Yea I got an email about a background check and other information.
 
I got into El Paso today as well! I'm very happy - I thought the organ system based approach is excellent. When does everyone plan to move to El Paso?

Hey guys!

Congrats on matching!

Last year there was a "spring training" (IT WASNT REQUIRED..ha, the name is changing this year to I think Spring Preview) where incoming first years were able to go to El Paso. get a chance to apartment hunt/meet up with potential roomates/see the school again and even had a fun dinner at one of the faculty member's house with other professors and students. I think they're doing that again for you guys this year June 3-5th. It isn't mandatory but it would be a good opportunity to find an apartment and mingle with some students before school starts a month later. 🙂 So keep that in your calendars! Check the FB group to to start finding roommates/asking questions.
 
Did anyone else go to the ttuhsc secondary site and accept the offer on there? It didn't say anything about it in the email but I decided to just take a look and there was on option to accept the offer online.

I just went ahead and clicked the accept button.

Yeah I went on there and accepted and also wrote an e-mail accepting the offer
 
+1 . really hoping for a seat at my top choice school! Wished we knew our placement on the waitlist. Anybody know how many students are going to be in the class of 2017? I remember from my interview that it might be 80 but decisions were being made if they were going to crank it up to 100.

If you're still waiting to hear from other school, then should I just go ahead and click this accept button? This isn't set in stone and won't take me out of consideration for other schools, right?

I am not sure. I would contact the admissions office to make sure.

From what I understand it wont. Accepting isn't legally binding or anything. The only thing accepting the offer will do is make it so after June 1st no other school can accept you anymore.
 
Accept. Then do your stuff, if u get the call to the other school , you just tell them that.
The $100 fee is due may15 , nonrefundable after may 15th as well.
Summer preview is in early June!
40bucks for background check....
Cost just keep coming .

You should be good as long as you get it done before matriculation. Obviously its better to get it over with now but admissions told me its not urgent.

The one thing Im wondering about is, I spent 2 months in new york working and because of that I have to pay an additional 68 dollars 😱 I really think thats a bunch of bs, I'm going to call admissions tomorrow and see if they really need me to pay for that.
 
Well I'd say that since the CB check release form is due 03/01/13, so might the CB check itself.
 
I got on the alternate list here as well. I really wanna go here! Is there something I can do to influence the outcome at this point? transcripts, updates..etc? I've read around that being creative at this point really helps your chances of getting in.

So tired of waiting....😕
 
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but everything I've heard has pretty much been that El Paso already has their alternate list ranked. From what I understand, they don't take update letters either.

That's my understanding as well. I was waitlisted here 2 years ago. I believe they rank their list from the beginning. Not saying that it wouldn't be helpful to send a letter, but I wouldn't bank on it working.

Wait, did they send out an email saying who is on the waitlist?
 
I think I will send a letter of intent, just in case. Who is the best person to send it to? The Founding/Regional Dean or the Associate Dean for Admissions?
There are so many deans! The latter was at the interviews - so he's probably the better person to send it to, right?

If they rank the wait list, why not disclose our numbers? I don't see the harm - at least it would give us more of a realistic perspective on what to expect..
 
I was wondering if anyone knew about this schools accreditation standing? I know they were provisional, but are they fully accredited now? Thanks for the help!
 
Has anyone received the second mailing packet? So far I only received the original packet which had the forms to sign for our acceptance. I haven't received anything else about orientation, immunization or anything else.

We received the news internally (LCME committee unofficially told our Dean we were accredited and he emailed the school), official letter should be released in a few weeks from the LCME committee.

A big stack of papers. It includes information about the white coat ceremony, orientation, several papers that need to be filled out and turned in such as immunization, Spanish assessment, and some other stuff. Then theres also information about online training that needs to be completed.
 
I am an out of state student and I found out today that I received an in-state tuition scholarship! So excited! There's a much greater chance I will attend this school now 🙂

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if other accepted students, particularly in state students who ranked this school as their #1, could provide reasons they loved this school? I am an out of state student and am fortunate to have gotten a lot of acceptances, but I am struggling to make a decision and any feedback would be great! To be honest, I'm not sure I loved El Paso, but I really didn't get to see it much on my interview.
 
If anyone has considered military medicine and wants more info, let me know. I am in the Navy's HSCP program and it pays pretty well, full health benefits for you and your family, etc. Send me a private message if you want more info.
