And the wait continues... another we haven't made a decision on your file email.

No decision here yet either :/ If they said "the committee met an no final decision was made..." Does that mean they saw it? Or no? Wish they would be a little less vague in these emails :/ argh!!!

i know. i am wondering if our files have been reviewed or not? also i am wondering if anyone was offered wait list today or if they are just waiting to offer them all at once?

What people have been saying it means that our file hasn't been presented yet at the meeting. If you were put on hold it would mean that they have presented your file, but they want to wait on a final decision until they re-review you at a subsequent meeting.

Hang in there guys. I didn't hear until mid March.

I'm a 3rd year @ Trover. If you guys have any questions feel free

This is interesting. So you're saying that the "no final decision has been made" means that the file has not been reviewed post-interview by the committee? I guess it's possible, but some people who interviewed significantly later have already been reviewed and accepted. I got the impression that that they generally review files post-interview within a few weeks, so I guess my impression has been that those of us in this boat have already been reviewed at least once post-interview, but they prefer us for the wait list rather than outright acceptance. My feeling is that those who were accepted very soon after interview had generally stronger applications and/or interviews. Otherwise, why have rolling admissions? Some people were accepted in late Jan after an early Jan interview. They most likely had stronger applications. I mean look at it this way. Those of us who were interviewed in November, for example, were interviewed because they liked our apps. I find it hard to believe that they would not look at the apps again until 3 months later after having already accepted later interviewees. The thread is replete with examples of later interviewees getting quick acceptances, and many of them have very strong stats. This just makes me assume that our files have been reviewed post-interview.

Simply put, to believe the fact that those of us with mid-Fall interview dates have not heard while later interviewees have been accepted is due to random chance of applications being pulled from a file for committee review is just very difficult to believe. Otherwise, super strong applicants would run the risk of getting wait listed each year due to chance, and I doubt UofL wants this to happen. so they must exercise at least some degree of post-interview sorting to valid this outcome.

It was posted earlier that Ms. Osbourne has stated to interviewees that those who are slated will be pushed through soon after their interviews; anyone else has to wait to be reviewed. Thus, we are still waiting.

Sorry for the length of my previous post and the pessimistic tone, I actually edited it once more since your post to add another paragraph. Can you clarify what your post means regarding slating? I don't understand. Thanks so much for your response, BabyDoc.

Edit: Do you mean that apps are screened post-interview, and those with stronger credentials are slated for fast committee decisions and the rest are pushed back until they get a better idea of the class composition?

I think we need to clarify whether we're talking about committee vote only when we discuss what final decision means.

Thanks.

EDIT: the way I envision it now is that this slating policy is designed to balance the slightly to moderately prejudicial effect of a later interview versus an earlier interview.

Directly from Ms. Osbourne, interviewees post-interview with MCAT >>ave and GPA >>ave are 'slated' and accepted without discussion. The rest are discussed, which takes more time. So interviewee 1 interviews earlier than Interviewee 2, but 2 gets a faster decision/accepted sooner.

Gotcha. That's basically what I thought. Those with lower stats are discussed later and thus more likely to be wait listed than accepted because they must go through this extra step and time is limited in each committee meeting. Thus, by the time the app is discussed, the class may already be full. We have not been slated but are in a queue to be discussed, and once we are, we will receive a decision relatively soon after. Seems like a fair system to me.

So is it too late to send an update letter for a potential interview? Are they sending any invites out now? Anybody know?

You guys should probably email Ms. Osborne to find out if invites are finished or not.

Does anyone know if UofL was supposed to increase its class size like UK is hoping to? That means extra acceptance spots which would be amazing....

I didn't hear them mention it at the interview day and I haven't seen them say anything about it in the news either (usually they advertise that sort of thing to the community).

I don't remember them saying anything about doing that, so I assume the class size will stay the same.

Though, the increase in UK class size may help people waitlisted at UofL indirectly if some students choose UK over UofL.

i'm just barely joining the forum. i got my acceptance about a month ago. does anyone know if there's a facebook group for our class?

Next week is spring break so I am guessing they will not be sending out emails next Wednesday. What do you all think?

Yeah, I agree. I doubt they're going to meet next week if its spring break. Looks like more waiting...

Does anyone know the typical movement for the alternate list here? I know they tell waitlisted people whether they are in the top, middle, or bottom third...but is there any knowledge as to how far they typically dip into it? I know it is still a while out from when alternate list will be formed but just wondering in advance about movement in the past. Thx.

For instate they almost always go through the entire top third.

Thx. Like most schools, does Louisville usually have more OOS accepted withdraw?

At my interview, we were told that there tends to be more movement on the OOS waitlist. I'm not sure if this is by sheer numbers or proportionality though. I'd guess the OOS waitlist might be smaller because of the smaller number of OOS spots.

I woke up sick this morning and couldn't make it to the preorientation today. If anyone here goes, post a quick summary of some of the stuff they went over for the people who couldn't make it. It would be really helpful!

If anyone is interested, they posted all the info on Blackboard under the Pre-Orientation tab for the class of 2017.

new to forum talk. When you say rejected post-secondary.... does that mean you were rejected without an interview... only reason I ask is because your sign off says accepted class of 2017??

That's what they mean. And im assuming they were accepted to a different school already this go round.

Thank you for doing this early! :xf:

I wonder they would extend acceptance to someone else or they've already sent acceptances to more than the class size thinking x number will withdraw.

Also, each school know how many spots you're holding and in which schools.

I was thinking the committee would not meet this week considering spring break. Apparently I was wrong. "No decision" but at least I know it's the last no decision email I will get. Two more weeks until I get my decision.

A question to all current students: How is the student health insurance plan? Are students required to use the university's plan? Is it good about covering doctors' visits and medications? (I'm asking because I want to know whether or not I should stay on my parents' plan.)

OOS, received post-interview rejection (e-mail) this afternoon. Good luck to all who have decisions outstanding. Time to wait some more for outcome of SUNY interview.

+1 to the end of 'no decision'

Tired of ambiguity.

Does it cost your parents if you stay on their plan, I thought it does not cost them and you can stay till age 26.

I'm not sure about whether or not it costs them anything, but my parents want to know whether or not to switch to a plan that covers doctors' visits outside of my home state.

You will want to check with the school for specifics, but generally you just have to show proof of coverage that is equal to or greater than the insurance provided by the school.

If you call them up they should be able to tell you exactly who to talk to. That person should be able to tell you what the minimum requirements for coverage should be.

Tomorrow is decision day finally. Anyone check their status page to see if it changed? I doubt it will but you never know without checking.

I am so glad to finally be getting a decision from U of L tomorrow. I checked my status page but it is still blank. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I checked too, and it was blank as expected. According to the last email they sent, it sounds like there may not be anything on the status page when we make the waitlist until May 10th when they release which tier we are on.

Good luck :luck:
