So...according to Kathy (who is very nice), they have given out ~120. I'm a little bummed. That number seems too high to get any early hold list movement 🙁

True Oregonian any word on number of acceptance yet.
I had a friends who was accepted today. I'm not sure if they are IS or OOS though just due to when they moved here.
Do you know when they interviewed?

I think it is 141 for this year which includes the md/phd studentsAlso 120/? What is the total number again I'm sure it's in my interview information somewhere but I'm at work and am curious haha!
+1 hoping for the best, kinda expecting the worst at this pointThis just made me give up all hope 🙁
Status updated to HOLD today.
Interviewed 3/1 OOS...only 5 more weeks of waiting!
~20 spots for a whole month worth of interviewees seems very slim.

That seems about right, actually. If they begin interviewing in late August / early September, that is ~20 acceptances / month.
IF every person with an acceptance matriculated to OHSU which is highly unlikely. As awesome as the tram may be...
I have the feeling I am going to get sick of the tram when I ride it twice a day... And sick of the hour commute on the bus each way 🙁
The bright side is that the annual bus pass is CHEAP! I will be saving over $1000 per year in gas alone from what I am commuting right now.

(FWIW, I interviewed on 2/1, and I was put on hold on 4/2)
So they gave out ~120 acceptances out of 240ish? Is that right? If so, that doesn't seem too bad!
No, it is 120 out of 140. The 240 number is just an average of what has happened in the past. There is no guarantee that it will happen again this year.
Those that are on the wait list are sure hoping that the 240 happens, but we can only wait and see how it all plays out after May 15th.
Sorry to those of you waiting. It is not great news, but it is what it is.

:shakes head: It's so funny how some people actually think this is a safety school. To each their own, I guess; but when I got my acceptance packet today and looked at the financial figures, OHSU was tied with my second choice for most expensive estimate of total cost ($78k a year, about $25k of which I hope to counter by living at the co-op rather than a private residence/roommate throughout my time at OHSU). It was always my top choice. I'll throw down as much as I need to maintain happiness throughout med school while getting a top notch education in one of the most beautiful states and cities in the nation. I never thought I stood a chance, let alone after they rejected me from the MPH interview. Even when I interviewed MD-only I was skeptical that I'd land on the far end of the waitlist.Except 100% of those accepted are NOT going to choose OHSU. Believe it or not, some people choose this school as a safety, and they have (in their opinions) better places to go. When the do go off somewhere else, that will open up the spots for the fine people on the wait list that really want to come here.
Keep heart and trust that things will work out. You already beat out over 4500 applicants just by getting an interview.. Now you just prove you are in the top 30-50% of those that are left. 🙂

Wow much has happened since I last posted. Hang in there everyone. There's still quite a way to go. And you have much support from everyone in this forum!

I'm not sure any of that lends optimism to those of you waiting, but I really hope it does.
x 10^6 everyone!
Bt dubz, I can't wait to meet you dsoz!
If that's some people's idea of safety, I can only wonder at what they think is danger!:shakes head: It's so funny how some people actually think this is a safety school.
Hah! Of course I mean that in a good way. 🙂 No, unfortunately I can't make it out again until it's time to move on account of the finances. But, I know I'm matriculating so it's not that big of a deal. Thanks for the luck on the co-op. Considering how few spots they have and the fact that you must be unanimously voted in, it seems more competitive to land a room than to land a seat in the school of medicine. LoLI really hope you mean that in a good way 🙂. Our meeting will take place the next time you come out. Are you coming for a second look? Good luck with getting a co-op spot. If I was young and single, it would probably be perfect.

Hey all,
I have been following this thread since December and its help keep me in the loop in this process so I just wanted to pay it forward to those using this as a method of tracking the application process.
I interviewed 3/8, accepted 4/8 for MD, "On Hold" for MPH.
Last year I interviewed 1/7 and I was waitlisted at position 86. The waitlist ended last year at 67, the year before it ended somewhere in the high 90s. If you get waitlisted there is hope especially if you are 50 or below. Good luck to you all and I plan on see some of you in the fall.
Congrats!!! Now go out and celebrate!Hey all,

I understand the wait list feeling. I was also prepared to be put on the wait list, or out right rejected. One of my mentors tried to apply to OHSU about 20 years ago, and he was told that he was "too old" at 40. Since I am older, I felt like my chances were slim to none. I guess that they have reversed their views on the non-traditional applicant. Ha ha.

OHSU has the 4th highest average age in the country
And it is people like me that make it that way. 🙂 If you young people object, I will beat you with my cane.
I went into this thinking that I may be the oldest in the class, but I may get beat by at least one other. I will need to figure out another way to stand out.
Pretty soon I will need false teeth, a walker, and bifocals (these will probably come first).
ha ha.
His memory is fading in his old age...
But the eyesight is still good... It is the hearing that is going, going, gone...
DSOZ!!! (does that make you happy)
I do that so I can search the thread for things that I said before. I can just search my name...

what?! A post without it ending in "dsoz"?!![]()

Does anyone know do they not necessarily go in order when addressing final decions on applicants? I mean to say it seems some 3/8 interviewers have received a decision before people I know who interviewed in February?
Who are 1-3 in that category?OHSU has the 4th highest average age in the country
I am not sure, that was just the data I saw before. Average age is 26 the year it was the highest was like 44 youngest I think 20Who are 1-3 in that category?
I probably need to go talk to them, since I'll probably qualify for the AARP before OHSU will let me in.
