I had wondered the same thing but my flight on tuesday was cancelled so i had to reschedule. They didnt email us if it was though.

Well considering the generators at NYU hospital are failing and they're carrying critical patients down the stairs, they're probably a bit busy.

I tried to call them to confirm but it looks like all the phone lines are down or busy somehow...?

I read somewhere this morning that parts of the medical school were flooded. If I remember correctly from my interview last year, the admissions office is either on the ground floor or in the basement. It might be a little chaotic trying to get through to them this week haha.

I've tried to email and call various numbers, but that also bounced for some reason... and nyu's website is down. if anybody could confirm that Wednesday interviews are happening... please let me know! I'd be very grateful!

The undergrad NYU website says it will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. This might apply to the Medical School as well?

yes, the nyu admissions office is in the basement, so it's likely that interviews would be cancelled tomorrow as well

Anyone interviewing Thursday? I cant get through to the admissions office and my flight just got canceled, anyone else in this situation?

Hey guys - for those who are trying to reach the admissions office, we still don't have our systems up yet (the entire medical center). It is likely that you will be able to start getting in reach with admissions around the end of the week, but until then hold tight!

I understand all NYU email services are down and that Sackler is closed through tomorrow, so if my interview is on Friday, would it be advisable to cancel my travel plans and notify them right now that I'll need to reschedule, or should I try to still make it out? FWIW, I'm only about 180 miles out, so I will do whatever is the smallest burden on the staff and faculty right now. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I'm an NYU medical student.
Our school/medical center is closed through the rest of the week. If you have to cancel your flights for friday, just call the admissions office and leave a message. I'm sure they will be understanding since the office is submerged in water and no one can get into the school this week.

I've been complete since Aug 29. Is it a good idea to send an update letter?

The phone lines seem to be down... i emailed them, hopefully they'll receive that

I can confirm that MSTP interviews for 11/2 are canceled. They will reach out to reschedule as soon as the school is in working order again.

Wow. Can't really imagine the medical center/office being flooded right now X_X. Hope everyone is holding up alright.

According to their twitter interviews aren't resuming until after Thanksgiving...

This means that they will extend their interview season by at least a month, or they will interview fewer people this cycle. I highly doubt it's the latter. Does anyone know when NYU stops interviewing?

They usually end in December. I guess this means decisions will be delayed too. Sighhhhhh

From twitter: We've received questions on whether the interview season will be shortened or extended. Rest assured we expect to do the latter.

Also from twitter: Since our server is currently down, we will be pushing back the deadline for submission of your secondary app to Dec 1st.

I urge everyone to be patient. We're trying to get back on our feet ASAP

So if we haven't heard by now, should we assume game over?
I wouldnt. They usually send out invites about two weeks before your interview day, so I would give it at least another month before starting to worry (factor in the holidays at the end of December, so theyll probably finish around mid-December). BUT this is only my speculation!

I had an interview on 11/5 and when I emailed them they told me that they were going to reschedule and weren't sure when they'd start interviews again.

As of today, I could not reach the admissions office by phone and have not received a reply to emails. I am scheduled to interview this Thursday 11/8. Is is safe to say that my interview will be rescheduled for a later date?

I know most of the discussion here are from people who have received interview invites. Anyone shed light on whether NYU is still handing out II's or are they pretty much done sending them out?

Well since theyre still receiving secondaries, Id say theyre not done with IIs yet.

Does anyone know when they will start interviewing again?

They just sent an email out saying they're starting again on November 26th.

I was complete mid-September, should I give up how now? 😕
I really love this school 🙁

I was complete mid August. Gave up a few weeks ago 🙁. But hey, you never know what could happen 😀 Good luck!

Interview invite last week. Complete around the 10th of October.

So.. I need to reschedule my interview, but I'm having a lot of trouble accessing the portal. Is anybody else having this problem?

I was not a model student at any stretch. I will be graduating from one of the worst state college with a GPA of around 3.6 and my second MCAT score of 29 (26, the first time). I do have ample amount of research experience (~ close to 31/2 years), and I was applying for the MD/PhD program at NYU. But due to the verification process, my application was late and I missed the deadline. I have the option of sending in the secondary for the MD program and I feel like it is not even worth it to apply to this school anymore. It seems like everyone already got interviews, hence I think I will not be getting into NYU, at least this time. Please share any insight on this. I have to till the 15th of November to fill out the secondary.

A 3.6 and 29/26 is definitely not ideal for NYU, but if this were earlier in the season I would say go for it. But it is mid November, and the stats aren't the strongest in the first place, so I feel like your chances would be very slim of getting an interview. However, due to the recent storm, the interviews have been delayed and I believe they are not resuming until after thanksgiving, meaning the interview season MAY have to be extended. If you have the money for the secondary, I would still go for it. You never know if you don't try, right?

I think it's too late and you'll simply be wasting your money. Unfortunately the verification process did take forever this year. Good luck otherwise!

Thanks dsk89 and GooseWing. Money is not an issue as I have been saving up for this vary reason for a while. The reason for my hesitation is the implications of this application on my future applications to NYU. I want to end up in NYU one way or the other, so I will be retaking my MCAT and increasing my extracurricular activities and stuff. I will probably be published twice before I graduate, unfortunately those would come too late for this application cycle.

Regardless, at this point I want to push that decision to the last minute and actually answer these questions. But I am lost at the first question, the other questions I am quite comfortable in answering. I am finding it extremely hard to answer a specific thing that I would bring to the NYU SOM community. I don't understand what kind of qualities the community is looking for. So, if any of you could share what you wrote along the lines of, it would be a great help. Thanks a lot.

Considering that it's so late in the cycle, if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't submit a secondary this cycle in order to avoid being considered a reapplicant, which I assume would make it harder to be accepted in the future. Instead, I'd improve my scores and EC's and apply in the future.
