Thanks. I'm definitely nervous now. And I hope you get an II soon.
II Today. IS. Stoked.
If you don't meet a mission group it will be a while. As an IS it only took about a week to get complete for me.Congratulations!! Can I ask when you sent your secondary? I'm still waiting for a complete status 🙄
Just found out today that I was placed on hold after my interview at OHSU. Anyone knows around what percentage of interviewees are placed in this hold pool? And what are their chances traditionally? Thanks guys!

A lot.
Pretty good.
When did you interview?

Mine was submitted 9/22 and complete 10/12.
All right, so that was almost 3 weeks. I submitted on October 26th. Hopefully I'll be complete sometime next week!
OHSU is one of those schools you just can't put a timeline on. My buddy took six weeks to mark complete, I took only nine days.

If you look through the thread you will see there is a huge variance in how long it takes.
What he said.
Almost everyone is put into the hold pool until March/May. Only the top of the top.interviews are outright accepted. Go back to post number 481 and DAPI made a really clear explanation of how OHSU works. The only thing is, I think that he set the acceptance level way too low, or almost nobody makes the acceptance cutoff mark.
I believe that the school has to offer acceptances to equal the entering class (144 in this case) in March. Everyone else gets a number on the wait list. Everyone that has multiple acceptances have until mid May to cancel all but one of their acceptances. That is when the wait list starts moving in earnest.
Good luck. If you really want OHSU you will wait it out. Otherwise, take it as a sign to move on. I know that I will probably will be waiting it out.

Thanks guys! Oh boy...GERD relapse plus I need to put down my deposit for DOs now. I interviewed at OHSU on Oct 26th.

OK, I know who you are now. We interviewed at other schools together as well. I finally matched your face with your screen name. I don't remember, were you in the morning interview rotation?
Which school needs the deposit? Western isn't until December. LECOM may be due if you were accepted right away. Did you get an acceptance at another school? If so, then congratulations!
I figure that I am just going to put down a deposit for either Western or Nova, then if I get into OHSU then I would need to make a decision.
I am truly sorry that you were put in the holding pool.
Now I am nervous about my decision.I hope they don't put off my application until later.

Argh, I hope it doesn't take six weeks for me. I know there's no way I'll have an admissions decision by the time I need to put down a deposit at another school in December but I'd like to at least know whether I have an II by then![]()
Aha, weren't you going to interview at U of A as well? I got accepted to Des Moines, COMPNW and waitlisted at LECOM and EVMS.
A lot of schools have refundable deposits until May 15th. Just something to keep in mind.
DO deposits are non-refundable. And they are fairly steep. COMP is $1000 in December and a second $1000 in either Feb. or March. If OHSU puts us on hold, then the deposit to a different school needs to be paid. Then in May when OHSU decides to accept a bunch of people, the $2000 is thrown away. That is money that I could use to get a good laptop, get some books, pay for food/gas for my family, or just use as "fun money" to treat my wife to something special when she gets depressed from the rain.
Interviewing next week, first interview and looks like it might be the only one ahhh
I also wonder how much being a reapplicant factors into this, thinking that perhaps they don't have to re-validate your entire application and they can just verify the delta? Two years ago, it took 16 days. Last year, 7 days. This year, 4 days. 😎If you look through the thread you will see there is a huge variance in how long it takes.
I honestly doubt you'll have another year. 🙂 I think you'll be matriculating instead.I also wonder how much being a reapplicant factors into this, thinking that perhaps they don't have to re-validate your entire application and they can just verify the delta? Next year I expect to be marked complete within 10 minutes of submitting my secondary.![]()
Aw, thanks.I honestly doubt you'll have another year. 🙂 I think you'll be matriculating instead.
What're the current stats on your apps? (Feel free to PM me or just say you're too bashful to share at this point.) I'm really curious. I'm rooting for ya.Aw, thanks.
We'll see how many more data points I have to add to the sample size...
Nah, I don't mind. My stats (in my mdpps) aren't the problem. I had a very bad interview there two years ago and, despite performing well last year it was still not enough 'good data' to overcome the stain of the previous year's misadventures. So, we'll see if they invite me back for a third interview. What're the current stats on your apps? (Feel free to PM me or just say you're too bashful to share at this point.) I'm really curious. Ohsu does seen to like reapplicants last years class was 38 percent reapplicants that's pretty goodNah, I don't mind. My stats (in my mdpps) aren't the problem. I finished the secondary in late July, and I still haven't heard anything. I'm OOS with a 3.71 and 35. Should I be worried?

If you're applying MD/MPH, it's the MPH side that's holding up your II. The director of admissions was in a car accident and they had to reorganize. I was also starting to get worried, then I just sent in an "In the Area" email. A very nice woman in admissions explained the whole thing.
Even if the MD side has decided to interview you, you might not get your invite until a bit later. Hold tight, I'm sure you got this one in the bag. 🙂

Lol Maybe he lives in Ontario? You live in Oregon, yet you sent an in the area email anyways? 😕

S/he could be in Ontario, OR or somewhere similarly far away and traveling to Portland...You live in Oregon, yet you sent an in the area email anyways? 😕
Relax. The whole day is really chill. If you are nervous, you won't act naturally and they want to see if you are someone that they want to spend the next four years working with. Not only that but their students represent the school for the rest of their careers. Are you the type of person that they want to represent their school? If you are nervous at an interview, you don't show your true personality. Be confident (but not cocky), be humorous (but not silly), be helpful (but not a d-bag), be the person that you would want to have as your doctor.
Take my advice with a grain of salt. I still have not heard back from my interview day on 10/26. But for me it was my fifth interview this cycle, and my last one. I have two acceptances, and I will be going to one of them if OHSU does not pan out.
Good luck to all that are interviewing this week. 🙂 Just don't take my spot. 😛

I'm from Oregon, but I'm doing a stint in another state currently. Only coming home for Christmas.
