The joys of still being able to use Wikipedia 🙄
quite a research there lol
May is the fifth month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian Calendars and one of seven months with the length of 31 days.
May is a month of autumn in the Southern Hemisphere and spring in the Northern Hemisphere. Therefore May in the Southern Hemisphere is the seasonal equivalent of November in the Northern Hemisphere and vice versa.
No other month begins or ends on the same day of the week as May in any year.
The month May was named for the Greek goddess Maia, who was identified with the Roman era goddess of fertility, Bona Dea, whose festival was held in May. Conversely, the Roman poet Ovid provides a second etymology, in which he says that the month of May is named for the maiores, Latin for "elders," and that the following month (June) is named for the iuniores, or "young people" (Fasti VI.88).
oy vey i can't really remember BUT from what i recall...
the entering class in 2012 (our class) will have new curriculum starting our second year. whereas the entering class in 2013 (next one) will be the first year with full on new curriculum.
Great! That is more congruent with what I thought I heard.
IMO, (at least for my learning styles and preferences) the old curriculum is better... Very little PBL in comparison to what's on the horizon for class of 2017 -- at least as the website insinuates.
Plus we will already have the benefit of P/F grading (granted it's ranked, but at least now I can try to make myself feel better at night reciting "P=MD").

Does class rank appear on the dean's letter (as students apply for residency)?
Does anyone remember what they said about your status changing sometime after the interview (I think they actually said one to two weeks since that's how quickly they require their interviewers to come to the meetings) before decision date? I interviewed on January 3rd and my status only *just* changed today and all it changed to was the "please complete our survey" thing... I can't quite remember what they said it would change to so maybe that was it but I really don't think so.
Have other people had similar experiences? I LOVED VCU, it was my favorite interview experience by far, and I'm dying to hear from them Feb 1st but I feel like it's unlikely if I still haven't had that status change.
Hey all, I have a question and am wondering what you all think. I have been accepted to Virginia Commonwealth, New York Medical College, and Loma Linda University. If you had to choose where to go, where would it be and why? I appreciate your input.
Thanks so much for the insight, I'll just assume I'm waiting til March then and it'll be a nice surprise if I hear tomorrow. When I interviewed back in december, I received the survey the day after my interview. The next time I heard from them was exactly a month later telling me the hold status. During my interview they mentioned that it would only take a week for the update, so I would not be worried if I were you.
My student host for VCU told me she had a similar time line as you, and she missed out on the feb 1 date, but she was offered a spot on the next date which is sometime in March.
best of luck with the wait, it seems to be the toughest part of this process!
So...
What happens if your file has been reviewed and you dont get in? Another "hold" status, or no update at all?
You would wait until the next acceptance date, which is March 15th, I believe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
The status page actually says 3/16, but yeah, I believe that's correct.
Does VCU eventually tell you where you are on the waitlist?

Yup, that's how I understand it. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think they only update us this evening if we're actually accepted, no waitlist decisions are made at this time (or at least not released), right? So the folks that dont get in today will just have the same status page as before, no email no nothing, right?
Sorry for, i just dont want to be sitting around forever waiting for an update if im not one of the lucky 70.
haha i'm watching to see who might join my class ^_^
nope, refreshing like hell though
yea i thought the email would be to check your page for a status change? They usually send you an email, but i guess you can check the page if you want to
