEVER, i am pretty sure they read the update letters pre-interview, or at least when going over your file for interview. I sent an update letter in november, and in my interview my interviewer asked about something that i mentioned in my update letter, that was not on my AMCAS. fyi! sneaky!!

yeah they're really thorough and have a bunch of people read through your app. it's a pretty nice system.

Status page reads: Non-accept. Good luck everyone still in the running

Found out I was accepted earlier this week, So excited! I just found the facebook group as well:

http://www.facebook.com/groups/336481696381205/

Congrats!

The facebook group for my class has actually remained extremely active all year, especially compared to the 2nd years, so maybe you guys will continue that trend.

Enjoy the time you have before med school starts!

I'm an out-of-state applicant, and I was wondering if it is ever possible to gain in-state residency status at Buffalo.

Yes, you would get the in-state tuition for years 2-4. I think this is true for all the SUNY schools. For the first year, the cost of attending would be similar to most private medical schools, but one year is still better than 4 years of high tuition.

Interview invite today for 4/3/12 😱

Definitely didn't expect anything this late in the game! Keep up the faith everyone 👍

damn that is short notice
good luck and make sure to look at interview feedback
i got some of the questions there that i wouldn't have expected
enjoy the weekend

Congrats! I was under the impression that today would be the last round of invites since they said they review until 3/31... but they interview through April 25 so maybe there is still a chance if they are only scheduling around the 3rd? Fingers crossed I guess haha

Hey guys, I got wait listed last week and was wondering if anyone knew how long it takes before they give you your position on the wait list. Thanks. (sorry if this is a repeat question)

You can call the admissions office right now to find out top/middle/bottom third. They don't give out the actual positions though.

To everyone who has still not gotten an interview or a rejection: I just got off the phone with admissions who said that their system was down so recent decisions have not been updated, and they are also a little bit behind with reviews and are hoping to finish by the end of this week at the latest.

I got waitlisted to Buffalo (middle third). Can anyone tell me what are my chances of getting off the waitlist? Thanks in advance.

invaderzim compiled a list of the previous years' waitlists from sdn threads:

Give it time, it's still early. My facebook group has 150 members, basically the whole class. A lot of us use it regularly too.

In May, there should be a housing weekend, where you can look for apartments, and meet other incoming students, and there are plenty of things to do. Orientation week is also pretty awesome in August, only thing is that it ends, and gross anatomy starts.

Just relax, and you'll get all the information you'll need as you need it. There's no shortage of activities in med school, and Buffalo is a perfectly fine place to have a good time.

Awesomeeee thanks

Do the upper third waitlist people usually get in before may 15th?

from past years, what % of people who got waitlisted bottom third end up getting in?

look up the threads, they have buffalo waitlist threads from previous years but that only includes people who got that post on sdn

anybody have a ballpark estimate based on the small sample size?

i would think that it'd be pretty hard to tell without knowing the size of even one waitlist bracket but from last year's wait list thread, a few people were taken off the lower third. that's of course only sdn people so a greater number of people could have been accepted.

do you think a letter of intent or letter of interest would help raise my waitlist status? or is the ranking already all set and this rank would not change regardless of what I do.

I called them today and was told I should be hearing back soon.

are you on the waitlist or just hearing back about it.

My understanding is that by around May 15th in previous years, they had reached the middle third of the waitlist. This is about 3 weeks away and we are no where near that (from what I see on this thread). Does anyone know if they are just moving waitlists later this year or what might be going on?

I put the $100 deposit down to hold my place, but due to acceptance elsewhere I would like to withdraw and give my spot to someone else. I know the deposit is refundable until May 15. I've looked on the myUB websites and I'm not sure how I would go about this or if I need to call or email the school. Does anyone know how to go about this? Thanks in advance!

You need to email the admissions adviser Mr. Rosso at [email protected] and tell him you'd like to withdraw your acceptance

two people in my class got in off of the lower third of the waitlist, so there is hope.

As usual, in the dark about UB finances..

1. no financial aid packages yet..

2. scholarship committee will not be meeting before may 15th....

So you cannot make a fiscal decision about coming here... lovely

I have never been more frustrated. I have been calling and have been redirected to the same people who have given me no answers about scholarships. Also, there are tuition waivers for economically disadvantaged students but apparently those are not sent out until late summer or the fall semester! Thanks a lot UB for making it really difficult for me to gauge basing my attendance off of better fit (different school but $$$$) vs price when you won't even tell me my price.

Hi guys, 2013 cycle applicant here. Just curious if anyone who knows would mind sharing the avg MCAT/GPA for students that matriculated at Buffalo in 2010 and or 2011. I am wondering if the data on the LizzyM spreadsheet (3.60/29 matriculant averages) is still relatively accurate. The reason that I ask is that the matriculant data on the Buffalo website seems very out of date, considering that they mention receiving ~2000 apps a year and they currently receive over 4000 per year. There's also the fact that Upstate's average MCAT according to the spreadsheet is almost 2.5 points higher than Buffalo's, which makes me doubt the reliability of the data. Anyway, a reputable SDN poster told me that sometimes interviewees are given recent matriculant data in their interview folders, so any help you guys can give me is appreciated. Congrats on your acceptances to those who have been accepted. Thanks.
