But actually. Have really only 2 people this entire cycle posted about getting off the waitlist? Let's say in reality (beyond SDN haha) 10 have already been accepted. That's still an incredibly small amount of movement.

I feel like they could still be working behind the scenes. I mean, people could have put in a deposit if they were accepted, but be waiting to get off the waitlist from their top choice if it isn't UC. I think there's probably more to expect in the coming weeks and potentially all the way through August.

My husband will be declining his spot this evening when he gets home from work. He just got accepted to Calgary, and financially-speaking, it's the only sane choice for our family. Bummer for me, since all my family is in Ohio. But we really had no idea how to make Cincy work. 🙁

I will offer him $5 to give up his spot! only kidding

I'm sorry to hear about your difficult situation. I'm pretty much guaranteed to be taking $60k+ out in student loans annually no matter where I go, even my IS option, so at least your husband and you have a financially feasible option. Ironically enough, Cincy is actually my second cheapest school (between acceptances and wait lists), but not by a large margin. I don't know much about Calgary, but best of luck making the decision!

Congrats on the acceptance, sorry about the finances. I want that lucky charm/spell/potion your husband's using to get off all of these waitlists. 😉

Has anyone come off of the middle tier alternate list yet or are people just coming off the top tier?

I guess he gets one offer for each year he's applied. lol

Accepted just now! I was on upper 1/3 of waitlist.

Phone call, email, or just a status update online?

Mind sharing general demographics? (if IS, gender, if URM, if nontraditional)

Email saying my status had changed.

IS, M, not an URM, traditional.

Good luck!

Sigh.

I guess it's over for OOSers.

yeah, it doesn't look good. this year was BRUTAL for wait listed candidates everywhere.

source: myself

It seems more like schools that typically experience a lot of movement had little and schools that normally have next to none have picked up the slack. One school (that I'm not waiting on the WL for, unfortunately), which had 0 movement last year, has had notable movement this year. We got the short end of the stick 🙁

Has anyone been able to get through to Dean Manuel? I tried emailing him regarding the waitlist a few days ago, but haven't gotten a response. I guess he must be swamped with these emails now.

I called the admissions office and was able to schedule a phone appointment with him no problem.

called admissions again today to ask about waitlist movement. they still seem pretty clammed up about how this year is shaping up for them regarding WL acceptances in relation to that email dr. manuel sent out about acceptance numbers in years past.

more waiting, man. it's getting to be draining.

Thanks for the heads up. Seriously, waiting is ultra draining. If I get asked ONE MORE TIME if I've officially decided on a school my head is going to explode.

IS Top 1/3, have basically given up hope on UC and ready to start school elsewhere

OOS Middle Third, also starting to give up 🙁 I don't want to resort to my backup though, sigh.

It seems like their wait list is actually moving at a decent pace-- Dean Manuel says they've made little over 20 offers to date.

Also top 1/3, OOSer here. Still don't think I'm going to need that fin aid handbook they sent.

Same situation here, Top 1/3, IS, M. Congratulations on the other acceptance though. I'm on three waitlists and I think UC is my best/only chance. I would love to go here. Hoping the waitlist starts moving for more of us.

+1 so draining.

Anyone send letters of intent or updates? Are they receptive to that?

Can any current students comment on the "Big sib/lil sib" program? The application form has been posted to our MedOneStop page but there isn't a description of the program and I'm curious about it? Also, is it mandatory to complete the application form for this program?

1) Could any Class of 2017 student please invite me to the facebook group? It is a closed group and I was just recently accepted.

PM me if you are able to help me out.

2) Any idea when we register for classes?

Thanks!

It pairs an M1 up with an M2. Usually you meet with them once around when schools starting for coffee or a beer and they are there to help you out however they can with letting you know about things to do in Cincinnati, what you really need to know about different classes, answer questions about what to expect with different classes, some will hand down old books or old syllabi which are no longer provided. It basically introducing you to someone who's ahead of you who can let you know what to expect with upcoming years. I sat down with mine to find out what to expect on 3rd year rotations and which hospitals are better for which rotations etc.

If you want to do it, fill out the form, otherwise you don't have to worry about it. It's an optionally program that many people end up taking advantage of.

Anyone know if they drug test when school starts?

they did not when i started.. but i just graduated so taht was awhile ago.. i am pretty sure they don't tho.. however most residency programs drug test you (mine did)
