haven’t heard anything from them... whats going on El Pasoooooo! haha

Today is an interview day for Paul L Forster. I am pretty sure they will send the invites out tomorrow.

We were told that adcoms meet right after interviews, and they just had one yesterday, so it won't come out until this afternoon at the earliest. Maybe even Monday or Tuesday??? Don't worry though it will come.

Did they mention if they'd be on holiday all week (vs. just taking the last 2 days for Thanksgiving)?

Nothing yet... Am I going crazy or did El Paso already send out Pre-match offers?

Just received pre-match

For the poster above - did the email state the scholarship or was that in a letter you received?

It was in the email.

Accepted to Paul L. Foster!!!! :soexcited: :highfive:

I can't believe I'm going to be a doctor!!!! I'm still in shock over all this, its so surreal...its truly an overwhelming feeling knowing that in a few years we will be writing orders and making decisions that directly impact people and their families...people's lives will be in our hands...This is an incredible blessing and privilege!

Congratulations to all who have been accepted and the many more that I know are soon to come (some people on this forum 🙂) I hope that the magnitude of this event is not lost upon any of you and you take the time to reflect on all the hard work you've done and sacrifices you have undergone to reach this monumental milestone.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!!!!! 👍

^^^^

Congrats sir!! Definitely have been rooting for you!

Accepted! Question...it says in the email to respond and to send the enclosed letter back. Do we get this letter by mail or was it supposed to be an attachment?

Does anyone know what the average USMLE Step 1 Score was for El Paso last year? I know they told us in the interview, but I've misplaced my notes :/

Does anyone know what the other Tx school avgs are? I know 220 is about the national average. My friend told me utmb's avg is 232.

The average for our most recent class to take the USMLE was 230.

I'm a current second year here (originally from out-of-state). If you have any questions let me know.

(Also posted this in the Lubbock thread...):

This may or may not be the right place to post this but if any of yall interviewed at both Tech Lubbock and El Paso, which are you ranking above the other and why? I'm torn...

ii today! If you're still waiting there is hope! The options for dates was Dec 13 and Jan 3.

II today!! Yesss! So. excited. This will be my first interview so far 😀

Had a choice between Jan. 3 and Jan. 10. Went with Jan. 3.

For those still waiting, there's hope!

Damn they sent that huge batch out today lol

Best of luck to all of you guys, the school is incredible and I'm sure you guys will all love it, I know I did.

Interviews were very relaxed and conversational, not stressful at all. Just chill and be yourself, y'all will do just fine. 👍

Awesome! Congratz!

I'll be interviewing there on Jan 10th! Im super excited because it's been the only interview invitation I've received this cycle!

Any suggestions/tips?!

First of all, don't worry about it being your only interview this cycle. You only need one interview and one acceptance to become an MD. You don't need the added pressure of feeling you only have one shot, just go in there and rock it!

Stay relaxed, calm and enthusiastic. Look up SDN feedback on this site, research basic information on the PPACA, and also begin formulating answers for general questions such as...

1. Why MD?
2. Why Paul L Foster?
3. Tell me about yourself.

Don't rehearse anything because it should sound natural and fluid, however definitely know in what direction you want to take the interview. Be prepared for some ethical questions as well.

The campus is awesome, the curriculum is brilliant and the city is cozy. I think you will like Foster, I know I did. Best of luck, hit me up if you anymore questions. 😉

Did anyone who interviewed on December 6 receive a pre-match acceptance?

Dude you never replied to my private message!!!! 😛

If anyone has questions on Tech @ El Paso's curriculum, check out this sweet site:

Also, who knows the schedule for first years...
Is it 8-5 days or are they half days?

First year here.

I LOVE our schedule.

First of all, we're in a unit schedule so we only have one true test every unit over lecture material (typically lasts 5-7 weeks) that counts and then we have a 4 day weekend before the new unit starts. (We also have an OSCE every unit).

Monday-Wednesday are typically lectures and labs 8am to noon with occasionally a longer day running to 3 or 4pm. (They aren't all mandatory and are recorded.)

Thursday it really depends. We have four mandatory classes (spanish (1hr), SCI (1hr), Formative test (doesn't count for a grade, it is there to test your progress that week) and Med skills (standardized patient sessions with a "skills" portion where we work on our physical exam skills, 1.5hr) on Thursdays and everyone is split up at different times. Some people get out at 1:30, some people aren't done until 5:30 with breaks in between.

Friday is a really relaxed day from 8am to noon.. we have 2 classes with 1 being mandatory. You have Master's Colloquium (not mandatory but suggested!!) where you meet with your college and college Masters and discuss ethical issues, eat some breakfast... I thoroughly enjoy MC. You also have Work Case Example where you are in small groups (8sh people) and a clinician and you go through 3-4 cases pertaining to the clinical scheme that week and apply what you learned (presentation, diagnoses, treatment).

Our schedule leaves A LOT of time for personal study. I know other med students at other schools who are exhausted after 9 hour lecture days and STILL have to study. I hardly ever feel that way here. My typical study schedule involves studying for the week ahead on Saturday and Sunday (relaxed.. still taking some me time unless it's close to an exam), Monday-Wednesday evenings are also big study days but Thursday afternoon I take completely off. Friday I study "half day" and take the rest of the day off. I feel like I have a pretty good balance here (however, the 2 weeks prior to our end of unit exams, I go into pretty heavy study mode).

I hope this helps! I LOVE OUR SCHEDULE. 🙂
