It was by Email, but I also checked my status and it said the same thing!

I haven't heard back from admissions yet, but I have interviewed.
There are three 20 minute 1-on-1 interviews. The interviews are closedthey don't have any of your relevant AMCAS information (GPA, MCAT, ECs, etc.). The only thing they have seen are your AMCAS personal statement and the Wake secondary essays. I wasn't really expecting this, so it through me off a bit.
They mainly want to get to know you, so just be yourself. Not too many ethical questions, but there was one interviewer who liked them.

I'm interviewing here next Monday and was planning to drive to Winston-Salem from Durham that morning. I was hoping a kind soul would be willing to let me spend the night at their place on Sunday evening so I won't have to worry about being late >_> (preferably a current student so I could talk to you about the school =D). Thanks in advance!
Any possible takers?
...
thank you SDN for posting my response 10 hours after I wrote it!

Waitlisted... A bit frustrating. Does everyone who is interviewed get accepted or waitlisted, or do they do rejections as well?
haven't heard of an acceptance since early december, seems like there has been a lot of people waitlisted post-interview lately.. hopefully we'll see some movement off the WL before May but who knows
does anyone know if theres a Facebook group up for the class of 2016?
Check out post #953 on this page. It has the link. 🙂

Checked my status and saw it changed to "Your application is complete. You are invited to call and set up an interview with us at your convenience."!!!!
Sent a Letter of Interest last week, guess it really works!!
How long was your letter of interest? I sent an update letter of sorts, with a small paragraph (3-4 sentences) on why I am still interested in WF.
Congrats on your interview invite.

I have seen a few rejections on this forum, but I don't think it's very common like at many other schools.

Congrats on your interview invite.
Mine was probably 350-400 words and it was all about why I wanted to apply and attend Wake
Edit: Just scheduled my Interview. The days still available are March 6-9

I just talked to someone at admissions. She said the interview slots are full. But if something opens, you can still get an invite. (As long as you haven't been rejected obviously). Good luck! And to all those with invites, please drop them, so I can interview 🙂

Boo.
Thanks for the info.
Hey everyone, I know that it is a bit late for this to help anyone this year, but when this thread is used for students next year it could be helpful. Here is my experiences with Wake Forest's interview day. Good luck to everyone on here!

Alternate list. Bummer.
Alternate list. Bummer.
+1, I thought my interview there was my best one and that I had a pretty solid shot of an acceptance too :-\
For those who are waitlisted, are letters of interest at this point directed to Dr. Wells?

Been lurking here for a while. I applied in June, was interviewed in September, Alternate list in October. I will already have a PhD when I come in and I got into some other schools, but Wake was my favorite when I interviewed (it seemed like a good fit for someone who wants to do academic medicine and I thought we connected really well). I also have some personal reasons for preferring Wake.
I have sent a letter of interest every six weeks so they don't feel like I'm bugging them, and I've been almost neurotically checking the website (and this one) to figure out when this wait list is moving! Here's to hoping that many of us get good news soon.

Can anyone comment on how Wake helps its students prepare for the USMLE Step 1? I know that you take it in March and then 3rd year starts in April.
All I know is what I heard from the second-years who ate with us on interview day. They said that the curriculum is not geared toward prepping you for Step 1. Therefore, Wake's board scores for Step 1 are fairly average. The M2s did point out that if you wanted to study a ton on your own you could still do great, though.
From what I understood, since you have a much longer third year, Step 2 scores benefit and their students do really well on Step 2. But let's face it, most of us are worried about Step 1 scores, not Step 2.
Wake is currently undergoing some extensive curriculum review as the new deans wants to bring up Step I scores. As things currently are for the current first and second year classes, we do not teach to the boards and it annoys a lot of people. Then again, there are definitely people who do very well. Along with not teaching to the boards, we take Step I early so you may not have as much of a buffer to waste time during board prep as you might elsewhere.

Thanks for your response UnclePhil (and Jadis) -- Uncle Phil, do you know if they will change the curriculum in time for the incoming class.
I think they told us that the proposed changes would take effect for the next incoming class, yes. Curriculum review has been a point of emphasis this year as no big changes had been made in the last 10 years or so. The new Dean seems to be pretty hands on in this matter.

Thank you. I think I am going to try and contact the dean and see what proposed changes they have/ are preparing to implement for the incoming class. I am really hoping that they decide to beef up their USMLE step 1 preparation. OR, if anyone has a site with proposed curriculum changes (or even who to contact about them), please please POST.

@scdoctor, please let us know what you find!!! These are great concerns and questions...

Has anyone been accepted off of the Alternate List yet? I'm assuming most alternates do not get accepted until after the May 15th deposit deadline?
Wake Forest's deadline is May 1st, so there may be significant movement then. I can't say for sure.

When I called a few weeks ago, they said they have already accepted people off the alternate list. I asked this question on this message board after and haven't heard an affirmative from anyone, but I'll take her at her word. My feeling is we won't see any movement until a couple weeks before or right around May 1
There is a roommate list. Wake also has a website for available housing options and listings in the area. Let me know if you want a run down of the area and neighborhoods.Any current student... Does Wake help make connections with potential roommates easy via some kind of system or do most people rely on things like Facebook?
waitlisted... i just knew it when they told me to read the pdf file lol. grrrrrrrrrrr
Hi all,
First time poster, long time lurker. Just letting some of those wondering about acceptances know that I was recently accepted (and am SUPER excited!).
I interviewed on 1/20 and was accepted on 2/10. And FWIW, my acceptance was also on a "read this PDF" email.
Most likely going to attend this summer.
Cheers,
ER

Hey everyone. I recently narrowed my medical choices down to two, and so I just emailed Wake and let them know that I am withdrawing my acceptance. Hopefully it will help someone on here. Good luck to everyone next fall in med school!
