same: "Your file has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee. We will be contacting you shortly regarding the status of your application." ahhh just tell us already!

Hi, I just wanted to check. For the people's whose status changed are you IS or OOS.. I'm OOS and interviewed in early November, and nothing yet

Also OOS, December. Maybe they're meeting today too?

Yay! Got an interview invite today... strangely, I did not receive an e-mail but it was up when I checked the online portal. I'm also having trouble accessing the "schedule" -- anyone else receive an invite? I'm hoping this is not a glitch.

Same status change here. OOS, interviewed mid December. Does anyone know if they've accepted any OOSers yet? I feel like all I've seen from OOS was waitlistings.

IS applicant - Interviewed in early November and still have the post-interview status.

Hopefully that will change soon...:xf:

per my earlier post above, which got pilloried by the peanut gallery...

per SDN interview feedback--> UVM tends to place OOS applicants who interview immediately (seemingly automatically) on their WL, which strikes some as odd/offputting since they matriculate 75% OOS...

There are some OOSers that were accepted right off the bat a couple of months back. I wasn't one of them.
The waiting continues 😴. Good luck!

congrats! if you don't mind sharing... when were you pooled?

Unfortunately, I don't remember... since at least October, if not earlier. I received my secondary mid-July and sent it back right away.

I'm OOS and was accepted almost immediately. 🙂 I checked my status page in the morning when I saw SDNers saying there were changes, and it said I was WL (no email though). Literally 4 minutes later I got an email saying I was accepted, and when I checked the status it had changed to accepted. I am one of the lucky ones, I guess! There are still lots of slots open though, so don't give up hope. And from what I've heard... DEFINITELY send letters of interest. They love love love letters of interest. Good luck!!!!

hi hoosier,

i'm curious are you speaking about being accepted today, or was this earlier in the cycle? in any case, congrats on the acceptance!

It becomes a little easier to understand once you realize that the final OOS acceptance rate is ~30%. The committee has many well-qualified applicants and can afford to be picky. Many WL acceptances don't happen until after the New Year, as it is a real priority here to have students for whom UVM is their first choice. Hence the importance of demonstrating continued interest.

I know people have sent LOI and post-interview updates, but do they take pre-interview updates? And how do we send them (guessing by email)? Thanks. 🙂

I'm wondering the same thing. Has a pre-interview letter of interest resulted in IIs for other SDNers? I have been pooled for a few months now.

Yesterday I went from "6-8 weeks" status to "post-review" status. Today it was changed to waitlist (in-state).

Officially "reviewed" this am, wait-listed at 10:09 pm (and I'd been checking before too) - random time, is it a computer-controlled system that does this (obviously there's not someone working right now)?

Why are there such discrepancies in the time from waitlist to acceptance? 4 mins, 1 hr, 5 hrs to months+ ?

YES! I wrote in a letter of interest and literally two days later, got an interview invite 🙂 i'm waitlisted now and the wait continues to torture me...ugh.

Status just changed (a job that entails working at a computer all day means obsessive refreshing). "We are pleased to inform you that your name has been placed on the Out-of-Area waitlist of qualified/alternate candidates." Much better than a rejection, and the stories from people being accepted from the waitlist quickly give me hope! I'll definitely be sending a letter of interest.

for the record, does anyone get rejected post-interview?

Haha, I was wondering that myself. Though I probably wouldn't post about it on the internet if I had been. It hurts enough just to get rejected, I don't need to tell people about it.

Seems like everyone got WL. This is sad 🙁

II for 1/26 (complete 10/4), anyone interviewing also want to meet up before or after and ski sugarbush? its an hr away

good point =)

From what I've heard they have been rejecting more people after interviews since so many people are matriculating.

Does anyone else have a wait-list status with last years dates? I was put on the in-state wait-list status this morning, but the dates are from last year. "We interview until April 2011.." etc.

Probably a glitch, just wondering...

No one is in the office at that hour, but the person responsible for updating the system on the committee's decisions from this week may well be putting those decisions into the system from home, in the evening.

As for the WL-> acceptance timeline, I don't know. The admissions staff here is, from top to bottom, absolutely top-notch and thinking of applicants all the time, so I think if anything it's just an attempt to get results out as quickly as possible.

trust me, if admissions knows you have no chance of being accepted after the committee reviews you, they are doing you a favor by rejecting you earlier on in the cycle as opposed to leaving you hanging into the summer.

Yeah, mine says April 2011 and August 2011 as well. I'm sure they just used the same letter as last year and forgot to change to 2012.

Just got the email! I'm accepted! (~3 hours after being waitlisted)

That's awesome, congrats!

Did you send a letter of interest in that 3 hour window? That would be impressive...

Haha, um, actually I did. *embarrassed* But I don't know if they even saw it before they decided to admit me, since I just sent it in around 11.

Wow! Congrats! Mind sharing your stats?

OOS (but from Maine, so I've got the whole rural NE connection), 3.98 GPA, 35R MCAT, lots of research experience, not much clinical experience, decent amount of leadership. I'm also interested in primary care, which they seem to look favorably on.

Accepted outright OOS! First Acceptance! I interviewed early November, and have a strong rural background.

what.. it sounds like the WL was a mistake and they meant to accept you.. just sent the wrong email

Congrats!!! I had seen earlier in the year that they accepted people a few hours after waitlisting but didn't know they'd do it again!

I'm curious about the letter you sent. Was it a letter of intent in that you'd go if you were admitted. Or was it an update? Sorry that question is really specific, you can PM me the answer if you feel more comfortable?
