Wow - I was accepted! Honored and very excited. My interview was so rough, I was certain the news would be bad - so this is a very pleasant surprise.
Here we go: time to become a physician. 😎
Congrats on all the new acceptances, guys! Remember, if you have any questions about the school, feel free to PM me and ask.accepted via email today too! congrats signifier! i think we had the same tough interviewer. guess it turned out all right!

Good luck to those of you still waiting to hear from Keck! I got my invite in February last year, so don't give up hope yet!![]()
Thanks! I need all the encouragement I can get...
Just got an interview last week!! Super excited since its such a long shot for me. One question, I haven't fulfilled the Molecular/Cell Bio requirement? You think they accept community college credits? The webpage says anything from an accredited College or University, but does that necessarily exclude community colleges? I just really can't afford to take the class at my alma mater 🙁 Anyone have any insight?
Have you taken Genetics?

I'm pretty sure you can sub in genetics for that requirement. You just have to take the course sometime before MS1 starts in August, so a few kids in my class just took a summer session class once they were sure they were coming to Keck. No promises, but I believe CC credit works for the requirement. The admissions office is more receptive to communication once you've gotten an invite, so you may want to contact them directly.Have you taken Genetics?

So I'm new to this thread ( as an OOS applicant with average stats and zero ties to the state of California I figured getting into this school was a pipe dream for me, until I got an II), and just wanted to know more about the interview experience here.
This will be my first closed interview, so I'm not entirely sure what to expect. I've seen a lot of people here post about them being more conversational and personality based. For people who already interviewed, did you feel like you were asked more questions pertaining to medicine or to non-medical attributes? Did you feel like there was a huge difference between what the faculty member was asking you versus the med student?
Btw, did any of you who have already interviewed talk about things you put on your Secondary app? I figured with the questions having been so unique I'd really enjoying going deeper into them during the interview, but at the same time I don't want to seem repetitive when they finish reviewing my app.
Also, is USC well-receptive to post interview updates? I just didn't want to make myself seem too obsessive but I definitely want them to know I'm eager to go here.
I know I am over-analyzing a lot of this but I would really appreciate any feedback! Thanks!
P.S. my interview is on Valentines Day. Should I get my interviewers roses or chocolate? haha.
Congrats! Did you just get one today? I ask because I managed to get an invite elsewhere today...and I thought admissions offices weren't busy offering invites these last couple of weeks.
Congrats on the II! Does anyone know if Keck is receptive to pre-interview letters of interest or updates? I've been complete since August and I just wanted to let them know I'm still really interested. I called the admissions office a while ago and they said they generally don't accept letters pre-interview, but some past med students (not specifically from USC) have been telling me to send one in anyway. Any thoughts?
You can go to any school you want to if you're willing to take out loans. Do your FAFSA and see how much you can qualify for in Stafford loans. Despite your "rich" parents, you'll probably still qualify for a lot... and then you can take out Grad Plus loans on top of that. Remember, filling out a FAFSA doesn't obligate you to take out a penny in loans, so just go ahead and do it. IIRC, more scholarships are available at Keck after you prove yourself in MS1.Has anyone gotten a merit scholarship yet? If you are a current student, have you heard of someone getting accepted and then getting a merit scholarship months later? I'm in, but basically cannot go for financial reasons. Need-based assistance is of no use because my parents are rich but making it blatantly clear they are not paying a dime.
