No, it's completely accurate. Out of 497 people interviewed, 334 are accepted. That works out to about 67 percent. Pretty nice odds!

Do they not reject anyone? The waitlist is as big as the class size. It did not seem like this last year.

Interviewing on Wednesday this week! So excited for the opportunity!! Anyone else gonna be there for the 1045?!?

rejected today after being complete for two months.. not posting stats. i'm beyond devastated. this was my #1 choice and the kicker is I just started doing research with them. FML looks like i'm applying to smp programs now.

sorry to hear! hang in there :luck:

Complete in late July and just rejected a few hours ago. My stats aren't great, but they are within the 10-90 percentiles. I thought maybe I would have a chance but I guess not. Best of luck to everyone else who applied to USC.

To the people that got rejected, what kind of essays did you write in the secondary? And do you think they could have been the reason for your rejections?

I thought my essays were fine. I got a bunch of interviews at both MD and DO schools so I feel like my writing was fine. I think it's my numbers. I read that USC is a little more focused on numbers than other schools, and my numbers are definitely towards the lower end of the scale.

I doubt USC is more focused on numbers, they turn down so many high GPA people.. they want people who make it clear to them that USC is clealy their number one choice or close, they dont waste time with people who just apply to USC but wouldn't seriously consider if they got into stanford or UCLA or something like that.

Based on their secondary essays I seriously doubt that they have any way to tell whether or not you're more interested in usc over ucla or stanford. Their secondary is more geared towards figuring out who you are as a person and how you would fit into the keck family.

I was rejected by all school in Cali except for this one. Complete 7/6 but still hanging in....

my essays were fine as well.. my stats I think are similar to virtuoso's... seen other posts by him/her and a friend with similar numbers to me was rejected last friday. I believe these numbers are at the very bottom of their acceptance pool and maybe they are just getting so many applicants this year with higher numbers, I have a feeling their gpa and mcat average will increase next year.. or at least the GPA 10-90% range will. i'm still quite sad but will work on increasing my GPA for a possible reapp next cycle. 🙁

For anyone who already interviewed or have already scheduled an interview: does USC interview on Thursdays or Mondays?

I'll be interviewing at another California school in mid-January. I was wondering:

1) Is USC receptive to in the area emails?
2) If so, when should I email them? January is quite a bit off, but maybe more notice is better? And I guess there is a chance that I could get an interview earlier than January, which is better obviously because USC is rolling. So maybe hold off?

Thanks!

Judging from previous posts and threads, they are not receptive to those kinds of emails. Those who have tried, and feel free to search, have reported they were either ignored or told, thanks but no thanks as a response. You can always try though and report back 🙂

Fivo is right. I sent them an "in the area" e-mail ~3 weeks ago and they said "thanks, but no thanks." Just FYI... good luck either way!

Thanks guys! I'll prolly refrain from sending one.

Just had my interview on 10/2!! Thought I'd share my experience for anyone interested. This was my first interview so far in the cycle, so I definitely was a bit nervous, not to mention that I felt like I should have prepared more haha. There were about 14 of us total, 7 with morning interviews and 7 in the afternoon, but we ate lunch and toured together. I was in the morning session, which was nice because by the time the food rolled out I could just sit back and relax 😀. We started off the day with a brief meeting/intro session with the Associate Dean of Admissions, Dr. Arias, who is very nice and gives you interviewing tips. The admissions office lady is also super friendly, and she along with the dean actually escorts everyone to their respective interview rooms!

There are two interviewers, one student and one faculty, both close-filed. Both of them were pretty laid-back, my student interviewer more so. I think they really try to get to know you as a person as well as get a sense of your personality to see how well you fit can with the students there, as opposed to just grilling on application experiences or stressing you out. I felt I did alright in my interviews; it could have gone worse but in hindsight I wish I answered some of the questions a little differently. 😳 Lunch was not bad, though I wasn't all that hungry. But the atmosphere is very nice and you're actually served your food! We ate with the tour guide, though seating was a bit awkward since it was just one long table, so if you sit far away from the tour guide you may not be able to talk to him. Also we interviewees somehow segregated ourselves in terms of gender unfortunately....

The neighborhood itself is a bit dingy, but the hospital does see more of the poorer/underserved patient population, which is one of the reasons why I am interested in Keck. Also, people don't really live near campus. There are dorms, but both my student interviewer and tour guide were apparently against it, especially since only the pharmacy kids live there. 🙄 That unfortunately means students are sort of spread out in terms of living, which I didn't particularly like.

So overall, not too bad of a start for my first interview experience, though I was having a slight wardrobe malfunction with my shoes, which were new and kept slipping off the heel of my foot lol... Oh, and note, Dr. Arias specifically said not to send any of our interviewers thank you notes/cards and strongly discouraged updates, unless if it was something major like a Nature publication haha. She mentioned that decisions would probably be given out within 3-5 weeks of your interview date, which is much sooner than the 6-8 weeks according to the II email! I definitely liked Keck and can see myself there, so hopefully I'll have good news to share soon!!! :xf::xf::xf:

Good luck to everyone else in the cycle so far! 🙂

I interviewed on the 3rd and I had a similar experience! Everyone was really cool and relaxed. Although the faculty interview started off a little stressful, everything was great once we began chatting. I'm hoping to hear some good news within the next few weeks so I can somewhat relax during my next interviews. Great school and I would love to go here. I feel like it would provide a diverse patient experience unknown to a lot of places!! Good luck to future interviewees !

Anyone get II's the past two weeks? seems pretty quiet lately

Here's to us!!! hahaha Hopefully the next cycle of interviews includes the rest of us. Keck USC is an awesome campus in my experience.

Ahhhh USC is one of my top choices. I was complete mid-September so I'm really hoping this is the week I finally hear something back. I'm so nervous though :scared:

I've never actually been there but I've heard great things. My friends at USC all love it there.

It's not the same campus as the undergrad. I love the school, but honestly, the campus/location is one of the worst things about it.

I'm in the same situation. My stats are pretty low so I'm a nervous wreck come Thursday and Friday that's usually when they send out rejections right?

Hey I interviewed on the 2nd too! Do you think we'll hear back on Oct 15 or is that too soon haha

Just rejected via email. Complete 9/9. IS, 39Q, sGPA 3.9. 🙁

Another rejection here, 3.9, 34 IS.

A little surprised and very disappointed.👎

Sorry to hear that 🙁 When were you complete?

Looks like 8/22.

II from Indiana takes the edge off a little, but as a reapplicant each rejection makes you a little bit more and more nervous.

Rejected. Complete 9/3.

This was not a surprise whatsoever, but still.🙁
