Is anyone looking into the MA in bioethics and health policy? Are there any current students that have anything to say about this program?

Wait listed.

Edit: I guess my interviewing skills suck.

MD schools: 2

Waitlisted isn't rejected! Let them know how much you love the school. I hope things work out for you!

Keep them updated! They love that. Much better than a rejection.

ii this morning, a spot just opened up for Friday.

Havent been following the thread much, can someone send me a link for info on interviews?

Thanks.

Congrats!
Could you tell us when you were complete?
Good luck!

+1

We've got really similar stats too...

Bahhhh, I'm not sure if there's anything we can do. I've been calling to check my status and I'm pretty much just told that its under review. I'd DIE to interview here, too :/

Sorry to hear. 🙁

Which other MD school have you heard back from? And don't you have like 6 MD interviews? I'm sure you'll get in somewhere you're going to be happy with.

I feel the same...with the same score.

While I am sorry to see you didn't get an outright acceptance, the waitlist gives you a fighting chance! If this is truly #1 for you, definitely send a Letter of Intent. That's what I would do anyway....

Hell, just link them to this thread and that should be enough to convince them you're interested.

👍

What were your stats, PR? Was there any reason why you think you got waitlisted?

Can we like sign some petition for getting PR into Loyola? If we can get like 500 SDN users, that has to be something Loyola would look at, right?

I know, it just feels like it is.

I guess. Thank you 🙂

Waitlisted at Cinci also. Yea I have 6 so far. State school on Monday.

<3.3 GPA, >32 MCAT. I guess I didn't interview well.. Not sure really.

It may have been your GPA, but I wouldn't fret. You're bound to get one of them, and you only need one. Remember that.

Why would they screen in and early interview me if they knew my GPA was too low to begin with?

I had an early interview at a school (early sept), and got waitlisted. When I called they said the reason was because my nonmedical volunteer hours were too low. So they interviewed me and I thought the interview went really well but, in the end it was something else that got me waitlisted. Just keep sending those updates. Good luck MedPR

You also have to remember that even if they give you a "reason" they didn't accept you, it doesn't mean that's why you didn't get in. If there are 1000 qualified individuals applying for 200 positions (in anything in life), 800 qualified people still have to be rejected. My guess is a lot of schools simply have to make tough decisions (often random or arbitrary in nature), and reasons they give you for not being accepted may simply be a basic analysis of things any specific applicant may continue to focus on in the event they are not accepted anywhere--however, it's important to still be holistic when thinking about your application.

All that to say, when a school interviews you, you're qualified--they don't throw away an interview to unqualified people. 👍

I'm gonna keep sending them stuff and hope for the best 👍

Who knows? Just my theory, man.

No I'm sure you're right (low GPA is something I'll not stop worrying about until I'm accepted), but it just doesn't make sense to me why they'd bother.. 🙁

Yea I understand that. It's just hard to accept that I've attended two pretty early interviews and gotten waitlisted at both.

Awww MedPR, I'm sorry about the waitlist. I hope you get in here. I feel like you'd be an awesome classmate. Good luck with your other interviews.

I like to think I'd be a good classmate 🙂 Thank you and congrats!

Anyone have any comments on the MD/PhD program at Loyola? I going to the second interview in January!

Sorry I am not MD/PhD and don't know much about the process. I can tell you our three MD/PhD students are some of the most well rounded and easy to be around people in the class. Sucks that we won't hit the floors with them.

hmm quick question...

I have an additional letter of rec. that I received after I was complete...... Can/Should I send that in? It's from an MD.

Personally I would save it for an update should you be put on hold/ignored for 3 months/put on a waitlist, unless you feel that your current letters of rec are insufficient.

Ooook, been almost 10 weeks under review.... is this still normal? Haha

Finally bit the bullet and called the admissions office...a very nice woman informed me that they have been wrestling with serious IT problems and it has prevented them from downloading letters/marking people complete. She told me their goal is to have everyone marked complete within the next week.

I do wish they'd sent out an email saying this, so that I could have avoided spending the last few weeks in PANIC, but I'm glad to know it now. 👍

Which status do you have currently?

Wow, totally misread your post--whoops!

What I was talking about was complete/incomplete--still waiting for them to mark me complete 🙁

Thanks, I would agree.

I sent an "in the area" email and they told me I would be contacted in two weeks if I got an interview, but it's been past two weeks. Can I safely assume I've been rejected? =/

Edit: Nvm, just called and answered my own question. They decided they will not interview me during the time I will be there 🙁 still technically in the running tho...

I did the same thing about a month ago, I did not receive an II, and have since been placed on hold.

"Your file has been reviewed by the Committee on Admissions. The review process is continuous from now until the conclusion of our interview season in mid-April. If you are granted an interview, you will be contacted by phone and/or e-mail."

After i sent them an "In the area" email like 2 weeks ago. Oh well, not to bummed--Good luck to everyone else 🙂

Yea I've had "status feedback not yet defined!!!!" for about a month and a half now. I called the office a week or 2 ago and they said I hadn't been reviewed yet but should be within the week. Still have the same status so I'm just going to guess I won't be hearing from them for a while hahaha

How do you know you've been placed on hold? Do they email you?

AW, just checked my status - on hold after being under review for 9 weeks. Damn 🙁

I really wanted an II here! I'm doing a Master's at Loyola at SSOM right now and I love it! Major disappointment for sure 🙁

Yeah, that's what happened to me too - hopefully we can still get late IIs!

That's what I'm seriously hoping for!! I don't know how often people actually get II's after those hold statuses though... anyone? I'm sure it's been said before, but I just tried to read back a bit and saw nothing.

I definitely saw some people confirming that people can still get IIs after a hold, so don't lose hope 🙂!

I need advice.
I sent an in the area email a while ago when I was in the area and Loyola didn't send me an invite but am still under review. Looking at some of the responses on here, it seems I was lucky not to be put on hold.

I just received an invite for another school in the Chicago area.
Do you think it is application suicide to send yet another in the area email?

I normally wouldn't ask but I'm flying in from the West Coast and am running extremely low on funds.

If I was in your shoes, I would just send another e-mail.

Received the snail mail follow-up acceptance letter today. No deposit required. Loyola is awesome....😀

Random question: Anyone know what the parking situation is like? I saw a few parking garages, but are those included in tuition or is there an extra fee per semester/year?

I'm doing an SMP at SSOM and for us at least - there's a staff/faculty/student parking garage on campus (that you saw) that's like $300ish to park in for the whole year. It takes 5 mins max to walk to Stritch from it. I'm assuming its the same for medical students!

Students park in a garage on the south side of the medical campus which is about an 8-10 minute walk to get to class. The fee is around $230 for the year and it is not included in tuition.

In terms of free parking, there is a very large parking lot across the street from the medical campus in Millers Meadows, where anyone can park for free. Campus security does not watch over that area, but I know that many hospital employees park there everyday. They do close the park at night which would lock your car in if you stay late. Hines also has a free parking lot, but it fills up pretty early in the morning.

There are 6-8 M1s who ride bikes to campus. There is a good amount of covered and uncovered parking for bikes right next to the school. To get here by bus, you need to use the PACE system which for some reason is not recognized by Google maps. I'm not aware of anyone who gets here by bus every day, but you definitely could.
