I know fsm was behind in sending out the secondary app, but their first interview dates still start on Oct 1. I would think they at least give you a two weeks notice before asking you to come over!

Submitted five days ago but just checked the status and found out I was complete! and now we wait again...

show us some love FSM!!! :xf:

^ Ha same; submitted few days ago and already complete. Definitely one of the quickest secondary completion I've seen.

Question about question 3: .Non-Traditional Student. If you will have completed your education more than one academic year prior to matriculation in medical school, please describe your activities during that time.
.
.
I am a Non-traditional student, but my time away from school was a few years ago, and I will be taking classes up to maticulation. I assume I do not need to answer this, but am not 100% sure... ..any thoughts?..

I'm guessing you should answer this question, as I believe they are referring to time since your undergraduate education in this prompt. Even if you are doing undergraduate class, the essay is titled Non-Tranditional student and you most certainly are non-traditional.

That was my concern. oh well, i guess I have altered this essay about 20 times anyways

That's what I did. I finished undergrad and am currently in a masters program, so I described the program and my current extracurriculars/jobs.

I am starting the essays for this application and the first one talks about their unique curriculum. I was thinking of discussing how having 3 free nights allows students to engage in other research/service opportunities. But what else is unique about their curriculum that should probably be discussed in this essay? Thanks so much!

To clarify, the term they use is "distinctive educational philosophy". What do they mean by this?

I spent about 15 minutes reading through their new curriculum and just jotted down notes on what piqued my interest/lined up with what I'm looking for in a school. Then I just turned the notes into an essay. But yeah, the link above is really helpful.

I actually called admissions regarding this same question because I'm a similar non-trad. I didn't attend college after high school and only started my undergraduate courses 3 years ago with the intent to marticulate next year. The lady at admissions said they were only interested in my years prior to my recent studies if I had been involved in activities that were relevant to medicine. However, my perception was that it wasn't a big deal to complete this essay, but I personally chose not to.

Thanks for the info. I suppose I will go ahead and use the essay, since I have it ready now anyways.

I am not sure if it matters, but I submitted my secondary the day after I got it.

Very excited to interview here! The panel interview sounds a little intimidating but the feedback about it seems to be mostly positive and I am sure it will be a great experience.

Good luck to everybody else, and hopefully I will meet a lot of you soon!

When are their interview days if you don't mind me asking?

Interview Invite! :soexcited:

So excited, although none of the dates are great for me classes-wise. Like MinneSnowta said, MWFs October 1-10, although only 4 dates were offered.

Congrats! Makes up for the awful game today I bet. 🙁🙁🙁

My options are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting in early October.

Much appreciated! Thank you and good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed to get this one...they just fit with my style so well from what I read.

II today as well! Also, Go Niners!

WOOHOO +1 on the niners 🙂

congrats on the II! I just submitted the secondary after having to wait for a paycheck....but that's it! No more secondaries! Hope my slight delay won't put me too far back in app processing :luck:

AAHH! If there is one school on my list that I want an II from the most, it's Northwestern. Please Northwestern! Pretty please! Send me an II!!

+1

For those who have received IIs...when were you guys complete? and also CONGRATS!!!

Off-Topic:

Jim Harbaugh is my savior!

Now to make my post On-Topic:

Congrats to all those with IIs!

I could easily write a novel for this first question... so much of this new curriculum fits. I need another 300 words. I wish this were like Wheel of Fortune, "could I buy a vowel please?"

Blah!

Interview Invite here a couple of days ago! I submitted my secondary the day after I received it

I wouldn't broadcast your Niner allegiance considering your location. You're in Raider Territory...

Interview Invite! Complete the day it came out 8/26, Stats 3.9/35.

Is anybody else having trouble rescheduling an interview? I've tried to contact the person who schedules interviews several times, leaving a message, but haven't heard back in days... I'm just wondering if this is normal 😕

I rescheduled over email, but it did take a couple days for us to go back and forth with details. They usually emailed me at the end of the day, around 4-5pm, so maybe hang in there until later today..?

Interview Invite this morning!

Received secondary 8/28, Complete 9/3.

OOS, 3.45cgpa, 30R

They don't just look at stats...stay hopeful!

Congrats to you and others with II's! I just sent an in-the-area email--It took me awhile to submit this secondary, turned it in 9/9. Hopefully they can get back to me!

What interview dates are available now?

Quick question about the last question on the secondary. How specific and detailed do they want the answer to be? Do you guys think it's sufficient to just talk about why I envision myself getting possibly involved in academic medicine or primary care (or should I just focus on one and write more about it)? Or do they actually want specific details such as what kind of specialty/sub-specialty I want to get into?

I had to wait ~24 hours for a response after both calling and emailing for a rescheduled date. However, once they responded the process was very fast.

They only had Mondays and Wednesdays available when I signed up this morning...the 1st, 3rd, 15th, and 17th if I remember correctly.

I know that I for one DID pick a path in medical school and then possible residencies sub specialties and beyond, but I also did include a fair amount saying that I don't know enough about the medical field to know what path I will be completely interested in when I go through clinicals/etc, and the fact that the medical field is in a state of transition especially with the ACA and primary care shortages, that I can't predict my path.

Ok, it has been 3 days since I left a message and 2 days since I sent an e-mail with no response (which seems longer than your experiences) so I'll try again tomorrow to see

When I scheduled an interview online, I think there was a note that said you'll get a confirmation email within 3 days or something. If I haven't gotten that email, should I contact someone? If anyone's gotten the confirmation email, is there any important info in it?

Anyone know if N'western sends out rejections pre-interview this early on? Or waitlists? Or is it just interview or silent rejection?
