I was literally just coveting my dad's iPad the other night and wishing I could afford one! woo-hoo!Just to let everyone know, y'all will be getting iPads if you decide to come here next year (for free, with keyboards)!
Interviewed early January...should I expect to hear back end of February? Also are most people this late waitlisted and not accepted?
recently received an email letting me know that i've been awarded a dean's merit scholarship. Was VERY happily surprised because I was under the impression that if they were planning on giving me any merit scholarships it would have happened awhile ago (I was accepted in the fall) and I had given up at this point. SUPER excited because Rochester is definitely one of my favorite schools! I just wanted to be sure to share this in case anyone was in the same boat (had given up on merit money at this point) and was considering withdrawing their app due to financial constraints...
Sorry I did not clarify earlier, I edited my post above. If you are seriously considering Rochester I would definitely go ahead and submit your FAFSA and needaccess just in case... I think I remember seeing somewhere (sorry so vague) that the average need-based grant that they award is around $20,000, which seems worth a shot to me. Please feel free to correct me if I am mistaken...
Interviewed 1/6!! Just got the phone call been ACCEPTED!! First official one!!
Not special stats - 3.7+GPA and 30+ MCAT but nothing crazy! Thought my interviewers liked me though!!
Waitlisted yesterday
Interviewed 1/6
3.9/37
Two solid interviews
(Current University of Rochester student)
Also, I just sent a quick reply to confirm a wait list spot. Formal letter of interest in a few weeks most likely.

=P I think you're my clone. We go to the same school and have the same stats and are both waitlisted.![]()
Exact same situation as you, just I interviewed alot earlier.
I got my acceptance call yesterday!! Totally freaked out!!! My first acceptance!!!! 🙂
My stats are 3.98 and 34. Interviewed 2/6!! 😀
Interviewed on 2/16 - I absolutely fell in love with the school. Hoping for the best! I freaked out when I got an email yesterday from Rochester...it was for interview feedback lol. I'm keeping my fingers crossed
When is second visit?
does anyone know about waitlist movement? I interviewed in early november and was waitlisted later in the month... I imagine this is not a school that has a huge number of students that withdraw in may
Does anyone know what day the committee usually meets and when they are meeting next?

Hey I have a question for some of the current Rochester med students... I was wondering if most first-years get off campus or on-campus student housing because I got the housing brochure and it says the lottery for on-campus housing is May 9th...
I would say most of my classmates live in non-student housing. One reason being it's not guaranteed (as shown by the need for a lottery system). But the bigger reason is that it's so easy and affordable to find something else like a house to rent.
I remember putting my name in the lottery just in case, but ended up living in the White Coat Area behind school. There are always TONS of options there.
Also to current students is it quite difficult to get on campus housing than as a first year?
thanks for the info! so the white coat area is not part of on-campus housing? also how much is rent for a typical shared house in that area?
It depends how many people go into the lottery. ALL Rochester grad students can enter the lottery, so it can be quite a few. I got a really high number in the lottery, so even if I did want to take student housing, I wouldn't have gotten it.
No. We don't really have "on-campus" housing... it is "student housing". These are places such as Goler House, University Apartments, and Whipple... They are owned by the University. The white coat area is a neighborhood full of houses... they are owned by individuals. When I lived in the white coat, I lived in a 3 bdrm 1.5 bath and it was $400 plus utilities for me. It seems that is about average. Probably more for houses with less bedrooms or houses that are split into separate apartments.
