no worries man. I wasn't even put on the interview waitlist until february. I got an invite later in february

Did you end up getting accepted?

Edit: I also just got the email right now placing me on interview wait-list. I'm in-state too, so this isn't a great start for the UCs. Weird that it came on a Sunday afternoon.

So I had done AP Stat so I didn't put it in the course work, and therefore my pre-reqs for Davis are still marked as incomplete. I explained that I planned to take it in the fall, but does anyone know if they won't review the application until then? I haven't received any emails from them post submitting secondary (about a week and a half ago).

Notified of being put on interview waitlist 🙁

I went to CSU Chico

3.7ish/3.7ish (3.95 last four years)
31L MCAT (12/11/8 ps/bs/vr)

So for the question about things that might concern the admissions committee, are they looking for us to put an excuse for a bad grade in a class? I got a C in genetics because of OChem and Biochem that same semester, as well as becoming president of a volunteer organization and having a crazy girlfriend. Is that stuff what they're looking for?

They don't want excuses. They want explanations. Although, in your case, if it's just the one C I wouldn't even bother addressing it.

Thanks! I'm just wondering if a 3.58 sGPA would be a concern to the committee. I have a 3.71 cGPA, but straight B's across chem is the reason for the lower sGPA.

is anyone else having trouble getting the submit button?

Hmmm.... I still think that's pretty decent, but I suppose you could talk a little about how you learned to study more effectively afterwards (if that is indeed the case).

Your call. 🙂

noooooo. I'm on the "interview waitlist" as well 🙁 Does this pretty much mean it's over for me?

At least it's not a rejection! Did you get a email update or did your status change on the site?

just an email update. my status on the site still says COMPLETE. but if the email update shows up in the message center.

Is anyone having problems with the interview sign up site? After being invited to interview, I clicked "August" and it says no dates are available. Same with September, and October... I am also MSTP so I don't know if this has anything to do with it.

I submitted 6/29, and I'm still under review. I don't know whether to take it as a good sign or as a bad.

Haha well I submitted same day and I got waitlisted for interview...soooo good sign? (although the post right above saying they got waitlisted a day after submitting...makes me wonder what waitlisted for interview even means)

WAITLISTERS, DO NOT CONSIDER THIS A DEATH SENTENCE! READ THE FOLLOWING!

I just spoke with admissions--this is the second year they have utilized this interview waitlist. Last year, the gal told me she was positive they interviewed everyone but ONE waitlister.

Assuming the pool will be relatively the same size, and nothing has changed in the procedure, there is still reasonable hope!

Wow that's amazing! You just made my day! 🙂 Reasonable hope indeed!

What exactly did the email say? Just curious.

Just got an official pre-secondary rejection today.
Good luck to everyone else!

quick q: if i have multiple shadowings (and totally forgot to add it to the activities section of the AMCAS), should I only write only about one doctor that had the most impact on me in the experiences section? what if two docs were my most impactful, would it be redundant to use 2 of the 3 experiences for shadowing?

thanks!

I have the exact same issue, can't see any interview dates - MD only. I'm just gonna check back later or call tomorrow maybe.

Does it lower your chances at Davis if you don't fill out any of the short essays for specific programs like Rural-PRIME or TEACH-MS? Do them before or after acceptance? Their website says that consideration for those programs are made after acceptance, so I'm not sure if they have access to those essays before the decision.

I certainly hope not! None of them seemed to fit with me so I didn't fill them out, but Davis is one of my top choices by far so hopefully it works out 🙂

Tough call. Fortunately it wasn't an issue for me because I'm a fan of urban medicine and thought TEACH-MS sounded pretty cool. But I have no clue whether it factors into the admission process... I doubt anyone truly knows the answer either.

I doubt this is true... only ONE waitlister didn't get interviewed? I know at least one friend who was waitlisted last year for an interview and wounded up with a rejection letter.

For those of you who received an interview invite, how long did ya'll wait between submitting the secondary and receiving the interview notification? dates pleeeease!

thanks!

I was complete on 7/12, and I haven't heard anything. Does this mean I've been rejected?

For the three experiences, do they all need to be clinical or medically related? It's not really clear. I'm trying to choose between tutoring disadvantaged students or a research experience.

I don't think they do, just show how they led you to medicine or gave you the skills that you'd use as a doctor.

Secondary invite 6/29, submitted secondary 7/11, interview invite 7/19.

39Q, cGPA 3.89, sGPA 4.0, UCD alum.

Good luck everyone!

Congratulations! And my God those stats haha I was bummed I didn't get an invite yet until I saw your numbers. You deserve it!

For the Experiences section, is it bad that I don't have "Evidence" for any of the three I am using? Most of them are volunteer/community service activities. Anyone who got an interview invite, have this experience or did you all mark something?

Thanks! Good luck - it seems like it's early enough that there's still a good chance you'll get one.

I had AMCAS letters from two of them. For the third I think I marked "Other."

I am not an adcom, but if I was in your situation and confident I could get proof if my acceptance came down to that I would mark whatever seems most appropriate rather than "none." I think fundamentally they just want to know you're not making stuff up.

What do you consider as "Other"? I already have enough letters of recommendation elsewhere, so I'd prefer not to ask for more. But in your opinion, should I mark "Other" if it would be possible to get my references to write an email of my accomplishments in the off chance that UC Davis may ask for this "evidence"?

I might be wrong, but I don't think they will ask for evidence because I think it is unlikely that someone with an otherwise competitive application would fabricate an experience. I'm willing to guess they will share that belief. I think you should be fine with writing about what is meaningful for you. For me, I wanted to discuss another experience that wasn't emphasized on my primary because I couldn't provide great references for it.

Yeah, I'd go with it. I doubt they'll ask for evidence unless they interview you and like you. And even then I could see them not asking if what you wrote seems reasonable.

Got put on the interview wait list. I received an interview from uMich but nothing from my home state of CA. Not a good start with the UCs 🙁.

Stats: 3.6+gpa, 35+MCAT, CA resident, 3 publications, clinical and non-clinical volunteering.

Yeah it's rough out here! It's too bad, it would be so nice to stay in CA.

Btw nice to see a fellow cal bear. 😉

Help.. for the 4th question (what have you been doing since submitting amcas) I only have enough room to just LIST the activities in sentence form (i prefer not to just write out)
-work, x hours per week, phone number ETC... but by writing in sentence form, I have no room to fill out the contact info. Did anyone else encounter this problem and what should I do?? I AM including all this contact info in a separate part of the secondary (happens to be the 3 ec's that I'm writing about... maybe call them and ask on Monday?

Thanks
