those of you who got secondaries already, were you verified in early June? Are they just going by order received?

I've heard they distribute secondaries in batches based on your verification date but I might be wrong!

OOS applicant here but no secondary received yet. Verified 6/1.

Does when we get our secondary also depend on when we selected the program? I chose Twin Cities late so could that be causing the hold-up?

They don't screen, you'll get one

Should I be worried that I am IS and haven't received a secondary? I was verified 7/1 and got the first email about selecting a campus but haven't heard anything since. I'm thinking about calling the admissions office on Monday...

I'm IS too and I haven't received it either and I was verified 6/20. I second the motion that you call tomorrow and report back.

I still haven't received mine either, and I'm in-state with good stats. I was going to call tomorrow morning, but after reading this thread I'm going to wait a few days.

Same here...I'm thinking I am going to call on Friday if I haven't heard anything at that point.

For those that are interested: I called yesterday about not having received a secondary and the woman I talked to said I should expect one within the next 1-2 weeks. (I got the email about selecting a campus on July 6th). It seems strange that it has taken them so long to get them sent compared to other schools that have a one day turn around between the primary and secondaries! Whatevs...

Received the email for the secondary today but when I click on the link it takes me to a page that says "The page you are looking for has either moved or no longer exists." 👎

Finally got the secondary yesterday and submitted :luck::luck::luck:

Same here. Just shot them a quick email about it. Hopefully they will fix the problem soon.

hooray finally got the secondary invite 🙂

I am having a problem on the "Requirements Form" page of the secondary application. When I click on "I Agree", nothing happens. Perhaps this has something to do with their earlier technical problems today... anyone else having this issue? I have used three different browsers at work and home so I don't think it has anything to do with my computer. This is unfortunately preventing me from finalizing and submitting my secondary!

i am a OOS and with no tie to MN at all. Do you guys think I have chance to get an interview with 29 and gpa 3.87ish? (I received the secondary btw) or should I just not bother?

Too be honest, nothing to lose by applying. Just 75 bucks and some grueling hours of essay writing, which you can just reuse other essays from other schools anyways. I have no ties to other states outside of CA and NY, but applied everywhere. Better than risking not getting in, right? 😎

Thank god I'm not the only one with no ties to MN applying here. What did you guys put for the question about what ties you have? I just said I have no ties.

Has anyone verified in early July still not received a secondary? I got the school selection email 06/20 and was verified 07/07 and still no news.

Hmm, you could call them, they don't screen...

I was just told by Duluth that I have a 'sub-standard' amount of volunteer hours... ummm BS, I have over 6000 hours... I don't think it's sub-standard in any real context... lame...

How did they tell you that?

---

Dilemma - can't decide if I should bother with the Duluth app. I'm OOS w/ no ties and although I have some interest in rural medicine, it's nothing certain and I have my options open. Is Duluth strictly for rural medicine?

----

One other question... did people get their secondary before all of their rec letters were submitted, so far I have only heard back from the Duluth campus, then again my AMCAS app hasn't been verified yet so that could also be the reason. At what point did you guys get the twin cities secondary?

If you do not have an interest in rural medicine strong enough to fake it well, you should not apply to Duluth, they will screen you out immediately. They told me that because I asked why I was rejected, and the woman said my GPA was a bit low (not the major factor because of my PB work) and that my 7 in PS on the MCAT was a major factor. Then she added that I didn't have as much clinical experience or volunteering as other candidates... I'm not sure who those people are, because their website states that 23% of candidates don't even have volunteer hours...

I was verified in late July and still there's nothing but radio silence. What's weird is, almost as soon as I submitted my AMCAS (June), they sent me the form where I got to pick between Twin Cities and Duluth.

Also, would "my fiance and his family are Minnesota residents" be a tie to the state they'd take seriously? (Fiance is slightly weightier than boyfriend, right?) Or should I rush the marriage to improve my chances? 😛

Yes, your GPA is high, and your MCAT is not too far below their average for admitted students.

@lockian, the fiance+family is a solid tie, use it don't stretch too much...

Does anyone know if Duluth has started sending out interview invites?

How difficult is it to get into Duluth as an OOS student (~3.9/35Q)? I live in Wisconsin, so granted it's not that far away, but with how heavily they're stressing ties to Minnesota in the secondary I'm wondering if it's worth trying for Duluth or if I should back out and just try for the TC campus.

The status page only shows the status of the secondary, that all the components are complete. Is there a different place to check the overall status of the application?

Ive been complete at duluth for like 7 weeks and still nothing...

On MDapplicants, it says that some people are getting rejected from this cycle already. I'll take no word over a rejection.

I was told by Duluth that we would hear about interviews sometime in late August.

To my knowledge each school accepts about 10% of its class from OOS. So, ~6 at UMD, and ~20 at TC... Depending on where in WI, maybe it is helpful maybe not (like if you were from Superior)...

To the other folks... Rejections are already out, so if you have heard nothing, it is better than something...

Seems OOS unfriendly.

Just got my secondary, after being verified end of July. This is obscene.... Oh well, time to get crackin'!
