I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice:

I am an OOS candidate with a 26M MCAT and 3.83 GPA with honors. I also have strong EAs and LORs. My secondary was completed in late October, and since November my application status has said "your file is under preliminary review." Since applying, I continuously read more and more about UVM and see that it would be a great fit for me. I was heavily involved with Special Olympics, and I worked hard to improve the lives of those medically underserved through various medical programs. Do you think I should call the Admissions Board to see if my application has been looked at? Would it be helpful to send a letter of interest, and to whom? Thank you in advance for your advice.

Uvm seems to be pretty receptive to pre-interview letters of interest, do it may not be a bad idea to send one.

I was given an interview invitation but turned it down on Friday. Mine was scheduled for 2/28, in case ppl are wondering what interview dates were being given.

Good luck to those still waiting!

I think you should definitely do both. Call and express your interest in attending UVM in addition to writing a letter of interest. Both helped me tremendously. Good luck! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I was just accepted to UVM last week.

Try not to call on Tuesdays or Thursdays as those are the days when the entire admissions office is interviewing students. This goes all the way through April. Anytime I've called on Mon, Wed or Friday, someone has answered. On their website, it shows different numbers for different people you can speak with. I usually speak with Shona, Carrie or Mary Keefe.

Thanks! 🙂 I hope the same goes for you as well!

Do we have a second visit date yet? Was trying to coordinate some stuff and was hoping we had a date. Thanks guys!

Rejected pre-interview today. I was in the pool but I guess that wasn't enough! Oh well.

I was so impressed by this school on interview day and can definitely see myself being at UVM for four years.

My interviewer was also super pleasant and nice. 🙂 Really made the interview day end on a good note.

I really hope I don't get rejected. 🙁

Does anyone know if UVM is still sending out invites? On the status page it says they interview until mid-April, but it has been quiet on this thread...

invites should still be going out in March, if past years are any guide.

how soon after the committee meets do decisions usually come out?

I got accepted into the NIH summer internship program last night. Basically I get to work on a project for about 8 weeks under a mentor and make a poster presentation at the end of summer. Is this worthy of an update for this school? Especially since it's in the future? I'm definitely will be participating in the internship.
I think it is definitely worth an update 🙂 I don't think UVM ever looks down on too many updates. Usually, decisions come out a couple of days after the committee meets. If they are good, sometimes they have come out the next day 🙂

Do you know when and how often the committee meets?

Well, in that case, it's probably not over until mid-March for those of us who are hoping for interviews... right? 😉

:scared:

I was about to write a great update letter, and I logged in and saw that I was rejected ha ha glad I checked before I wrote it. Application complete 10/3, small pooled 11/18. 3.8, 36O, OOS

Congratulations on your many acceptances! Any idea of where you might choose to matriculate?

Just invited for a March 27 interview...except I never got an email about it...I just happened to check my status to see if I was rejected...

I'm betting you get an email tomorrow. The status page sometimes updates before you get the email.

Could any UVM med student give any suggestions on housing? I've been looking at off-campus and on-campus, but nothing seems to catch my eye as a great option. I have a car and wouldn't mind driving if its not too far, but would like central ac.

PM me with more details. Do you want to live alone? Do you want a roommate? What's your price range? How much space do you need? I'm happy to help!

Just out of curiosity for current students... is there any snow on the ground right now?

It has not snowed where I live all year. And I'm having a major sad.

There was a bit of a dusting in my driveway this morning and some places where the snow plow piled up snow. But, looking out at campus right now I can't see any snow.
