Hi Tara,

I was curious as to whether or not I should withdraw my application due to prerequisite requirements.

For the Biology section, I will have taken:

Genetics and Biotechnology
General Biology 1
General Biology 2
Molecular Biology- Upper Division
Neurobiology- Upper Division
Marine Biology
and Upper division research credit in Biology

Unfortunately, I'm not sure any of these will count for my physiology requirement and will not be able to enroll in any more courses before matriculating (Already at 20 units for spring semester and 10 for summer :/)

Please let me know, I'd greatly appreciate it :]

I would submit the Supp App and include these courses in the section wherein you may ask for a course sub. It's a different story if you had NO biology coursework.

Hi Tara

I just submitted today--my clinical letter should be available on Monday. I noticed it said I need to submit at least 1 letter before my file will start getting processed, would you recommend I submit one today and then the rest on Monday? Or will it not even matter.

Also, is there a maximum number of letters I can send? I was planning to send 5 total, is this too many?

The letter feature is currently not "connecting", which is why you guys are seeing an error message. Reviews don't begin until later in the week, so don't break your neck to get the letter to AMCAS by Mon.

No max, yet more than 5 would be a bit odd.

Tara, does animal physiology count for the physiology credit? I just want to make sure that it doesn't have to be strictly human physiology. Here is the class description:

We do prefer human Physio - you should look for another course or have prepared a very compelling story as to why you were unable to take the course.

We have sent invites to fewer than 500 applicants since launching the new system - it'll take us a few more days to get all invites out. If you haven't received an invite by Friday, feel free to contact us.

That's correct - we should be "caught up" by Friday. Keep working on the prompts so all you have to do is copy/paste and submit! It'll go quicker since we posted prompts in advance.

What does U of A Phoenix have to offer in the way of scholarship and grants, both need-based and merit-based? Full-tuition? half-tuition? Something much smaller?

Much smaller - grants run on the 2000-3500 end and scholarships are limited. Grad Plus supplements what isn't covered by Stafford, grants and scholarships.

The "Courses" section NEEDS to accommodate for students graduating from an institution that uses the quarter system. It is impossible to meet the requirements on the UAPHX application using the same number of course slots needed for semesters.

For example:

CHEMISTRY-RELATED
Required 2 semesters/8 credits or 12 quarter hours with a "C" or better. Minimum is 1 semester/4 credits or 6 quarter hours of general inorganic chemistry and 1 semester/4 credits or 6 quarter hours of biochemistry.

Then 2 course slots are given. If I was on the semester system, 2 would be fine, but I need at least 4 in order to meet the required 12 quarter hours (quarter classes max at 5 credit hours, so I need 2 slots for Inorganic Chemistry and 2 slots for Biochemistry). This applies to all of the other sections as well.

I meet all of the requirements, but don't have enough room to show this. I also can't note the remaining required courses in the section used to describe substitutions due to the 150 word max. This page needs revision ASAP.

I would use the space allotted for course substitutions for now so you don't have to delay your app.

I just got my secondary invite last night. Will it make much of a difference if I'm not wearing something professional (button shirt/tie) in my photo, i.e., just a webcam photo of me in a t-shirt? I meant to upload something else but I got the filenames mixed up, and now the website won't let me change or delete that photo. I want to make sure I don't make any careless mistakes like that before I submit, but I also want to submit ASAP, especially since everything else is completed. Any thoughts?

Just a thought--you might want to take a nicer photo than a webcam shot. I mean how hard would it be to throw on a tie and get someone to take a pic of you? Wouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

Read the email you get after submitting the secondary. These are errors that are being corrected.

I have put in the additional classes in the box for course substitutions, before I submit I just want to know if that is okay or if there is something else I should do. Thanks!

Yes, students have been successful in their application to receive residency after completing the first year of medical school.

FYI - Veterans receive automatic in-state residency for tuition purposes from the get go!

I had the same problem. At ASU Bio 360 animal physiology is focused entirely on human physiology, it is a harder class than human physiology Bio 201 and meets the biology requirements were as human does not. Unfortunately ASU does not have an upper division Human Physiology class.

Note: Physio does not have to be an upper div course, per se. Any one of the three biology course must be upper div, not just the Physio requirement.

I have not taken Human Physiology at my school but almost all the premed students I know take the BIO 360 animal physiology class. I feel that this class is not named correctly. For example the text book for the class is the following.

We will offer the first 36 students to interview on the season opener - Sept 17 - when we return to the office next week.

12 days total, 36 students a day, starting Sept 17 and ending Feb 25. All Monday's. Optional student meet-n-greet is on Sun afternoon / evening. Overnight host is also an option, based in student availability.
