Can't believe some decisions take 8 weeks how did those before me keep your sanity during this wait!
I only allowed myself to check the portal one time once a week so that I wouldn't go crazy pressing F5 over and over. I figured if it was good news I'd get an email and if it was Hold or Reject I could stand to not know for a day or two since it'd only be either more waiting or disappointment. How many weeks are you down so far?
Just four but my wait for an interview was really long so in general LONG WAIT!
5 weeks to go
5 weeks to go
I would actually be willing to bet we are under the 5 week mark. In the past, OHSU has released waitlist numbers on the Thursday before May 15th. If that's the case again this year, it will be on May 9th, putting us at 4 weeks 😀
Yea I had read through all of last years thead and saw that. Just trying not to bank on it even though I hope that is the case.I would actually be willing to bet we are under the 5 week mark. So...we have already survived waiting for MCAT results, then waiting for AMCAS verification, then waiting for secondaries, then waiting for secondary status to be complete, then waiting for an interview, then waiting for a decision (or lack thereof). We have already been waiting for the better part of a year, so we can handle 4 (hopefully not 5) more weeks 🙂 Stay strong, my friend! That seems like a lifetime!!!
:nudge: Considering your recent news, how much would an acceptance here affect your future?Almost 3 weeks post-interview...it's too soon, isn't it?

Patients with patience and being patient with patients...I think a perfect answer to a "name one of your strengths" questions at OHSU would be patients... and then tell them this
Not sure the interviewer would find it all that funny though...

No worries, I only jest like a rhyming, alliterative, and punning pest. >.<
I've had a stressful week

Oi vey, good luck! I'm here if you need a sounding board.I'm still kinda freaking out about the $100k cost differential between the schools combined with the fact that in some ways, they aren't THAT different.![]()
But I do like the other place a lot and I would go there if they have me instate tuition. I'm still kind of figuring it out.

Well said...This used to be one of my biggest weaknesses, OHSU is very very very slowly transforming me lol

Curious as to general idea of where they are in interview order, anyone in SDN land who interviewed in February who still not heard?
Was that from the thread or people you know? Only reason I ask is I thought the last I had seen was 3/1, on here at leastThere may be some outliers back there that haven't heard, but I think we were like onto 3/8 last I checked.

Hey all,
I have been following this thread since December and its help keep me in the loop in this process so I just wanted to pay it forward to those using this as a method of tracking the application process.
I interviewed 3/8, accepted 4/8 for MD, "On Hold" for MPH.
Last year I interviewed 1/7 and I was waitlisted at position 86. The waitlist ended last year at 67, the year before it ended somewhere in the high 90s. If you get waitlisted there is hope especially if you are 50 or below. Good luck to you all and I plan on see some of you in the fall.
+1 is this your only option left for this cycle? Can I get some solidarity for all the champs on hold that have been waiting 5+ months for some loving from the Hill?👍

Also, Guero, go get yourself a beer and celebrate your acceptance. You don't have to be on here ALL the time y'know 😉

I'm down to just here, been on hold for about 4 months now just ready to find out the decision good bad or uglyI have one other acceptance, but this is the school that I've been dreaming to get into for over 5 years. As someone who has traveled to a new city every year since early childhood, Oregon and OHSU is the only place I've lived that feels like home.
Anyone else get that feeling? This overwhelming feeling of home? 😍
What about you exitonly? How's the app cycle treating you?
You will get an email from Katie. There are two more second looks scheduled. One in April, and another in May. They did the one in February because there was a Friday that didn't have an interview day scheduled, so Katie decided to do one earlier than they normally do.
The classrooms are not in the basement, and they have whiteboards, not chalkboards. 🙂 Most professors (reported by MS1) use the computer and powerpoint. The one prof that we saw on the second look in February didn't have powerpoint, but he did talk a lot, and he drew on the whiteboard a lot. He also pulled out the old-school overhead projector with acetate slides that were probably made 15 years ago. But he was the exception, not the rule when it comes to professors.
Doesn't being a Montana resident qualify you for WICHE? I thought that it meant that tuition was a lot cheaper.
As for debt, OHSU is the LEAST expensive of the three schools where I was accepted. The other two are private schools, and are at least 10-20k a year more expensive. Even UA, Phoenix would have ended up being about equal to OHSU (first year in Arizona would be OOS, but could then petition to be counted as IS and pay IS tuition for the remaining three years, it would balance out to be about equal to OHSU for four years). Only LECOM-B, of all the schools where I applied, had a tuition that was significantly lower than OHSU.
I can't immagine having to pay for travel to 10 interviews. I went to five. Two were in the same trip to Florida, and two more were in Oregon. I did stay in a hotel in Lebanon the night before COMP because I wanted to go to the pre-interview pizza social the night before and didn't want to drive to Albany/Lebanon twice in two days. I was able to sleep in on the day of my OHSU interview to travel the 20 minutes to get to the school. I will probably ride the bus most days next year, which will take about an hour. 🙁 No sleeping in for me.
I am pretty sure that UW still has the WWAMI program. That would be sweet if you wanted to do that program and live in Montana still.
Good luck to you.

LoL, c'mon, cut me some slack: I wasn't on SDN all weekend. I try to keep those EtOH-filled and as stress free as possible, lol.Can I get some solidarity for all the champs on hold that have been waiting 5+ months for some loving from the Hill?👍

Great question. I imagine you don't have to begin withdrawing until the school verifies that they've received your confirmation of acceptance. So if that does happen, I'd slip something in your envelope of signed forms that asks them to email you that they've received your stuff. Does that make sense? If OHSU sends an acceptance to someone on May 14, do they have to withdraw from all other schools (or from OHSU) within 24 hours? Or is there a 2-week grace period for new acceptances? Likewise, if you get a new acceptance after May 15, how long do you have to freak out before pulling one?
I know I should already have my schools ranked & figured out, and I do, but the only wild card left is financial aid. The cost differences between my options are so un-ignorably large that I am basically choosing 100% based on financial aid at this point...and everyone is keeping their financial aid ULTRA TOP SECRET until who knows when.![]()
To those brave souls on hold that have called the admissions office, have any of you attempted to find out where you stand? Like if your overall score is favorable or if you should be expecting a rejection? I know we only have ~4 weeks to go, but after being on hold for >4 months, I'm starting to worry 😳

They will not tell you anything. I tried calling and asking when I was on hold and wasn't given any information. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
