Right there with you, partner. Lately minus the relative relaxation though...I have 1 week and 3 days till my 8 weeks are "used up"...not that after that my chances are zero, but certainly they continue to decline.

I'm also worried about this...guess all we can do is wait at this point, I still haven't heard of anyone accepted who interviewed with Dr. Roberts

Not to be mean or anything, but I was accepted last month after interviewing with Dr. Harold Roberts in September. Good luck with everything though.

I interviewed with Dr. Roberts too, but he's not an adcom. If you interviewed with Roberts your other interviewer must have been the adcom. I think thats what folks are going for. They other guy, or gal, doesn't even come to the committee meeting when they discuss you.

Congratulations on the acceptance Renaissance Man! I'm praying for that phone call this Monday.

I submitted on 10/24 and have not gotten an interview invite.

Has anyone gotten an invite recently? If so, when did you submit your secondary?

Hey, I was wondering if anyone [particularly IS] recently has gotten an interview invite and when they submitted their secondary...just trying to get an idea on the amount of time I have to sit on pins and needles hoping for an interview invite!!

I submitted my secondary (re-app) on October 16th. No word yet.

So no stories of ppl getting accepted past the 8 week line but not in march? well, that's kind of discouraging

You're the first then! I didn't really understand how Dr. Roberts wasn't an adcom though because my other interviewer was a substitute for someone on my interview day...has anyone gotten in who interviewed with Dr. Brice?

Your adcom member could have been replaced by another adcom member with no problem. The first time they look at your file is when they're getting ready to interview you (or possibly while they're interviewing you) so to have a switch like that does not exclude them from being the adcom member. Like I said in an earlier post, Dr. Roberts specifically told me that he was not on the committee so it's very unlikely he was it.

If you're referring to my post about last year's thread, I don't know if that is exactly right. My rambling is probably to blame if it is incorrect.

I remember reading one poster saying she was admitted after 4 months and I feel like saying that was in February of that cycle.

Definitely the slower the lower on the pile though, eh?

And the number of people posting on SDN is very small compared to the actual number of applicants too, FWIW, so that may skew things too.

hmm i guess that makes sense, thanks for the clarification!

Whether or not you should worry after 8 weeks should probably depend a bit on your app and when you interviewed. Your subcommittee has to select your file to be pushed toward acceptance and present it to your adcomm member to present to the rest of the adcomm. So, if the subcommittee wants you- don't you think they will be strategic of when to push you for acceptance? That lucky 29 MCAT kid may get in eventually but he's probably going to have to wait until he's not being presented side-by-side all night with 37's and 38's on October 17th (etc.). Of course it is more nuanced than that- but that is kind of the gist.

Summary: subcommittee is a big deal- if they don't choose to push your file the entire committee will never even see it. But, if they want you to be accepted- they may choose a time that is not within 8 weeks. Plus, UNC is slow in general.

I'm in the same boat - if you wouldn't mind letting me know when you hear something, that'd be great!! 🙂

has anyone sent in letters of intent and/or update letters? not sure what the process is exactly and if UNC is receptive to them

Im also still waiting for an interview.

Anybody who has gotten an interview what was your timeline? How long after you completed your secondary did it take to hear back.

Also any OOS applicants receive an interview invite yet?

There must be a backlog or something. I haven't heard of any interview invites recently. It definitely seems like reapplicants and OOS are having to wait a long time.

Pizza (Wo)Man, your point is well taken.

C'mon...good news for all of us tonight...:xf:Oh please oh please oh please...

I got the call about 2 minutes ago!!!! Good luck to all of you who are still waiting!

Congratulations Hokie! A well deserved acceptance! What day did you interview?

I interviewed on September 7th, and my adcom was Dr. Gilliland. He told me that this was his first meeting that he was able to attend, so don't lose hope if you interviewed early and haven't heard yet.

Huge congratulations, Hokie! And thank you for the encouragement too. And the fact that you interviewed before me gives me the slightest, tiniest lil bit of hope. Good work!

Congrats! I think I interviewed with you! I was the other one wearing a bowtie.

Did anyone here have Dr. Church as their ADCOM member?

Indeed! I was wearing a bowtie

I haven't settled on a school yet, I'm still waiting on some decisions, but I'm definitely leaning towards UNC.

Also, thanks everyone for the kind words, and good luck to you all!

Anyone know if they have to have your residency form (for IS) before they make an acceptance decision? I still haven't gotten mine in yet 😱

Congrats Hokie! I know of two others who got the call tonight too, but I'm not sure who they interviewed with or any specifics. I do know that both of them interviewed within the last two weeks though, so I guess it really is dependent on your interviewer and the meetings they are able to make. Good luck to the rest of us still waiting :xf:

got the call tonight (while i was pretty drunk lol)

interviewed early september

Ilikepi: hah, i just sent my forms in a day or so ago...i'm hoping they don't but curious about the answer.

another adcom member specific question: dr. fowler anyone?

For folks that interviewed recently and are sending their in state forms in. Don't be freaked out when you get a letter from the School of Medicine. Its much more likely that its your approval/denial letter for residency than it is a rejection.
I almost dropped a brick when I saw that envelope in my mailbox.

I wonder if anyone who interviewed with us on 9/20 has been accepted? Either way, it looks like they're still considering/reviewing people from earlier on so maybe we'll hear something soon!

AMCAS processed early Sept
Never got an email from UNC confirming they received my app
MCAT posted Mid September
Nothing from UNC until last week - 2ndary IS, non trad.
Turned in secondary in 2 days - got interview invite less than 48 hours later

Congrats! OOS here, submitted 2ndary in Sept. Still no news😴

So how does that work exactly, if he hasn't been to a meeting until now does he present more candidates than the other adcom's that have been to each meeting? Did he mention any other interesting info when he called you?

Or does anyone else know any additional information on how the adcom system works regarding which/when candidates are presented to the committee?

Thanks everyone! 🙂

I'm not really sure how it works. I gather that the individual adcoms at each meeting pick a few applicants who they want to push for acceptance at that particular meeting. I don't know if that means that they'll hold other applicants for later meetings or something else. As someone said before, I think it depends a lot on your subcommittee and your adcom liking you and actively trying to push you through.

All he really said was that he apologized for the long wait, that he hadn't been to a meeting before that, and that he pushed hard for my acceptance at that particular meeting.

Moral of the story: hope that your adcom likes you!

huzzah! i just got the call from bashford. I don't even mind paying the international call rate on my american cell 😛

Thanks for the information Hokie 🙂 Congrats on your acceptance!

Do they send out rejections if they haven't sent you a secondary or is it just silent?

I'm OOS, so I knew this was a long shot.

Primary verified two months ago today, 9/16. Still no contact whatsoever from UNC...

confirmed that Dr. Brice was in fact my adcom member...anyone else on here interview with her?

I got the call from my admissions committee member around noon yesterday! It was a pleasant surprise because I had hoped for (and didn't receive) a call on Monday evening.
Interviewed in late October.

Big congrats!! If you don't mind, who was your adcom and what were your brief applicant stats?
