Thanks. I guess you get a chance to do things during a revisit that can't be done with a large group like second look. Do you get to choose when you go back for a revisit? I'd love to hear from those who experienced this, too.

Yes, I got an email giving me the option to schedule a revisit. You can coordinate a date with them based on available students' schedules.
 
So supposedly the ad com is meeting tomorrow... would we hear in the afternoon or the day after? Just want to know if I should be anxious or not!

I can absolutely answer more questions about this later, but I'll just quickly reply now because I need to get to the hospital!

You're basically right on the money - a revisit you set up on your own and typically you're the only applicant here. You go with a current student to class/CBI/lunch and get to sit in on lectures and get a feel for the true, day-to-day workings of the school. I think the revisit is extremely valuable if you are torn between a couple of schools, because the revisit shows you more accurately what it will actually be like to matriculate there (far more accurate than both Second Look and the interview day).

Second Look is also awesome and highly recommended - as you said, many planned activities and social events, plus they'll answer many of your questions and help to welcome you into the COM-Phoenix family. You'll get a ton of time to mingle with your future classmates and the current students. We usually have Q&A sessions with current students along with presentations by Fin Aid and others for your class specifically, plus catered social events and a big outing to a Diamondbacks game (for which the school reserves the more private area with sofas and tables and a bar). It is always a blast which is why I recommend it (and you get to meet your future classmates which helps stay in touch over the summer), but it doesn't really give you a feel of what it's like to be a student at the school.

Let me know if you have further questions. And no, the school won't help with your travel costs to my knowledge. I mean really, we're a rather new school in a state that doesn't place much value on education! 😉

As far as I know, acceptances should be going out today. At least, that's what I have marked on my calendar.
 
I am so nervous, UA-phx feels like home! I believe the last acceptance round went out around 1PM? Wishing everyone here good luck.
 
Does anyone know if they email you even if you don't get accepted (like Tucson)?

They don't always release at the same time...it's been different on different release dates. I know one time they released at 8:00 AM and on other occasions it has been later. I don't think there is necessarily a set time.

Would writing a letter of interest even help, considering I've worked in a lab towards a masters here? I assume they already know I am interested though...

Crickets for me as well...

I was constantly flipping back and forth between SDN and and my email but not much was happening on either front. I just want to know!!! 😕
 
I didn't hear anything either, but I'm sure they sent them out....they've been on the ball with every other date.

I didn't believe this either at first, but a few pages back we had a statistical discussion about this. It depends on your assumptions but there's maybe 1/3 to 1/10 chance that it could happen any given acceptance round.

awww well today was definitely a bummer! there are still a few more release dates left, still trying to be hopeful is all we can do!
 
maybe the adcom met today and is announcing tomorrow?

I believe there's another round of acceptances tomorrow...let's hope we see some SDNers celebrate this time around 🙂
 
There were no acceptances sent out last week. I talked to admissions and they did confirm acceptances would come out early this coming week.

wow that is interesting to know! kudos to calling and checking! maybe they will send out more names to make up for a lost day....hoping tomorrow is good :luck:
 
For everyone who's been accepted so far, would you join a Facebook group for our class if I made one? It'd be nice to start getting to know each other! And I'd just like to establish a place for our OOS classmates to find support from AZ residents (like myself) if they need it.
 
I'm confused. Today is a normal acceptance day. Did the admissions committee imply that no acceptances were given out 1/31 and that more acceptance (~24 i would assume) would be given out this week (not just today)?

I've been trying to call the addmissions office to confirm whether they're sending out a batch of acceptances today, but they're not answering the phone.

maybe that means they are busy discussing it?? which would make me think they haven't made any decisions and sent anything out yet today...or maybe they are at lunch haha
 
what time do they normally send out the acceptances? I always assumed 12-1 is the most likely hour. Is there any hope after 5?
 
I remember the releases going out at the end of the business day, 3, 4, 5pm at the latest, in the past. I don't think there's any hope after 5.

I just spoke with Erin from the admissions office--she said they're behind and it's looking like they won't be sending anything out until the end of the week.

D: So they missed 1/30 and are behind still? Hopefully they give out twice as many acceptances this week...

I know! I was too nervous to ask which day specifically. I guess we'll have to wait out the entire week.
