I just interviewed here today so I thought I'd give a little feedback of my experience for those still waiting to interview.
The interview day itself is very laid back and the staff are extremely helpful. I was very nervous for this MMI format, but there is absolutely no need to be. Albany Medical College takes a very laid-back approach to the MMI and the interviewers are all extremely easy to talk to and promote a very smooth discussion, instead of purposefully trying to be argumentative. The MMI flew by for me personally, and I had a great time doing it! There is very little to do to prepare, aside from looking through some example questions (I believe some links were posted earlier in this thread). The tour and lunch discussion was helpful as well and I was out of there by 1PM.
I have lived near the Albany area throughout undergrad, and so I know it pretty well. Albany is a small sized city with an extremely small cost of living. It is easy to get by paying anywhere from 300-500 dollars a month of rent if you split it with other students. Although it is a smaller city, there is plenty to do in the area in terms of bars, restaurants, movies, malls, and even smaller sized clubs. NYC, Boston, and Montreal are all equidistant from Albany (around 3 hours I believe), so it is not difficult to find things to do.
The last thing I'd like to say is that AMC administration really seems keen on having their students succeed. According to many 3rd and 4th years I know, they are very willing to work around your own schedule in goals, especially in terms of setting up away rotations. Another point I found great is that it is basically a pass fail system and is extremely board focused (2nd year tests end up being mostly, if not all, old board questions). I think this setup maximizes your ability to get high board scores and end up at prestigious specialties/residencies.
Overall, although AMC is expensive, I think it does put you in a great position to succeed! I'm looking forward to finding out my decision! They said it should be released in 2-3 weeks. They said they are basically in the middle of their interview season and that interviews will run all the way to mid-late april. Also, they said they are accepting very conservatively right now and that being put on the under-consideration list is not the end of the world. The UC list is not an official wait list, and many people may get off the UC list once they are done interviewing and have evaluated how many spots they have left. Once this is done, they will create an official waitlist. Sorry for the long post, but I hope this helps! Goodluck to those still interviewing!
