Hello all!

I previously had option 3 of the status updates (E-mailed in July), and I was offered an interview this past August. So the great news is that for those of you who received options 2 or 3 as status updates, I definitely would not give up hope! 🙂

When did you receive option three update in July? I only ask because I received the "may" status July 22, and have not heard a peep . . .

After researching old E-mails, I think it was July 13th that I saw my status listed as option 3. But I still would not lose hope. This is still very early yet in the cycle. In fact, I myself was extremely surprised to have gotten an early invite. Especially for in-state I would not have classified myself as cream of the crop... so keep your hopes up and your fingers crossed! 🙂 👍

Interview Invite!!!!! My first one! Super stoked and excited, would love to attend VCU... I received further status only a few days ago 8/25, was complete 8/20, submitted 8/18.

Nontraditional applicant, in-state, 3.25 gpa (top 10 undergrad), 3.6 grad gpa (non-post bacc), 39Q MCAT

For those of you who got further status, there is hope yet. 🙂

Unfortunately no it doesn't. MCV screens after the primary app, after the secondary app and after the interview. If you have decent scores you probably will make the cut

I don't believe so. But they do screen, so if you got an application, they may at least be somewhat interested in you.

Which I assume means 60 percent of those receiving secondaries.

my friend got an II today. He got the MAY status on Aug 10. I on the other hand has the MAY status Aug 4 and have not heard anything! Im freaking out WTF!!!

got this status today:

The committee's file review indicates that they wish to consider your file over the next several weeks before making a decision about interview. Since they have some reservations about granting an interview, your file will be reviewed again by a small sub-committee before making a final decision. Please continue to check this site to learn when further action has been taken.

I know its #4 on the priority chart, but has anyone who has received this status gotten an interview invite or heard anything favorable since? I really like VCU, but fear this is pretty much a "we'll keep you around just in case" status.

Any current students have any tips on the interview? Seems like it is pretty low key, but they ask a lot of ethical questions? How much weight is on the interview? I ask because of how they do the priority score etc. Thanks to anyone with any insight on this! I'm starting to get anxious/excited about it!

what do you mean "there is hope yet"? You got a 39 MCAT score. They'd have to be out of their mind to reject you, especially instate.

I think they mean that with regards to the statuses rather than their particular MCAT score

They do. I wouldn't bother with one so soon though, unless you have something really great that wasn't on your primary or secondary.

to sublm: i don't know anything about whether it's too late... haha. 🙁 i feel like it shouldn't be, esp since vcu screens, so the rate limiting step woud've been when they decided to send you the secondary. i think if you submit it soon/fast (like within the week or so) you should be more than okay. but considering i don't even have an invite yet... you should probably wait to hear advice from other people haha 🙂

I was complete 8/2, but the only update I have received was on 8/8: "Your file is complete, and has been forwarded to the Admissions Committee for further decision." Nothing since then. Has anybody else experienced a similar gap?

Yes, if you have an early interview you may leave after the tour.
