People who have interviewed: what do you wish you had known before your interview? Did you experience any sense of not "fitting" with the school culture or expectations? What sort of interview questions were you asked that seemed to throw you?

Does anyone remember if they talked about the alternate list when we interviewed? Do they not look at it until the spring? Or is it one of those things where they evaluate people on the alternate list all through the interview season?

Ive never heard of a school letting people in off the waitlist until they've filled the class with actual acceptances...

I'd like to know this too. Last year they interviewed people pretty late in the season too, so I'm sure they can't have stopped sending out invites quite yet...😕

Based on reading the past year's thread and some comments by current students who posted in this year's thread, it seems like USC interviews candidates with high stats first but still extends interviews to mid-range applicants until February or so. There's still hope for those of us without interviews! 🙂

Isn't it ok news for us? We still haven't been rejected. I have been under review since July.

I know that Keck doesn't accept pre-interview updates, but I just sent them an email about an error on my AMCAS application (which I assumed was legit information that they would want, and not a "hi pay attention to me" update) and they just sent me a super mean email about how they don't accept updates. Goodbye my chance at USC.

I'm going to be in the USC area from 12/24-12/29. Would it be worth it to send an in-the-area email for those dates, or is it likely that they aren't conducting interviews at around that time (the holidays) anyway?

I think they're closed then. Still, I tried something like this earlier and they said that's great and wished me a nice stay in LA...and that they don't take updates, haha.

I just dont get how people are asking this question when just a few posts pack, like 10 people said they were rejected pre interview. Cmon guys, read before you post.

did you interview this past friday (november 4) at usc? i also had a really stressful faculty interview, which took me by surprise because the dean and other students have said that the interviews were really informal and relaxed. it also messed me up for the student interview afterwards 🙁

When I spoke with admissions recently they told me the alternate list is unranked as of now, but that at the very end of the season (May 15 or something) they look at everyone on the alternate list again and make admissions decisions...so I assume that they do have some way of ranking us then (I was confused about the unranked thing)
