Received the "May" status update today... (10/25)

I was complete aug 29th. Is it a little late in the game to be receiving this update? I know it's favorable to receive it early on, but it's a little later in the cycle and I'm wondering if anyone knows if the 1 month timeline still holds up here for Interview Invites.

I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but does anyone know if VCU is open to "in the area" email? I would love to interview here!

I don't think they are. If I remember correctly it said specifically somewhere on their website or status page not to send them. Can anyone confirm?
 
Still waiting on a status...was complete 9/20 🙁 Is this normal?

From previous posts, it seems like it could take a while. If you are anxious though, you could call and ask. They are very nice!

Speak of the devil...just got May status. I'm OOS, how has this been turning out for people?

OOSers usually have pretty good shot at an interview after receiving this status. There is a spreadsheet on the previous page that shows you how many have received interviewes with MAY and FURTHER statuses. Good luck, I hope you get one! :luck:
 
So I've been complete since 8/27 and have yet to receive a status update. I called a couple days ago to ask about this and all they told me was that my file was under review. Anyone in a similar situation?

+1. OOS MAY status 8/4 and got the same response after recently calling. sighhhh

+3 I've been complete since 8/25 without being given a priority score. I assume we should hear our status (May, further, etc...) soon. Hopefully before the next batch of acceptances, but then again adcoms are always full of surprises
 
Just wondering has anyone received their student number and email after paying the 100$ fee? It says it may take up to 5 business days to arrive but I paid two monday nights ago and still haven't heard anything. It's been like 9 business days so far..

I could be wrong, but I think they mean the actual enrollment fee, not the seat deposit. I don't have mine either. Not sure though...
 
What's the difference between MAY and further decision?

I just received an email about checking application status, which says "further decision" because the Committee is waiting for MCAT and new grades, but I don't have any new MCAT score (I already updated this through AMCAS) nor grades (I just started Fall quarter this year).

Has this happened to anyone? I"m so worried since VCU is my top OOS choice school 😕

Call them up on Monday - their staff is amazingly kind. I waited on them for 2 months and emailed them a few times, but they fixed my issue immediately on on the phone.

thanks ThePedro. I just emailed them to notify I have no new MCAT nor grades and I had already updated this information in the AMCAS. I was afraid it'd slow down the review process so I emailed immediately 😀

EDIT: I MEANT TO THANK NORTH12..LOL. I QUOTED THE WRONG PERSON

Unfortunately, the committee indicates interest in far more candidates than we are able to interview. Since we are dependent on the Committee member's schedules for interview spaces, we are unable to predict when or if we will be able to schedule you this year. Please continue to check this site to learn when further action has been taken."

Can anyone explain what this means? Am I small pooled?
 
yep u're now in a waiting queuqe and if ur oos...u could be in for a very long haul
 
I also have had the MAY status since mid August and have yet to hear anything else. I am OOS. Just wanted to share for the others who are waiting.
 
I was stuck on the may status for over two months and got invited to an interview recently. OOS.

Hey guys,

I was complete like weeks ago and then received the further status. But today, for some reason I got a status email, I checked and it says that you are now complete? What just happened?

Anyone else have this problem?

Same thing happened to me too. In previous posts, this happened to several people. I don't understand why though 🙂
 
Guys, I was looking at the student hosts but they don't have emails. I'm abroad so calling isn't an easy option. Suggestions?

Unfortunately, you'll have to call. They only had hosts put phone numbers on there. There may be some hosts who listed their emails as well, so make sure to check the descriptions. Lastly, please be nice to your hosts, especially if they're hosting you during exam week. 🙂

Yes. Look them up in the VCU online directory for their e-mail.

No problem. It's what I did because I'm not a fan of making phone calls for this sort of thing and e-mails are also less disruptive for them 🙂
 
For anyone interested, I am still sitting with the MAY status since AUG 4. I also sent an in the area email and they said something like: we will accommodate you if you are granted an interview. I sent a BUNCH of in the area emails to east coast schools when i was coming to NY for an interview, only vermont really worked out.

I've been "MAY" status forever, maybe 2.5 months, I guess I'm going to be one of those who get the status but no interview :/
 
Last year, I got the "reservations" status - I emailed to ask them what reservations they had and was told I had a lack of activities that would help "develop communication skills." I responded that I did theater, improv, then model congress, worked as a private and athletic tutor and worked as a medical assistant... all in my AMCAS app. I was then granted an interview (but then rejected). This year, I got rejected pre-interview after getting the same status. I emailed several people several times before and after about the "reservations" and got NO RESPONSE or feedback.

38R, 3.6 GPA, IS, 2 years of clinical employment and volunteer experience, research, w/e, you name it. At least this year I got in somewhere else, but jeez! What's going on!? It's like they have something against me!
 
How long were your essays for the supplemental?

It says 500-600 words approximately; but 6,000 characters. Which one did you follow?
